Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina stands as one of America's oldest working, living plantations, having been established in 1681. Known for its striking Avenue of Oak Trees. These trees were planted by the enslaved Gullah people of Africa. Jose and I were a little hesitant on going to a plantation but we are strong believers that we must face our past in order to improve our future. We were standing on sacred grounds of the Gullah people who worked in harsh conditions day in and day out. Despite their brutal reality, these enslaved individuals forged resilient communities, and preserved aspects of their cultural heritage. The Gullah people relied on family and faith to cope with the brutality of their daily lives.
Today, the plantation serves not only as a working farm but also as a significant historical site, offering insights into the lives of enslaved African (now African Americans), and the evolution of agriculture in South Carolina. Boone Hall Plantation is recognized for its restored structures, such as the main house, the tours of the plantation grounds, and its Gullah history presentation.

Like you Jose, I get an unsettled feeling when we visit places like this, but our ancestors worked hard for us. The scenery of trees are beautiful, my hope is that some of the Gullah ancestors own some of the land in the area. Great information. Stay Safe!

Great video! I also have a big interest in history and our family has roots in Georgia going back to, at least, the early 1800's, mostly near Vidalia, GA. During our Thanksgiving road trip to GA, we were not too far from Boone Hall Plantation and had considered stopping by but due to time constraints, we did not do it. Your video has inspired us to try it again! Safe travels!

Yoooooo... Another fantastic video. The Gullah (Geechee) Culture is running all through my veins. My dad side of the family is from Charleston and as a matter of fact my Grandpa and my uncles helped to build most of Charleston as bricklayers. Thanks for sharing family. Keep the vidz coming...
