How to relaunch your kite in deep water So your riding down a good size wave and outrun your kite and the wind just shuts down or there is a big hole, your kite will drift downwind, you must get one of the tips back up into the air with out getting the kite crushed in a wave. At this point u must make a choice of exec ting or going for the launch. A big wave can swallow your kite and pull you under like a freight train so get a good breath if that happens. Pull on one side of your bar to raise the wing tip into the wind this should launch your kite remember to sheet out so as not to stall the kite on the relaunch then body drag yourself back to your board using your arm to navigate. Spot your board when you fall and keep an eye on where it floats. Good luck

I’m only at intermediate level, so when this happened to me a couple of days ago I was very concerned to say the least! I had miscalculated that I had reached the deep water. The wind was insufficient for me to relaunch the kite. The tide tugged at my board so I was pulled into a bad position in the water. But I was determined to keep the board on my feet otherwise I’d lose it. So, drifting downwind and down tide with my pals about a mile upwind I was in a pickle! Then… my feet touched the ground. I was able to sort myself out.
Lessons learned: 1) Be very careful not to get into deep water. 2) Buy a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) in case I need rescue.

Did you touch the ground while relaunching or it was too deep to touch it?

Nope, it’s pretty deep up there. You just have to get one side of your Kite. Take Phil with Aaron and it pops right back up.
