After killing Slave Knight Gael in the Ringed City DLC and BEFORE starting Ashes of Ariandel DLC, the painting scarp will be placed as shown in the video.
This to me kind of contradicts the theory that you get transported to the future when you fight Gael in the Ringed City. If that were so why wouldn't Gael simply be present to hand you the scrap of painting in what is supposed to be his past?
But that doesn't really explain why Gael isn't there when you come back, unless your presence is anchored to that special time "bubble" you enter when the egg breaks. Either way it seems to contradict the theory that Gael arrives at the final battle the "long" way when you meet him.
If you finished The Ringed City and not AoA, that means that you reached the Kiln. Time has progressed and the world is falling apart. Gael can't be bothered to wait around forever, he has work to do. It's a chance encounter that you meet Gael in the Cleansing Chapel. I don't think he's gone because he's dead: just because you missed him.
Erik Never talk to him and beat the Ring City DLC final boss. He'll disappear after that and he'll leave the scrap behind for you to access Ashes of Ariandel DLC.
I got this cutscene after defeating Gael first

yeah, this is kinda stupid.it is the same with Shira.if you kill her in the "future" why is she dead in the present?
Alex Felker Maybe the Ashen One transported back to the time they left? O_O
Go ask VaatiVidya.

"The flow of time is convoluted"

Gael isn't there with the scrap of the painting, and the scrap isn't next to the candle thing. What do I do?
Do you have the dlc?
@@atlasprime6193 Yes, I bought both of them, but separately, not with the season pass. Does that have anything to do with it?
I'm Krzy No, you should have been able to play them both immediately. Don’t know what’s wrong on your end then.
@@atlasprime6193I started a new game to see if that works, since I beat Ringed City pretty fast anyway. This time I'll go Ariandel before Ringed City.
How do you even get this cutscene?

Heatwave619 huh, coolio
@@atlasprime6193 you just have to beat the Demon Prince that's how I got it
