I highly suggest a Dahle 133 for Prisma. It has an adjustable point, set it at two turns back from full sharp for Prisma (I just leave it there for all my pencils). Torque is death to them because they are so soft. You need to avoid the twisting motion and drag of a single blade, especially a dull blade. Eventually you get to the point you can't use them in it anymore because they are too short. However most core breakage occurs when they are longer, so the use of a multiblade rotary protects them, and I never have an issue once they start reaching the end. My favorite small sharpener for the ends is the KUM, I like the glass bottle version. It gives a good solid point that isn't too sharp for them. You need to replace the blade frequently, and you can buy replacement blades for it (if a company doesn't sell replacement blades you don't want the sharpener). You can use any well made sharpener though, just stay away from the cheap junk. A plastic shavings case is fine but it should be a metal sharpener inside. You can't go wrong with good German engineering like the KUM, Dux or M+R. Always hold the pencil, and twist the sharpener. Go slow, let the sharpener do the work don't cram it in there, and keep it as straight as possible. Back in the day they didn't come sharpened, and you could just glue a new one to the end of the old one. I still see some artists doing it, but you have to put the ends together which makes it difficult to read the numbers. My Prisma never break, I can count on one hand how many broken cores I've had in ten years. You just have to treat them like the delicate butterflies they are.

My dahle is the one I’m replacing. It worked like a dream until it didn’t. I’ve tried running graphite pencil through it to clean but nothing helps. I agree I never have problems with them but hopefully I’ll get a new one for Christmas (dahle). Great advice. I do have a kum. You saw my impatience at work. Too lazy to go get it. 💕

I love the blue and gold together. I haven’t decided what colours I’m going to do yet… and I may not get it done today… so I may have to catch up on this one tomorrow
