I had a Warwick Rockbass Streamer 5 string. It was good, for the most part, except it was a 34-inch scale with a muddy B string. Helped me realize how important scale length is.
That is a nice looking bass 😎🤘🏻🎸 I’ve always liked rock bass corvette basses and I’ve actually tried a corvette bass(which is an actual Warwick) years ago and it sounds pretty cool. Killer tones. Especially on lower tunings(I personally like drop B tunings)
Dude that is fantastic. Looking forward to the full review. I had the version with the two MEC Jazz pickups and preamp, in a natural finish. It played great, the build quality was excellent but somehow that bass and I never became friends. It just wasn't a match and we couldn't make magic together. So I sold it, and I still miss it a bit, but it's better this way.
@@JonnyDibble Funny, Patrick Hunter uploaded a cover of Incubus' Are You In on Thomann's Guitars and Basses channel today, using that Rockbass Corvette model with the two MEC jazz pickups, and you know.... I still dislike the sound. Ha!
Great looking bass mate, I used to own a Fortress One and a Thumb back when I was playing metal all the time, never did find a better bass for drop C tuning and that super heavy tone of the MEC pickups. I'm too old and boring these days and I don't gig anymore so I sold the Warwicks and mainly play P or J bass. Oh to be young again.
I’ve been considering one of these myself! From what I’ve seen about this bass I think it’s awesome that it comes factory tuned to BEAD with a 35” scale. Which is great for people like me who can’t get their head around a 5 string but want that low B string 😂 Awesome bit of kit! Can’t wait to see the full demo and review! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Atta boy Timberlake you got yourself a winner there! Do you get to keep it or is it just for demo and review?? I've got the 5 string version of this in the same Nirvana Black and it was $550 when I bought it maybe 10+ years ago and nowadays I've seen them for around $1000! C'mon Warwick what the hell? Anyway I bought it as a backup and because it was so cheap and sounded so much like a real Warwick and it did become my main live bass for a little while. I absolutely love it still but it's in need of a serious setup. More than I'm capable of. The only issue I had was early on one of the Warwick strap locks failed. Just FYI, I wouldn't trust those completely. Love that tone though.
@Jonny Dibble Aww that's bogus. They should let you keep it. The first Warwick I played was a Corvette FNA 5 with a single stingray style pickup and of course they don't make that anymore. I guess it was just too badass or something? Why Warwick why? My rockbass has the regular mec pickups but they still sound great. Extremely versatile bass. If they were still $550 I'd own 2 more.
Very true! I was referencing the design however. Warwick has this design, albeit slightly different for their Thumb Bass, but most of their other basses use it as well.
I've got a mid 00's, MIG Corvette $$ with a swamp ash body and it's an extremely light bass. Apart from the ovangkol neck that's probably heavier than the body itself... Top 3 basses I've ever played in terms of comfort and general kinetic feedback when playing. Better than my Streamer Stage II, which I hate to admit.
Hey Johnny..... Have you ever posted or thought of posting yourself and your Foo Fighters cover band? BTW, if you haven't already done so, you really should try one of the Fender Nate Mendel basses. The slightly thinner than standard neck is outstanding. As is the hotter quarter pounder pup. I also put a hipshot d-tuner on mine. It isn't for everything but it really does great on most hard/alt rock and of course Foos.
I tried one out at my local music store. To be honest I was not that impressed with the fit and finish. It really didn't sound that great either. I tried another and that was the same. The German Warwick's are really great, but the ones made in China are just OK. For £800 there are lots of other brands of basses that would blow a Rockbass out of the water. I really suggest you try one out first before you buy.
Didn't like the rock bass when they first came out. I had one with a heel at the headstock which i thought was quite large & annoying playing on the first couple of frets.
I can't believe that you called a BASS a "guitar" 😒 Warwicks are usually loaded with MEC pickups, I think that only a few models use different brands of pickups.
@@JonnyDibble and you also pronounced the middle W in Warwick, but I guess you are catering for your audience. I love unboxing videos, I get excited when I receive a bass through the post and I see that with some reviewers too, Like Jonny.
I've hated Warwick basses for years, and I mean HATED. With a burning passion. Still do. But I really hoped this one would be different. Yeah... nope. Well, ok, the EMGs help a bit here, as MECs are the absolute worst pickups I've ever had a misfortune to try on any bass. But it still has that typical warwicky "detached" top end which I can't stand. Hard pass. I'll still watch the full review though :-)
Hell yeah, Warwicks are absolute tone machines, and I’ve always liked their aesthetics
I never liked them, but super warmed to them recently!
That body shape is a good specimen of MAN-HOOD, its a very rock and metal looking/sounding bass which really suits the MULLET...🤘
I have a 5-string Corvette, and love it.

Ah thats a shame. This one is BEAD and a 35 inch scale. Very cool!
@@JonnyDibble On 35" scale can I use F C G C (Drop C) tuning?
was a bit worried seeing it poke through the bag, but i tell you what, it sounds great so far! love the finish too!
That's the world renowned corvette dong of power, only outclassed by the Warwick fortress
I have a Corvette $$ and love it. I recently strung it with Lemmy Strings from Dunlop and it sounds absolutely killer
LOVE WARWICKS. Great thud. 🤘🤘🤘
The 2024 Rock Basses have some major upgrades to them!
Not long ago I got a "new" one too, it is a corvette basic from 2013 it was waiting 10 year for me! :D
Have a good one!

Used to own a Corvette Proline Fretless. Along with a Sandberg California, it was the best built instrument I've owned.
Congrats on the new addition. I hope yall vibe together 🤘

Sometimes that's just the way! Being great doesn't necessarily mean it'll be great for you - all about getting the right match 😁

Looking forward to seeing the review of this one. I own a rockbass, and found them great to play.
Sounds absolutely badass
I’ve had 2 Warwicks one was the neck through thumb 5 and I miss that bass every day!!

I think you are the first one ever doing an unboxing of a Warwick bass. From what I've heard they are not really into these unboxing reviews...
I did not know you could get EMGs in a Warwick, I'm curious how they compare to the standard $$ models.
Yeah! Really cool
I used to use a custom set of strings with a .120 low C when I tuned drop C, that .135 might be a little much for the neck.
Warwicks are the best! my 2 favourite basses are warwicks!
Excited to get stuck in!
The classic "Warwick thumb" design! Very nice and congrats on getting that little beast!
Thanks!
The Thumb is actually a bit different. The horns are much shorter on those, the body (IIRC) is also contoured a little differently.
Very true! I was referencing the design however. Warwick has this design, albeit slightly different for their Thumb Bass, but most of their other basses use it as well.
Had a Warwick Thumb BO 4 strong.
Couldn't get used to the thick neck and the neck dive.
Pity as it was my dream bass up to that point.
I've been wanting someone to do a vid on this bass. Was super interested in it, but I could never find any good media/reviews on it.

Do you still have this bass? What gauge of strings did you use for drop C? Can you mention the exact product name? Thanks
@@adityabali1939 this was just on loan from Warwick unfortunately
I could never get over the phallic upper horn hahaha!
I didnt knew you still could buy that model.😀
Indeed you can!?
Always fancied one ...but never had the cash and not totally sure I'd like it if I got it.
Pretty sure Taranis is 35 inch scale meant to be tuned to BEAD. Seems like a monster.
Also is this your first bass with EMGs?
Yeah! Discovered that afterwards

I’d call it a horn Jonny
*horny
It's called a horn.
And I have two Warwick corvettes a RB and a German made standard. The “horn” also makes a great carry handle! Enjoy that classic warwick growl !

That's not a real Warwick. You need to get a pro series or better to get one that ain't outsourced to China. It makes a difference, it really does.
I’m a big fan of loads of Indonesian and Chinese basses. This one not so much
