- Coming up the Sacramento Mountains to Cloudcroft NM from Alamogordo, it began snowing today. The roads were icy and slippery. To get home I drove slowly in four wheel drive so I would not lose control. On Highway 82 a black truck lost control and slid into my oncoming lane. I saw him and slowed down so we didn't collide.
The Christmas music is from a CD by Newbourne Media LP, Wiseguyz Productions Inc. Galway Singers are not listed anywhere on the CD. You Tube bot erroneously credits them.
I would like to move there, nice area
Robert, make it happen. Life's short.
I live in Santa Fe and haven't been to Cloudcroft since the 80's. Have to get back down there. Oh, I hate Christmas music hahaha. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure Dave. Hope you can visit Cloudcroft again.
I lived in Cloudcroft in the mid-seventies. I am the only New Mexican in a family of Texans. A favorite NM saying is "If God had intended for Texans to ski, he would have given them mountains!" I live near Santa Fe now. My sister lives just down the road you were driving on at the end of the video. It used to be called Waterfall Estates where she lives.
The waterfall and the spring where my sister lives are the headwaters of the Penasco River.
I drove along the Penasco this evening on the way home, after taking my dog out for a ride. It's lovely. Someone has new cattle at some areas along there - they have long horns but I don't think they're Longhorns. Some of the cattle sat along the Penasco. Just beautiful.
I love proving old sayings and cliches wrong! As a Texas boy I rip down mountains more than any New Mexican other than the Great Ross Anderson who is an Mescalero Apache who held the North American snow speed record at 154 mph for a while....great dude! Hung out with him in Taos 12 years ago or so.....inspired me big-time
Sense when did New Mexico get snow?
Hi Nelson, NM has desert, high plains and mountains. Usually snows each winter in the high elevations and occasionally in the desert.
How far is this town from the capital city of New Mexico?
Nelson, it's about a four and a half hour drive from Santa Fe to Cloudcroft (about 240 miles). The most scenic route is to take hwy 285 at some point.
