Idk, sling loading and rappelling don't seem to have that much training value to the general force. Are we really going to trust Soldiers that are not in logistics MOS's to accept the dangerous responsibilities of aerially delivered cargo? An 11B that went to Air Assault 3 years ago and hasn't touched a sling load since? The physical events are great and I'd argue Airborne should have the same physical events also, however, a more relevant curriculum would get rid of sling loading and reduce rappelling in favor of fast roping, SPIE rigging, air assaults into simulated combat zones with follow on missions, and defense of an HLZ. Rappelling is really only good for teaching confidence at heights, you aren't really going to rappel out of a helo in a combat situation.
The emblem these instructors are wearing is associated with the organization they fall under, namely the Warrior Training Center, and all instructors with the Warrior Training Center are uniform in this regard.
Went to FT. Benning Air Assault. These are classy gentlemen and great at what they do!
I was in the first Air Assult class , '63 at Benning when they formed the 11 Air Assult Div ( Test) ......
I went to AA at Ft. Campbell. Class 60-96, roster number 303. The highest roster number was 360+. Ultimately 63 of us graduated.
Thanks for the detailed video. Hope this helps future AA attendees .
SFC Pounding! Fantastic NCO and Instructor!!!
