Excellent as always! As a prep style enthusiast, I roomed on a class trip with a young man who was...let us say not versed in the sartorial arts. He noticed I would frequently get compliments from women on my outfit and said he wished there was something similar but more formal that he could emulate. I explained trad style and waited for the day you'd produce a video! I'll be sharing this with him as we gear up to raid the thrift stores this Wednesday!
Nice Presentation. I would really like to see you walk through how colors changed by the past 8-10 decades or periods in menswear in general. ie: the 1920's forward and how men clothing colors have changed.
For me, your videos that go into depth about menswear are my favorites. They are my favorites because they are applicable for my life. However, I hope you can make a video that discusses the dress shirt brands and other cloths brands that you wear and where to purchase them.
This was a great explanation. Even though I'm a woman, preppy style has been my go-to although I did fall into the generic jeans and t-shirt style. I've always loved blazers and bright colors. This gave me options for Traditional for work life. I think the Trad is still reminiscent of the old English countryside sport look (which I love). Many men, in NYC at least, wear a navy blue suit to formal events with tie. A bowtie and khaki pants with same blazer and shirt is their casual.
I was not aware that there are styles within the "upper class" or formal clothing. Thank you for informing me about the more detailed options of classy menswear :)
I’ve been trying to find what my style is for years but I think I’ve got it. Midway between Ivy and Trad (If I had to chose a year it would be 1961) I’m 14 and this will really help when someone asks me how I’d describe my style.
could you make a video about double breasted suits and jackets? I really want to get one and i think they look great, but it is hard to find good information about them and how to wear them.
Hello! Could you make a video about ways of holding the pants, like belts, braces and side adjusters. What you wear, what you recommend.... I think it would be very useful!
That is an interesting take on "trad", and a bit different from what I understand it to be. My understanding is that it's simply a progression from the ivy league style after one graduates from college and heads out into the world. That means 3/2 roll sack suits with flat front pants, regimental stripe and printed foulard ties, button down or point collars, conservative cap toes or longwings, and so on. Basically the look that J.Press still carries on today. My 2 cents.
It's funny, because he speaks native-level English, and you improperly used "whatsoever," and you forgot an article before "truth," and there's a comma splice in your last sentence. Stick to the wardrobe insults. Cheers.
Sorry! I forgot to mention your misspelling of "pronunciation." Also, you misspelled "referring." Also, when using "also" as a conjunctive adverb, a comma is necessary. Another comma is needed before "but." In my first comment, the comma before "because" is optional and stylistic, unlike nearly all of your mistakes. Native-level means "at the level of a native," which is hyphenated here because it is modifying the following noun. I'm sorry that you failed to use context clues to figure that one out. Indeed, native-like is also a word, and neither one is a concept I "made up." I noticed that, in an attempt to prove that my comma usage was incorrect, you copied a passage from an English grammar website, which actually substantiates the claim that that comma was optional, and posted it on about half of my uploads-including those from years ago-alongside personal attacks and borderline threats directed at me. I hope you can find it in your heart to congratulate this "mentally retarded poor maggot" from a "third-world country" (the U.S.A.) on matriculating at Brown University this fall. I find it rather likely that you will, instead, somehow find a way to criticize that as well. Perhaps you were educated at Harvard. Let it be known that I hate it when people are overly picky with language, but if you're bothering to be picky, you might as well not be so noticeably self-contradictory. Goodbye forever.
I'm going to suggest another style to the 3 you mentioned. Am not sure what to call it - maybe "Mod" style after the UK musical subculture. While it will often use traditional materials and good quality cloths , the cut is a bit sharper and it is often favoured by musicians. Though not particularly a part of that subculture it's a style I like a lot and though I have more than one type of "look" I favour a slight "edge" to otherwise traditional clothes
Hello Raphael! Um salve do Brasil. I am interested in knowing more about the history of the classic suit, such as when it was introduced on men's wardrobes and who designed it. Any chance of a video like that coming out?
Do you happen to have a link where I can purchase a Trad Style outfit? I will be attending a Trad-themed party soon. Thank you very much! As always, I love your channel and its content! :)
I love your clothes. And I thank you for all the great information. I just have one question about the pants. Why do they always seem to look a little short? Like the term " tide water" short?? Thanks.
Wondering if you have an index or search for your service? I tried to find the information regarding funerals, but was only able to find the short one. This would be a great help to find all the information regarding things. Thank you so much!
I know this is off topic but I just want to know if expensive oxfords are worth it if your feet grow since I'm a young man so they might get small. By the way very informative video my friend.
You can always spot the prep style guys they usually study law and tell you if you beat them up their daddy is going to sue you. God I hate those kids in Uni.
This is so interesting. I love it when you go into so much detail about something I didn’t even know existed
My thoughts exactly!
Agreed! I feel like I’m above average with my mens fashion knowledge but this went right over me!
blue and brown is always such a good combination. Love that vest

I definitely love trad more than the preppy style. Especially with those odd vests, my favorite kind of style.
This is the first time I've seen Raphael wearing a watch! Well done, sir.
This is my favorite style
These styles are the best I’ve seen on you across any video. Absolutely love the colors!
I didn't even know trad was a thing, but I like it.
Watch the show Mad Men.
I knew about it bot got in to it because of granddad
Sven thank you for putting these videos together. They are a great wealth of information.
It is our pleasure. :)
Thank you for this video. I alway though I dressed prep or ivy, but now I understand my style is trad.
Never heard of Trad before now, great style, great video
Awesome video , colors brilliantly chosen , so alive and vivant , wish everyone could dress like that.

This is my style!!! Conservative but with a litttle hit of self expression.

Trad seems suited (pun always intended) only for cold climates.
Great way to stay classy
Looks like you do have a wrist watch! Complements you style really well!
Can’t wait to see your wardrobe video sir.
That suit is a show stopper.
You could maybe do a video on „Tracht“ for Gentleman. (Janker, Lederhosen etc.)
I was not aware that there are styles within the "upper class" or formal clothing.

Summer headwear? Pith Helmets for the win!
😁

I wish you were around when I went to prep school!
Helpful video. I like the boots you were wearing and the trad watch too
Nice watch! Sean Connery wore a golden Gruen at the chemin de fer table in Dr No.
Can you please go over how we deal with old clothes?

Today I learned something new. 👍

@@Kishidoku YIKES!
Well, you are not alone in this case
Nice. I must side more towards trad since I have a pair of loafers but no boat shoes.

Great video! I’m curious to know if you’ll ever do a video over coin cuff links and where they started or what the stood for.
Do you happen to have a link where I can purchase a Trad Style outfit? I will be attending a Trad-themed party soon. Thank you very much! As always, I love your channel and its content! :)

thanks for posting
Interesting as always
A true trad doesn’t need a tutorial because a true trad is born as a trad lol

Love this
Could you do a segment on monograms ?
Cool and classy
Do you think, C.S. Lewis wore, Trad?
The funny thing is that I’ve been Doing trad/Ivy since i got into it 😂

I know this is off topic but I just want to know if expensive oxfords are worth it if your feet grow since I'm a young man so they might get small. By the way very informative video my friend.
Sell them and get a pair that fits.
When are those vests gonna be finished?
Looks terrific just needs those shoes fixed up a bit
Where did you get that hacking jacket?
Traditional style is Prep and Ivy grown up. Trad is the father and uncle of Prep and Ivy.
YES!
What's the name of the fabric on the suit?
where do you get your vests?
What about like a well-fitted version of trad style? Is that a thing?
Is it still cold in Minnesota?
100 Fahrenheit today
100 Fahrenheit today
There’s a level even lower than prep. Most call it “frat”
Charles tywitt
Doesn't seem to be much different from English country squire style.
Prep=age 13-21, Trad=22-death, both B.B. or JP
Better clobber
You can always spot the prep style guys they usually study law and tell you if you beat them up their daddy is going to sue you. God I hate those kids in Uni.
Learn how to pronounce Madras.
