Buckingham's guitar is a Rick Turner. It was designed especially for Buckingham. All Rick Turner guitars are handmade

They are great because the songs are not about something one of them dreamed up. They are about each other and the emotional relationships between them. That makes their performances passionate!!!

They sang to each other since they were teenagers before the days of their band Buckingham/Nicks, years before they were in Fleetwood Mac.

This is1997, 20 years after they broke up as a couple. But even after their personal relationship ended in 1977, they still remained together in Fleetwood Mac for another 10 years until Lindsay left the band in 1987. Stevie left a few years later. So, this is a reunion of the classic lineup together again in 1997.

Due to the wealth of materiel Fleetwood Mac had for "Rumours" this song didn't make the cut . So that is the place & context this song was created in , so you should keep that in mind . IMO This is a much better version than the studio take .

If you listen to Stevie's version of that story... Lindsey Buckingham cut the song just out of pure spite.

@@kurtsaxton823 She never said that and if she did it would be ridiculous As the chief arranger if Lindsey didn't like the song all he would have to do was say "Nope" like he did to Planets of The Universe. Stevie joked he said "nope" to that for 30 years every time she brought it up. He was the only arranger in the band for her songs. Christine said she never knew what to do with Stevie's stuff - that she needed Lindsey to first translate them into music for her (like the Dreams demo which she said was boring) Instead according to Rolling Stone 20 year Dance retrospective he spent 5 months composing guitar parts for, arranging and producing Silver Springs. He was also the Producer & Musical Director for the Dance. He called the song beautiful and bittersweet.

@@caps689 and by the way you're not educating me anything about Lindsey Buckingham or Fleetwood Mac, I've been following Fleetwood Mac since the Peter Green years, I bought Buckingham nicks when it first came out, I even remember Fritz Stevie's first band. @@kurtsaxton823 She's bitched about it not being on Rumours for years - which is silly enough since she refused to have it or GDW cut down to fit. But over the decades she reserved her ire about SS for Mick. I've never seen her say it was Lindsey's fault but then she changes her stories all the time but it would be absolute bullshit.

Hi Inna! Yes, lots of drama in this band not only Nicks/Buckingham split but the McVie's (Christine on piano and John on bass) marriage dissolved also. I also heard that the drummer Mick Fleetwood was involved with Stevie for awile. All their personal dramas put into writing their album "Rumours" one of the best-selling albums of all time and made them rich. 😂

The funny thing about this performance is that in reality, Stevie is the one who's truly haunted. She has never gotten past it. He moved on married, twice? Had kids and all.
Everything about her music with Fleetwood Mac was him, how well he knows her and Christine, John and Mick being as attuned to what the song needed.
She can't escape her love for him or his love for her.
    The chemistry is unmatched.

The name of this song was inspired by a highway sign that Nicks noticed while driving through the state of Maryland. Silver Spring [not Springs] is the name of a suburban community near Washington, D.C..

  • @caps689

    Stevie Nicks on Silver Springs
(1997) In six weeks of rehearsal, it [performing Silver Springs for the MTV special] was never like that...Only on Friday night did we let it go into something deeper. When we went on Friday, I knew we'd bring it out in case it was the last thing we'd ever do. The other shows were really, really good, but they weren't the show I wanted to leave behind. This show was...I wanted people to stand back and really watch and understand what [the relationship with Lindsey] was."
(1997) “I'm so angry with you. You will listen to me on the radio for the rest of your life, and it will bug you. I hope it bugs you.'
(1998) I wrote Silver Springs uh, about Lindsey. And I ~ we were in Maryland somewhere driving under a freeway sign that said Silver Spring, Maryland. And I loved the name. ...Silver Springs sounded like a pretty fabulous place to me. And uh, 'You could be my silver springs...' that's just a whole symbolic thing of what you could have been to me.
(2009) The song is about her breakup with Buckingham -- "I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you," she sings. "It was me realizing that Lindsey was going to haunt me for the rest of my life," she says. "And he has."

If he didn't want to they weren't worked on at all for FM. He's not the one who complained about lyrics - she ranted about Go Your Own Way's Packing Up/Shaking Up for 40 plus years.
