I am looking forward excitedly to the "sakura" trees from South America. Please take inspiration from Japan about how they plant their sakura trees. I dream of doing hanami in Singapore. Thank you to all the people working in the past as well as those in the present time to make Singapore a garden city.
While Costa Rica is a lovely place and South America is absolutely fascinating, why aren't we planting native trees in Singapore? We're home to dozens of species of Diptocarps, which used to make up our rainforest. They're all threatened or otherwise in danger since less than 2% of our rainforest remains. Why not create a mini secondary rainforest as a garden? As much as I want to support this initiative and as much as I admire the work done by these people, why introduce non-native species to Singapore when we could try to work with the abundant biodiversity we have here in Singapore?
As much as this is a nice initiative, I wish we would look more towards native species from the region (SG/MY/ID) in order to preserve local fauna which depend on them for survival.
true. when i saw one of the criteria of this project is ‘evoking nostalgia’, i have to disagree. we have to move on and consider our local ecology and therefore use local species, as we know what happens if we introduce alien species. tabebuyas and calliandras are good and all but i’m concerned of their invasive potential as i saw lots of these plants seedlings in open spaces here in jakarta. we shall use plants from sumatra and borneo (as they also have more cultural connection to us than these imported trees)
to NParks: can we have the Jacaranda mimosifolia trees in Singapore? It's one of the most common trees in Argentina's capital city, Buenos Aires. It gives such a beautiful blue/purple/violet colors flowers that we seldom see in Singapore.
Our lipstick palm, don't look very healthy in Costa Rica, maybe too cold for the palm. Need tons of sunlight and a moderate temperature, cloud forest don't seem conducive.
The Mandarin-speaking population in Singapore 🇸🇬 is a *big problem* for Singaporean national security when they - connect with the authoritarian expansionist regime in China and - subscribe to their version of world views.
As if Singapore could get even more beautiful. I think it's the most spectacular modern city in the world. No one does it better.

But it’s cold there right
please reconsider using local tree species
I rather we have more raintrees imported in so I'm not hot when crossing the road.
Lee kuan yew is so high browned
Please bring more cati
Phyllanthus emblica, Pouteria lucuma
why not borneo or sumatra? there are plants that suits better for soils and climate of maritime southeast asia than continental south america

"Biodiversity is constantly threatened by climate change" 😂😅🤣. Replace climate change with the word Humans
