I love it! The lyrics hit a personal note with me and the music suits it well. It’s just funny how people get a different impression of the same song.

The reason his vocals were different on this song is because he wanted to sing it at very quiet notes, almost a whisper, and the way they made that work was they just cranked the microphone up as high as possible in order to capture his voice.

I was not wowed on the first listen and I kept over-focusing on how I'd love more reverb effects here and there. I kept re-listening though as it kept bouncing in my head. Now I find myself enjoying it so much and have it a lot on repeat.
Its such a simple song itself, it really lets the words become the centerpiece to think on. I struggle with anxiety as a Christian and these lyrics describe a feeling I've had. I think this song means a lot to Ryan I'd wager

    This part hits
There was a fire when I was young that took my life
And now I am left just praying death would take me twice
Where is the peace that I once heard
    Would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart
    Go separate ways

Crazy to me! The Brink to me was amazing at first but after a few listens, decided it was just okay. Black Stained Glass on the other hand went right into my top 10-15 immediately, and after 10+ listens, still right in the same tier.

I haven't liked everything they've put out recently, but I love this track. It kinda gives me the vibe of like.. the ballads of Triptych but with the tone and production of SoD.

Thanks for the review. This song did not grab me like Worlds Apart which instantly became a favorite. I am glad to see any new DH music this one is interesting and may take a few more listen’s.

Great review man. I checked it out on Apple Music and thought it was an ok song. It may grow on me over time but it’s still an ok song man.

I’m gonna have to agree with you Zach cause I just listened to the new song and I love DH ballad’s but this song put me to sleep and the acoustics were very two note strum along with
Edit : I like the lyrics though

This was an ok song that feels like a ending track on an album. It sounded like it was going up a peak at the middle and then come down but it just halted half way then came back down. if they added more instruments and picked up the vocals in The middle then went back to simple vocals and acoustic guitar it would have been better like the song Driving nails if you start with string mix build up to the original then back down to string mix

I feel like the people calling it "boring" are missing the point of it entirely.
It's a lament. It doesn't finish in hope or a joyous chorus. It's not something they want added to a fun playlist, or played at a club, they want it to wrench at the heart of those that relate to it.

Agreed. I see the simplistic music only being a secondary tool to get across the emotion of the lyrics.

Upon first listen I actually like it. It sounds kinda close to fear is not my guide and that's one of my favorites if not my favorite so for the people who like that one then you'll probably like this one. I don't know how it will grow on me. I make like it more or less as time goes on. I tend to hear that most Demon Hunter fans like the older and heavier stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if the general consensus is people don't like it.

Yeah this song is meh to me imo but I do agree it is utterly boring and could've used a violin melody in this but it's mid for me Ryan Clark's vocals are fine I guess but still I agree it's a least favorite good track review zach

your opinion sucks 🤞 don't listen to a Christian band if you don't expect them to speak on Christianity in their music. I think they did it perfectly and you, plus many others are close minded.
