How serendipitous...my main machine just decided to not work at a class last Sunday and I just brought home a metal cased machine that belonged to my grandmother that needs a lot of tlc.

Hi there, I'm so sorry your machine gave you issues when you needed it the most! The Kenmore 385 machines are truly GREAT machines, and in my honest opinion, are highly underrated! They were actually made by Janome, which is known for their durability and quality. I've not ever had a 385 completely die in 15 years of service work, which is incredible. Anyway, there are known issues with them - if you'd like to email me detail about what's happening or not happening, I can probably tell you more about the issue. We do cover many fixes in the Remove Your Covers program.
Also, on your older Kenmore, no machine is too old for our Vintage program! We LOVE Kenmore machines and I have a hard time leaving them when I find them at thrift stores and yard sales.
Feel free to email me with details about your machine's issues at info@fixandsew.com. Also, consider joining our open house event, I'd love to meet you!

I did check out your open house but unfortuntely I have a series of deadlines between my church and homeschool that will leave me flying by the seat of my pants the next several weeks. I just warned my family an hour ago that there will be a lot of take out food in our future, lol. I also wanted to make sure and reply and thank you for reaching out to me. Sadly I will have to wait until the latter half of May to get my schedule back, but you give me hope in what you said. I love this machine and tried once to replace it and ended up taking it to the shop in the end and it had been working great. I cant even troubleshoot it until late May too. I look forward to seeing if you have anything else like this event going then. ❤
