I found some Dominican brothers practicing ifá I go for reading today I’m lost and tired of living in this matrix… my dad my dad father practice but my dad decided not to pass down to me and my brothers he say (the hart of man is desperately evil 🤷🏿♂️) so for long time I been lost believing in pilgrim philosophy so jus trying find my way

Why should a person have to pay to initiate? I am asking because I am interested in Ifa. All religions I know of would never ask a person to hand money to be initiated. So why is it that we would have to pay the Babalowa?

What is the difference between IFA and OBATALA?
Ifa is the faith (like Christianity/Judaism/Hindu/Islam are faiths).
Obatala is an Orisha in Ifa, like how Jesus, Muhammed (PBUH), Buddha, etc. There is a hierarchy in Ifa and everyone has their roles and responsibilities in your destiny or life. Obatala is a King but not THE King (Eledumare/Olodumare) is. Orishas are the intermediaries or intercessors.

No
Only in the diaspora. Places like Cuba. The African slaves in Cuba had to "hide" their gods under the Catholic saints names in order to hide Yoruba/IFA religion from the slave masters. It's mixed now in places like Cuba. They call it santeria. Or "Regla De Ocha" over there. But it's still Yoruba religion from Africa. Just alittle different. They still have babalowos and santeros. I have my hand of IFA and my guardian angel is Shango. The red and white king orisha.
