This is the most important video for any Makerbot Method user. Sooner or later you will get the dreaded error 81. I have tried everything the company recommended without much help. I called them, they told me, in essence, to get lost as my Method X, despite low hours, is out of warranty. So with a #6 torx and a 2mm allen, I did the steps in the video above, and the Exp-2 extruder came back to life (there was filament stuck between the metal wheels. Thank you for this video. A quick note on the video: place the camera on a tripod, put in manual focus, and set the distance. The content in your video is amazing but the quality of filming is terrible: every time you move your hand the autofocus hunts.

You can even now with simplify3d do away with the labs extruder. You just change the output parameter for what material you have installed. So let's say the printer thinks you're printing PLA but you are printing nylon. As long as you keep some old spools to keep the printer RFID happy
