The Mod Father, he’s done it again. This song is just perfect like so many of his others. My life has been enriched by this guy, that’s all there is to it, thank you Mr Weller!
This is the best tune Paul’s come up with for awhile, imo. It feels true, honest, soulful, natural, and righteous. It oozes goodness. Right on, Paul! Ever forward...
This song got me through 2020, it was a tough year for me personally and listening to this song / album made me think how lucky I am in life with the people I have in it, and who got me through it
I don't know...Paul seems to have aimed for the Middle of the Road here. Its not bad, but it's about as passionate as a laundry soap commercial. I hate to be the only critical comment here, but I have to be honest.
Moses Berkowitz hi I do understand what you’re saying .. I didn’t like his last album ... I feel ready for something like this .. Paul’s great strength has always been the fact that he rarely stands still .. nobody is right or wrong it’s all about personal preference..
This is one of those songs that can be loved on first hearing, that's the sign of a classic tune. Love the vibe, everything about it. Was looking forward to the new album but even more so now. Nice one.
The Soulness that's in Paul's voice as it mature's is superb. OK it's always been there, in The Jam and The Style Council, but this is something special. If Curtis and Callier were around now we'd have a dream team. Not sure about the 'I've got Heaven in my sights' lyric, a bit worrying. But worry not, saw him the other day walking down the street and the 'Woking Bowl' was in full flight. So much so it frightened the fuck out of me and I crossed the road. Keep on keeping on.
This kind of soulful stuff is where he is really strong... a kind of futuristic curtis mayfield mixed with his own world... amazing paul... thanks a million!!
Started listening to the Jam when as as a 10 year old it was the first music I purchased. Now 40 years later, this legend is still producing music that pleases my soul,(which sometimes can be heavy).
@@crankyoldfart Yeah, seriously. I've been a fan since "Dig the New Breed", but I haven't heard anything I've liked from him in at least ten years. His voice is croaky now, but he insists on singing mellow ballads-- WHY? He should be using his senior status and talent to write some faster angry songs again. Being older doesn't have to mean getting old.
I sometime struggle to understand P.W.'s deep love and passion for Paul McCartney when he has been banging out incredible & joyous music for so, so long now and as far as I'm concerned 'Macca' peaked with 'Wings' in the 70's and has been sub-standard ever since (he never got to John Lennon's standard despite living 40 years more!), P.W. easily sits alongside Lennon as this country's greatest ever Singer/Songwriter/Artist.
The Modfather returns again to kick ass and take names...well, more like pay the bills and show the young upstarts how it’s done. It takes more than a trap beat and apps to hone real craft. Love this breezy easy soulful ditty. Thank you, Paul.
Very good I thought the last album was not the best .but I have been a fan since 1977 .i have bought everything weller has ever done .if this track is what’s to come am excited 😃😃👍👍👍
Absolutely classy, the man is a living legend. The best singer songwriter Britain has ever had the privilege to be associated with.He transcends genres and decades he is timeless.
Another album ,another direction -always experimenting -such a good groove and the voice gets better and better. What a great gift to give us as we come out of lockdown.
How does Paul manage to be so creative and make every album totally different from the last? So talented. Even each album's artwork is exciting too. Thank you so much Mr Weller for the last 43 years.
This really reminds me of his solo debut album in 92. Lots of echoes of 'Above the clouds'. Beautiful track, very 70s soul and a lovely reflective lyric. Has brought everything since spending my pocket money on 'Start!' in 1980. For last 15 years whenever I see he has a new album coming out I always think 'I probably wont get it' but always do. Superb
Been going on long exercise walks with Weller/ Jam /Council music in my headphones the last few weeks and without gettin soppy or sentimental , listening to this music took me back through my life ( I’m in my 50s now) and prompted me to reflect in a way I hadn’t for a while and now , despite the sadness I felt about the world around me, I am rejuvenated again. There’s a big mess to sift through once this pandemic is over with, but I still feel there’s hope when I hear music or am touched by art like this .
Doesn't get the recognition he deserves, best British song writer ever in my opinion, being knocking em out for over 40 years! Just gets better and better!
Loved The Jam, loved the Style Council, (even though I was gutted when The Jam split up). This is Paul Weller keeping the very high standards we expect from him.

Totally agree. THE Modfather has done it again pure genius. Fantastic live.
When you see all the bad in England we still have Paul weller he is ours what a legend we should clap for him every Thursday -- genius 👌👌👌😍😍😍
Beat Orphan not a clue what your on about there mate ..??😢😢
It's a reference to the "Clap for the NHS" gimmick used by the British government during the Covid crisis.
Not just Thursday. Every day is Modfather day.

More brilliance. His voice is as good as it ever has been.
Paul Weller is and has always been the MAN

Sounds like he did in 83 .. and that’s a good thing.. I love soulful Paul ..

Our generations Lennon or Dylan except he never sold out or faded ✊
Jim Green neither did Lennon or Dylan. Dylan still makes great records and we can’t blame Lennon for where he is now.
