Been a fan of them for a long time now, but more recently I feel like I’ve gotten to know Justin from his UA-cam channel, and that makes it much more special.
I felt like MTV was dying back in the day.... then this video came on and there was chills and a spark of hope. It still died, but this song will stick with me forever.
I'm glad that even Hawkins struggles with this song live, because if he just came out and hammered it just like the CD I would be too jealous. Such a hard song to sing!
@@drewbateman7557 struggling might be the wrong word. He’s not struggling in an obvious or embarrassing way by any means, but he’s not hitting the original high notes, and the ones he does, he doesn’t hold as long. Part of that is the physicality of running around on stage with a 10lb guitar around your neck vs standing/sitting comfortably in an isolation booth. And part of it is vocal fatigue and a bit of age. For some of the high notes he’s landing an octave lower than before. Killer performance, especially considering all the factors I mentioned, but “sacrifices” have been made to get the quality of performance we have here.

when the song first came out, it was effortless for him. but he's far from struggling here; def takes more effort than it used to for him tho, understandably. however, he attempted the highest notes of the song here, something he rarely did back in 2003/4
I fucking LOVE the fact that this band is honestly the best/most polished live act doin in right now for the most part, despite having had their hayday TWENTY fucking years ago. Lol god damn I love this band
they put on a great show, i like how justin backs of the vocals just enough so there's a great mix of him and the audience. don't believe i've ever heard anyone do that.
@@simonvanderheijden432 That doesn't mean they're not a rock band. Part of rock is tongue in cheek, listen to ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, lots of tongue in cheek songs.

I.used to babysit my friend's baby when he was about a year old & when this song was No1 in Britain he was obsessed by the song..The only way I could get him to go asleep was play it loud in repeat & he'd head bang himself asleep in his cot😆😆
Great high energy performance. Loved the intro by guitarist grinding guitar across microphone for Great sound effect. Loved Hawkins outfit, only a rockstar can get away with that.
how do people play their guitars so low like that 😮 ? It’s easy to play power chords (especially in drop d) but for anything remotely technical my hand would be toast in five mins playing with a kinked wrist
Man, I haven't seen this band since 2003 and didn't even know theyre still around. This song was everywhere when I was in highschool... I mean I remember everyone in our local music scene making a big deal of this song. Is that the same singer? It's hard to tell because I don't remember him having tattoos and I can't see his face lol.
ha ha 😂 just watched this again. Totally missed 1st time around Justin misses his big final outro chord as he jumps for it at 6.00 laughs with the drummer, straps up & then nails it.
Justin Hawkins UA-cam channel is brilliant! Funny too.
It is

The Darkness has to be one of the most underrated bands of all time.
I don’t think that’s true. They’ve made A LOT of shit music.
@@bungle3912 that is your opinion though bro. I think the beatles made a lot of shit music too bt doesnt mean thats a fact
and Candlebox
Not in my opinion. They are the best true modern rock and roll band.
They had one song.. nothing is underrated about them
To pull off a song like this live without bullshit recordings is so impressive, modern day queen
Never got them, the look, the sound. started watching J.H. rides again...Knows his shit, loves music & likes a good laugh, now I get it.
Love how Dan is always sporting a Thin Lizzy t-shirt.
Love them live, great interaction with the crowd don't take themselves to serious and can actually play
The talent in this band is insane...what a liveband!
still one of the most legendary music videos ever.
Already? It just went up 2 months ago. 🙂

A guaranteed good time at a Darkness show every time. And man they rock hard with a smile.👍👍👍

His youtube channel is fantastic. I'm addicted.
Dan Hawkins is a brilliant and underrated player in the band as well!!!
A great band deserves a great audience and they were well served by this audience. Just fantastic.
I was just a kid and bought the CD at Walmart. Crazy how they didn’t become ultra huge. The world is missing out on them
They have a successful Christmas song- they will never want for money ever again.
Now this is what Rock and Roll should be!!!!!" Good music and entertainment 👌!!!! God bless you all today 🙏 Shalom

Finally saw these guys live in Boston...what a fun show!!
It's like ACDC and Queen 👑 together. Love it
Justin Hawkins. Rock star and showman. Huge respect.
Still one of the greatest rock songs ever.
They're fantastic! Wish they were bigger.
For a couple of years, they were! Great that they enjoy themselves and what they do. Way more fun than fame and being owned by the business.
They were huge when Permission to Land came out.
That's what all the ladies say.
Great reaction to the crowd by Dan in his solo. Awesome
thank you for sharing
This is so good. I now need to see them
Such an awesome, cool rock band. 👍👌👏
