Mascara for short, straight lashes | Heroine Make Advanced Film, Etude House Curl Fix | Demos

Your heroine make mascara experience speaks to my soul! I’ve used and repurchased for years, but after a while idk it just doesn’t “work” anymore to hold a curl. I kinda got sick of the fibres too after a while, used to think lengthening mascaras was the bomb but after trying decent volume mascaras i think i prefer no fibre formula more nowadays.
Etude Curl Fix is reformulated and renewed with new wand though if you don’t know already. I’ve tried both old and new formula, with the latter expressing cleaner definition, and much less clumping, as the formula is not as wet as the previous. I loved the renewal one fresh, but it’s been 5 months since I opened and I feel the formula is much drier now and doesn’t hold a curl as well as before. Big sad :(
I’m using Kose Curl Keep Magic nowadays and it’s really good. Been curious about comb style mascara wand for ages and have been enjoying using this one!

I have hooded Asian eyes that push the first third of my lashes down and my lashes in general are super stubborn and straight. The etude lash fixer as a primer is a game changer-but only the clear one, I brought the black one because the clear one hardens and leaves a white residue, but it doesn’t have as strong of a hold. The clear one holds your curl-not perfectly or completely, but had I not put the clear lash fixer on the curl would have completely disappeared.
In addition, a heated eyelash curler makes everything so much easier. If you don’t, use a hair dryer but be careful when it comes to anything going close to your eye, test it with your hands or something first to make sure the temperature is safe. (I’ve been placing my shu uemura lash curler on top of the radiator for a min or two and that’s not safe I know but like. My lashes actually curl when I use a heated lash curler it’s insane!!)
Lastly, for the mascara itself, I used the heroine mascara and it’s great, definitely gives you anime lashes, sadly my tube is running dry since it’s been almost a year. I will say the wand could be smaller for me because I end up getting some of it smudged around my eyes, and it’s more difficult to use it on my lower lashes because of the larger wand. And yeah it’s a HUGE pain to take off, they sell a remover for it too though, and I use it for removing eye makeup in general.
I used rom&nd’s mascara, and I like it too, but it works best with a heated lash curler or else it will just weigh down my lashes.
I’ve had my eye on the clio and etude mascaras.

How's the smudging like? I'm okay with Western mascaras bc I have pretty long lashes (but have like 10 strands per eye) but the smudging at the top (when I open my eyes/where the lashes hit my brow bone) is INSANE. I live in a humid climate and have frying pan-oily skin.
As for recommendations, I find Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof does hold a curl pretty well. I've been using it for YEARS and it's the only one that works for me - lengthens, volumizes, holds a curl. It's just that the smudging started when I moved countries and the humidity is kicking my mascara's butt!

I personally dont have big problems with smudging but i have a friend who stooped using the heroine mascaras because they smudged on her and uses the curl fix now.
Oh man I totally forgot I used the falsies for quite a while and really enjoyed it. I went back and tried it after a few tubes of heroine make and remember not being as impressed with the curl hold but honestly it’s been so long that I might give it a go again

I loved the heroine make advanced film volume but it smudges on me. Wish it didn't!

Which one looks better? Volume or the lengthening one?

For now I've been liking the volume better. I find they both lengthen the same amount, but the volume one does give a bit more volume.

Have you tried a primer?? Maybe hunt for a good primer that work together w your holy grail.

Ive tried a few primers but felt they looked to heavy with mascara on top too, maybe i should keep trying
