At 0:52 the man on the front right in the black suit is Jack Murphy. Earlier at 0:25 that is Jack Murphy's and Ella Murphy's house. On 603 McDowell Street, the house was constructed in the early 1930s by the Murphy's. John Fitzgerald Kennedy visited the same residence in March of 1960 after making a speech. The President, at the time, chatted with Jack Murphy and later received a beer and liverwurst sandwich for the road.
Jack Murphy also owned a Pharmacy "Murphy and O'Neil Drugs" which is now McCollough's present day.
He popular amongst folks in William's Bay and Delavan.
He is also my great, great grandfather through my mother's side.

Great videos! Where do you find them? I have been very interested in Delavan’s history and architecture ever since I bought 607 E Walworth Ave a year ago.

Great videos. It appears to me these were filmed in the late 1930's not the 40's. I base that on not seeing but a couple later model 1930's cars and no 1940's vehicles. Thank you so much for posting this.

This film is from the 40's. The reason the cars are 1930 models, is during WWII no cars were manufactured for public use, only for military staff. All metal, rubber etc went to the war effort. Car assembly lines didn't start up again until about 1946. Some shots of Borg Corp show part of the fence by the doors. The entire factory was fenced in with barbed wire on the top and a guard at the entrance. I recognize several people in the film and who could forget Pete Lerwick's school bus!

@@Nancy-wj3fv I thought early 1950's because of the saddle shoes- that is when they were in style. Could it be a film over a few years, maybe? Regardless, what a wonderful historical piece of work!

I guess the Delavan part of Wisconsin was integrated after all because @ 2:32 I spotted an African-American boy in the back row group between the crowd of Caucasian boys in front of the school entrance. Then @ 14:51 I spotted an African-American girl in the left corner front row with crowds of Caucasian girls as girl scouts in front of the school entrance as well. I guess the largest white ethnic groups then were Catholics, Methodists, and Unitarians.
