For me, Blender has a steep learning curve, but thanks to you I am really catching up and feeling leaving SketchUp isn’t such a big deal after all. And your outro always makes me laugh so I thought I drop you a thank you from a absolute beginner. Thanks!
Thanks soooo much! I’m working on a car body, trying to turn a four door into a two door. I needed to merge what was part of the rear door into the fender. I could NOT get those vertices to merge! That is UNTIL I saw your video showing to use the JOIN option. Now I’m back in business! I’m getting things all joined up, and you just learn something new every day! 👍🏾👍🏾
7:17 is my jam! Been driving me bananas!! Every day is more learning! And that means this channel! loving it more and more every day! EDIT: I mean the real jam is 0:01
Thanks, very helpful. I've just come back to Blender after more than a year of not touching it (had about a year and a half on and off experience before that), and was having a lot of issues. Did an intersect boolean and the result was so many duplicate verts.... the 'merge by distance', which I forgot about made clean up 1000x easier.
For some reason, in 'options', I don't see anything for 'automerge' (i'm using blender 2.9)..Do I have to enable it somewhere? thanks for the great video : )
Yes this was very helpful... as an old Sketchup user I have started to look at Blender and it is pretty overwhelming! Ideally need tutorials which show how to make some simple model using just a few tools (and please, without using hotkeys). So that way I can learn step by step instead of following a tutorial which tries to introduce the whole UI at once.
So I would say that you're most likely not going to see many Blender tutorials without hotkeys - it's really a best practice to use them as they accelerate your modeling significantly. I know it's slow at first, but it's worth it in the long run!
My problem is trying to preserve UVs on an animated, fully textured, model with shape keys to get it lower poly for VR. Is there a way to split UV vertices without adding new vertices/new geometry?
Whew! Finally got it. Many thanks! The 2.7 was different from the 2.8 was different from the 2.9. My learning curve is hitting some frustrating notes now 🤨
Thanks for 5:58. I have a uniform I made in Marvelous Designer that has a larger amount of faces/vertices on the gloves and kneepads while in Blender. At this point in my project I feel the extra vertices are unnecessary and I wanted to know how I can have those pieces match the main material of the uniform. Merge by distance really helped once I understood it and I think it's really gonna help my workflow in putting my uniform back together. Still a Blender noob so this is super helpful.
Nice and clear video! However I'm still having my issues. I am trying to attach a character's face (object 1) to a sphere which is the rest of the head (object 2). I am removing the mesh from the sphere to create a space that will house the face. Then I'm using ctrl J to join the 2 objects as 1, and then attaching the mesh of the face to the mesh of the sphere by snapping the vertexes together. No matter how I do this, and no matter how neatly I connect the mesh, shade smooth comes out all wrong. Hard shadows and messed up lighting form in the areas where both objects are joined. I've tried snapping the vertexes of both meshes together, I've tried grid fill, I've tried hitting the F key to join the mesh, I've tried selecting all and merging by distance. Shade smooth is still causing chaos. In the dozens of videos and forums I've been through, nobody has ever explained how to prevent this
I have some faces that intersect. I merged 6 planes to make this star shape, and want the intersecting planes to "cut" each other so that I can adjust the geometry...but don't know how to make the intersecting edges cut each other. I could really use some help.
damn man all I needed is to Press M and merge by distant? was trying to import a ps2 character to UE5 since yesterday man those older models got a lots of over lapping vertices I tell you
I was watching a video course for blender, and they were using 2.8, but i am on 2.9. i was so confused because the merge button was not in the same spot for me as it was for the teacher. thanks this helps a lot!
Hi, and thanks for all your videos you do. Ive seen lots before - especially with SketchUp. I need best advice on how to join 2x terrain squares together at the edges and its seems this video was good for that...ie 2 similiar sized terrains with big gaps where they meet up from different heights and different vertex positions also. I wanted to keep the 2x mesh as separate once adjusted so that I can make use of frustrum culling and maybe LOD's to turn off ones not needing to be shown for better performance...is the merge by distance the best bet here ? or is it easier in SketchUp ?
Thank you, this is really helpful! I moddeled a figure in blender last night strictly out of vertices by starting from one vertex that i added. Then after making the wireframe i filled in the faces, but there are a lot of vertices that are on top of eachother but not snapped together and the Shade Smooth feature has no idea how to shade my figure :( But i think i can make it now with these tips :)
great tutorial, I have a slightly different question, sometimes I use boolean and have trouble selecting vertexes. Do you know how to select an entire row of vertexes at once by clicking with the mouse? or a whole row of faces. I know it can be done not only by marking.
I don't understand what booleans have to do with vertex selection, but try tabbing into edit mode, click on one vertex, then do a Control Click and click on the vertex on the other end
You're always my go-to for quick fixes and really appreciate all your efforts 🙏
Keep up the good work and never change your intro 😂

You're Videos have saved me on all the places I seem to get stuck on. I just wanted to say thank you so much!!!
I'm getting addicted to your channel ) Keep up spreading the knowledge man!
Hi everyone! Let me know if you have questions about any of these tools in the comments below! :)

Thanks. You're a genius. I understood everything about merging points in blender in just 10 minutes.
Thank you for all these simple but handy tutorials
Bro, you just saved me hours of messing around, much appreciated!
Man. I never new this. Thank you for this video. If I told you what I was doing before to merge all the extra vertices you would LYAO.
Glad it helped!
Brilliant tutorial. just the info I needed, thanks

Oh my god you just solved such a big problem I was having in blender, Thank you!🤩😍
2:17 I've been using Blender for a year and watched tons of tutorials. I had no idea that snap menu could do this!
Very helpful! Thanks Justin!

you rock bro. It is all I can say. Cheers from Austin Tx.
I literally dropped my jaw at "Turning on Splitting Edges and Faces with Vertices". We are already pretty darn close to sketchup modelling style!
same here 😍
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks so much! your videos are always so helpful and to the point!
Not exactly what i was looking for... but i ended up learning something anyway... thank you.
Yes! That's what I looking for right now!. Thankyou Sir!
Glad to help
This was so helpful thanks!!
The most useful tutorial today :)

This was a great tut that helped a lot!
thank you for the tips! it really helped me clean up some meshes i downloaded and wanted to edit for my purpose
HI! I am making the same journey, from Sketchup to Blender. Nice to have your tutorials here
Glad I could help! :)

Thanks for that. Quick and to the point.
Man, thanks to God for your life, thanks for share your skills to us, my best wishes for you and family
Thank you , I seen some tutorial regarding automerge all of them forget the mention it is not workin with separate object.
Thanks a lot it was that auto merge i was looking for
Thank you! I needed this!
Great tutorial! Thank you!
a big big thanks man!
Very useful! Thx!
3:00 This helped me a lot. Great tutorial!
you can also use the knife tool. It also works that way and it's way handier in my opinion
Really helpful 💖
What is meant by "If I was to tab into it"? If you hit tab you mode change from edit to object mode or vice-versa.
Whew! Finally got it. Many thanks! The 2.7 was different from the 2.8 was different from the 2.9. My learning curve is hitting some frustrating notes now 🤨

Forgot to mention the face was created using a curve path, the head was created using a mesh UV sphere. Are these not allowed to be joined together?
I figured it out. Select all mesh then Shift N. Shouts to @dariusyoung

strange thing : sometimes the "merge vertices" options will show up, sometimes don't, how to fix it ?
I was watching a video course for blender, and they were using 2.8, but i am on 2.9. i was so confused because the merge button was not in the same spot for me as it was for the teacher. thanks this helps a lot!
Hello , can you merge a vertex into a edge ?

Is there any other way to access the m option specially if you are using a different key preference like universal 3d key preference
How can I do this with code . I did try mergeVertices() function but its not working is There any one can help me please enviorment THRE.js js
i can't find the option merge at last or at first? how did you get there? thx
hi, can you show us how to delete half of the circle? thanks..
Thanks dude
No problem!
IS THERE A WAY TO MERGE "BY DISTANCE" WITHOUT DELETING VERTICES?
Whenever i merge two objects one is still grey and the other is purple and it messes with the shading where i collided them
yes master it is helpful
Is there any way to literally merge the 2 objects into one in the edit view?
Perfect infosss
:)
thanks a lot
Very helpfull!👍
helpful!
eyyy thank you for this tutorial!
No problem!!
thank you thank you
Glad you liked it!
THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No problem 😊
Sir...how can i merge the vertices of two different objects ??
The last section is called “joining objects so vertices can merge” - check it out. That might help?
amazing 100000000000 thx
Thanks bro
No problem!
Is this available in 2.79 ??
Can you do these things with version 2.8 too?
Probably. Not sure if the menu options are in the exact same place or not

Me: wants to make a simple merge
The alternatives I watch: “Okay now at step 17”
The tutorials I don’t watch: *1 step*
Aoooooooo whatsupppppp guuuuuuuuuuuys another blender toturial 😅😅😅 😂😂😂😂😂
Top!
