Thank you John , very enjoyable to watch your garden videos , really giving us a good lifting spirit with the nature , oh , your sunshine personality too ;-))
They are a brilliant plant. Indestructible and great ground cover. The Welsh word for it is Crib y Ceiliog or Cockerel’s Comb, because of the flowers obviously.
Question. When you have a big clump with bulbs stacked 3-5 on one stalk. Should you a) split all the bulbs off, keep them and plant in Spring b) just split and replant further appart, with the corms as they are c) Split and split off corms leaving the last one and replant, keeping the rest for replanting in Spring. I've mitigated some risk by planting about 6 stalks (already cut down from this end of season) in one area. I've split off less than a third of the existing stalks and I've produced about 3-4 corms for each one, so going to store and plant somewhere next spring or give them away.
I live near Victoria British Columbia and I've just watched your first video on crocosmia. I have watched many gardening videos. I really appreciate your commentary and delivery. Your appealing accent, your narratives, and bits of information are unique and informative. The hangy downy and the standy uppy scientific notation is refreshing and direct. Thank you John. I have subscribed. Please don't change your ways. ..even the way you talk about different yellows and colour combinations is briliant. God bless the dandelion puffs because hopefully you'll be gardening for a long while yet. Again, thank you from Victoria BC. I'm about to go out and plant some fennel.
Beautiful South African Crocosmia’s. The yellow look wonderful with blue agapanthus. Red look lovely with white agapanthus both bloom at the same time.
I'm amazed how well its adapting to the climate there...Here in South Africa we dont care much for Northern Hemisphere plants... Crocosmias are amazing
I bought a two half dead crocosmia plants here from a big box store, nobody was buying them here where I live in the U.S. so they were all dying. I never even heard of this plant until watching another UK gardener and was so happy to find it. I'm guessing that's why they were not being purchased, as not too many people are familiar with them here. One died anyway but the other lives on, so I'm so happy to have discovered this beautiful plant.
John Lord's Garden you bet...we have different dialects all over, different lingo influenced by Spanish, English, Scottish ,French, Aboriginal and of course Irish ...keep on keeping on! Great videos! Linda
This guy is legit! These things will take over anywhere that there is good soil and light! After a few years you may find yourself hacking always at a clump with a pick axe! Unbelievable genre in general. What cultivation. For art, we are standing in the shoulders of the giants that developed this species! Brilliant descriptions of how to compose stuff and how to not hold back. A person who hasn't failed, hasn't lived :0)
@olsonlr We have crocosmia in our garden that we got from a clump given to us by my in-laws 22 years ago and they are still going strong. They come up each year without fail and spread too.
Hi my dear friend thanks so much for sharing your beautiful garden with us. It was so pretty pretty so many beautiful flowers all about watch from the beginning to the end.
Good, interesting video. But I don't think he needs the irritating background music. Why do they always insist on adding this?

Dej'vu moment with your "Wild Crocosmia" warning. Were you in the movie, "Water World"? lol Great show.

Why can I only like your videos once each!?! There should definately be a superlike.
He is standy uppy wonderful 🤗
Or a leany downy it's more a sticky outy, don't you love the Irish ❤️🏴
I think every garden should have at least a part for native important plants which support native insects.
Just get rid of that irritating music and it would be perfect.
I’m sending you over to my mom so she can subscribe

I have the “wild one”. Dug it from an old homesite, where it covered a quarter acre.

There seems to be a lot of Irish in the Newfoundlander accent.
John Lord's Garden you bet...we have different dialects all over, different lingo influenced by Spanish, English, Scottish ,French, Aboriginal and of course Irish ...keep on keeping on! Great videos! Linda

Stop the irritating music!
Hello happy John :)
I have had difficulty moving crosomia Lucifer. Definitely not while green. At least here in Georgia
I was hoping you were talking about crocodiles. \😜/ But these flowers are pretty cool too.
My crocosmia had smaller flowers last year. They didn't seem to do as well as usual.
Great show. Just getting to Spring here in Nova Scotia
4.22 Look at that fennel how tall it has grown!
Is that a taxus baccata fastigiata aurea behind you at 4.28?
Hunt Shoot Fish. Yes, it's an upright golden yew, a variety called 'David'.
thanks John - love the channel.
“Standy Uppy” 😂🤣 I Love It !
Is it Happy Hour at the Nursery?
Planted 5 Lucifer corms last year (Australia) nothing much happened; perhaps this year?
I wish he would stand still and stop fidgeting
I love his energy/passion/enthusiasm...and humor.
That's the charm of this channel. He is lovely to watch.
Debbie downer should be your user name not holly hocks. Hes great.
He is just being himself, he is genuine, love him.
Agreed! I love how real he is! However, I found the music distracting. It’s a bit too loud love his content!
This dude is on drugs...
I guess you never saw anybody who is enthusiastic about what they do and sharing their knowledge. Sorry for you.
Can I dead head the spent flowers to make them re bloom. .. do I remove just the flower or the seed pod too? Thanks
Hey there... are there pink or blue crosmias too? Are they growing in shade?
Only reds oranges and yellows
