Was the auxiliary tank hard to install? I had trouble installing the same navigation tower and Rade Garage wasn't very helpful. The time zone difference and them not having a phone number made things more difficult. Hopefully the tank is pretty simple to install.
Great overview of your setup! I just picked up a 701 and I'm getting it setup for next year. I love the aux tank setup into the vent hose, brilliant. Nice job with the packing. Clear and concise video, well done.
Interesting the way you connected the aux tank- are there any downsides to doing it this way? And is there like a forum page where people discuss this or where did you first learn about it? Many thanks!
Hey Johannes, thanks for watching. I've had no issues running it to the vent of the OEM tank. I really like it. ADV Rider forums have a lot of information about this set up. I made the choice to do it this way after watching some videos of 690 / 701 riders doing the same. Thanks again for watching.
What range are you getting with the rade tank etc ? Also, thanks for sharing weight of each item. everybody brags about the 690 weight vs middleweight twins, but then add a million extras but don't track their new weight.
Three observations: The crash bars protect what exactly? You are using the OEM exhaust. I had on all three 690s the experience of very hot surface temperatures. Especially with soft baggage, I used Giant Loop Coyote, the plastic side panel melted. With the aluminium canister from Remus, Sebring and Akrapovic (titan) this problem was solved. No comment on the seat? I had one high KaHeDo seat on my 2010 which was very comfortable and durable (+ 100 k km and counting) and an the 2016 one high Touratech seat (manufactured by KaHeDo, too) which smaller but still much better than OEM
Thanks for the observations. The crash bars are fairly self-explanatory. I've had them on every adventure bike and without question they've saved me the cost of replacing plastics many times. Awesome that you don't need them though. I must go down a lot more. I agree that the OEM exhaust is heavy and gets super-hot. But no issues with melting of the luggage thankfully. As far as the seat goes - again no issues. I did shave the seat down and now its wide enough for long hauls. Thanks for watching.
@@DustyBiker Really nicely thought out setup. Good job! For what it's worth, with that Rade setup, the straight through can of your choice and some Rottweiler tuning it picks up a good amount of low and mid power and part throttle response. Perhaps because of the extra power, I found my '23 Husky 701 actually feels and works better with taller 16/45 gearing (+1/-1 from stock). RPM drops from 5.1K to a comfortable 4.7K at 70 MPH, the bike has better "legs" gear to gear on the road. To my surprise it actually feels better off road, not stuck between 1st and 2nd gear so much, and allowing more control over hanging out the rear end in 2nd in turns. Tight clutch slipping bits are the same really, little impact there. I do kinda ride like a nut though, sometimes while on the big bike I forget I'm not on my 300 XC 😆
Hey Craig - thanks for taking the time to comment. I’ve been considering that gearing ratio for the last couple years. Maybe I’m just not quick enough - but sometimes I feel like 1st is too high and 2nd to low. Thanks for that suggestion.
How does the Rade Garage fairing handle the wind at speeds around 60-75mph? I’m looking into getting one and hoping it helps with wind so I can travel a little further.
The rally kit adds great wind protection and the front end feels planted with the extra weight. Certainly makes longer rides more enjoyable. Thanks for watching John.

does your exhaust burns your left saddle bag? (i have those bage with a 701 and the exhaust is hot)
It certainly gets hot, but no melting as of yet on these or my mosko's. I've added a heat shield since. Appreciate you watching.
Excellent breakdown of what's needed. No fuss, just the essentials.

The 701 is a beast. You’re going to love it.
+1 on the Rade Garage tower install. I had a heck of a time with my install. Not a plug and play as I was expecting.

Thanks for the reply - I’ll see what I end up doing 🙂

If you're riding casual close to 400km - if you're tearing it up, much less. Appreciate you watching bud.
Looks great buddy, you will be putting it through the paces in a week!!
Damn right brother. Looking forward to it.
Nice set-up

Dont you have problems with breaking mounting points of factory fuel tank when you carry luggage on the back?
I haven’t. But I do think I should find a better mounting location for that side. Thanks for watching.
Great setup Dusty! Should serve you well on your adventures.
We should ride soon!
Have you dropped the bike since the Rade tower was installed, if so how did it hold up?
I have but nothing that hit the tower. Like any plastics…I’m sure a direct hit would mess it up though.
I'm the guy with the 701 from Facebook great vid
Dude - you're an overlander!! Subscribed. Looking forward to your vids.

Hey Matt - it’s so much better than having the wind on the chest. Was one of the reasons why went this route and very pleased.
@@DustyBiker good to hear! Appreciate the quick response.
@@DustyBiker awesome! Thanks
@@Matt.Bogosian Not a problem. Thanks for watching Matt!
How does the fairing do on the motorway? Good with wind protection? thx
