This is why we are told to focus on breathing when anxious. You can't focus on the anxious thoughts while focusing on the breath. And it also activates the vagus nerve of course. Being hard of hearing and unable to trust what I do hear, I had to rely on others telling me what sounds good then remember how that feels.
Sarah, breathing is indeed an effective technique to help manage anxiety. Focusing on the breath helps redirect your attention away from anxious thoughts and calms down the nervous system. The activation of the vagus nerve, which regulates the body's relaxation response, further supports this process. It's good to know that you've found alternative ways to manage your anxiety despite the challenges you face with your hearing. Remembering how different sounds feel can be a helpful strategy for you.
