    Before 1967, the levi's type 3 was not slimmer than the type 1 or 2 . The 557xx, the predecessor to the 70505, the "modern" type 3, was very boxing often sporting a larger chest dimension than back length-- 22/21.5 for a size 42. However, after the 557 was discontinued, a longer and more tapered jacket took its place which ran up until the mid 80s.
