I don't know. I am all for tough challenges but when you have downhills that are not even ride-able it just gets silly IMO. Next they will have sheer cliffs that you have to rappel down with your bike on your back.
lincolnlock I have nothing against scary downhills. I just think there should be a realistic chance for a skilled rider to go down them without dismounting.I am 54 yrs. old and have bad shoulder joints, but I still ride off road and downhills don't bother me. I am not afraid to use the front brake sparingly either! When I was younger my bunch liked to make new hills to climb and would even go down them first to mark them with the back tire.
ToxicGamingNetwork It really depends on the terrain, front brake is more risky in gravel, but soil/turf or solid rock is ok! I just use a finger or two and don't apply it hard enough to stop wheel rotation, just keep it pointed straight and be ready to let off. Same goes for back brake under some conditions, just locking up the rear is not the best way IMO! keep it rolling slightly.
Extreme enduro is exactly that and there will always be people transcending the boundaries of what is possible. That ride was proper extreme and well done to the guys who even attempted that ride. Its not for the faint hearted, its for real men with strong character. Extreme enduro needs technical ability/fitness, but more importantly it requires perseverance.
not my idea of enduro riding but each to there own ,brutal stuff must cost a fortune in bike repairs ,great vid and always good to see how others do it :)
MCD Edits great job - thanks. Had a great ride (44 not 14) this was such a small part of a great weekend, three days riding. Day 1 National Enduro, Day 2 Trail ride then Prolouge, Day 3 NWIH, Awesome event, awesome riding and yes there was plenty, run along lines of Romaniacs - plenty of Romaniacs riders in there too, clubmen, Experts, Pros pick where your skill level is!! Great being able to show people what we are into!! PS comments about sick f..ks, bit of cheek not meant for U' tube!
Come on Cross Training Guru...we had some Aussies over doing the Husqvarna Hard Enduro in Tokoroa in Oct 2016. Just hire a bike from Chris Birch, throw in a refresher training while you at it and have a crazy good weekend in Kiwiland, riding some of the best terrain around. Sean Clarke puts on a great event and this year I want to be fully prepared and finish the event. The event is 20th to 22nd October 2017. silverbullet.co.nz/event.php?id=13554 www.foresttrailevents.net/
Good stuff, great looking course and great camera work. How did you manage to keep it so smooth when following the bikes on the exit of the creek? If i run with a cam it gets all jerky etc no matter how much i try to keep it smooth.
hardrider Why not cut the trail with a bulldozer will add to the ease and make it a decent timed trials run ? I'd never suggest making it a little less competitive unless it would bring more interest ..
@ 7:30 it doesn't look like fun, I'm not sure if i would want my young lad around those rocks and boulders, but then again if they are country kids and have grown up around this sort of thing, meh. Great filming, nice editing....I bet they all slept well that night.
Really need some Trials cross training before riding something like this. I didn't really see anyone with good basic control and line reading. Must have been exhausting for these guys.
HEY CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!!! This is some pretty extreme stuff. It's more like carry your bike through the course. I would want to be in the market for a used bike in this area.
AMAZING!!. Men walking their bikes up and down hills! Also rolling down hills next to their bikes and pushing their bikes. Its about time dammit!!! Ive been an advocate against dirt bike abuse for years. Its about time we humans start pushing and pulling and rolling our bikes around. Instead of our bikes always doing all the work!!!!!
I agree, i don't think that section was in anyway 'ridable' by any one, Walkers, Birchs. Jarvis alike, it just looked damn right dangerous, badly thought out and a good way to both injure yourself and smash up your bike, think they are missing the point here, challenging, yes, technical, awesome, ridiculous and impossible to ride? not so much
My thought process went, "cool. WHOA! wtf? No way in hell is he gonna... ...wow... he did it." And then I spent the rest of the video trying to figure out why bother. At the end I realized these guys are warriors, and sure why not have a competition to see who can take their bike ANYWHERE. Yea sure it seems silly to pull a bike up a hill with a rope but in real life if you were out doing a mountain pass with your dual sport buddies and there was a stupid steep hill, you'd all help each other any way you could. Snowmobiles on water or a quarter mile drag strip seems stranger.
Paul Gaudet It's about sportsmanship and getting through the tough terrain as a whole while pushing individual limits in the process... good stuff. Building stronger "communities". Can't beat being on 2 wheels in the middle of nowhere surrounded by good strong people.
So many people complaining the they are walking there bikes down some of the hard obstacles but clearly don't realise that there is a fuck load more riding than what u just see in the video
And two strokes have a ridiculous power band. The first two stroke I ever rode was a little shit 75cc and even on that thing, riding it like your average 4 stroke was having the front wheel constantly come up. lol Of course I had just started riding some time before, so I really didn't have the most excellent clutch control. But still, 2-strokes are insane! :)
Thanks you to the young enthusiasts for running around getting this great footage... awesome stuff guys.
I don't know. I am all for tough challenges but when you have downhills that are not even ride-able it just gets silly IMO. Next they will have sheer cliffs that you have to rappel down with your bike on your back.
I'm with you on that, If it is not feasible for the top riders to stay aboard for most of the obstacle then leave it out
usamachinist I'm quite sure the two of you would never enter a hard enduro anyway. Scary downhills are where it's at!
lincolnlock

usamachinist i try to never use my front brake downhill.. backbrake imo is much more stable when you have good control

My bike would of over heated and died!.
One of the best vids I have every watched. Great job.
That looked AWESEOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! im so sad i didnt get to finnish the series :( . great work on all that footage! :D
not my idea of enduro riding but each to there own ,brutal stuff must cost a fortune in bike repairs ,great vid and always good to see how others do it :)

Nice camera work! Very smooth
Thanks for the video. I was thinking of entering this ride but now I know to keep my butt far away from this race🤣
@8:51"Good job. Now go back up, the finish line is that way." Gotta love enduro with a course like that.
sick! some these guys seem to not know what they are doing but most seem to get it.
damn, some hard technical stuff in there. pity it would cost so much to fly the bike over and have a go. :-(
+CROSS TRAINING, ENDUROCROSS & ENDURO TECHNIQUES
i would donate 20,30 dollars just to see your video from there :-)

This is a whole different level of extreme enduro. Holy Hell.
nice vid appreciate the time and effort! subscribed-
Awesome video man!
Guess one has to be a billy goat for these trails!! DAAAAMN!
Awesome video !
That will teach you something about yourself.. Awsome course
This race has made many happy mechanics!!!
so fucking great clips!! love your flycam and how its recorded!!!! congrats man!
Thanks man!!
Amazing challenge. The good news is there is a sudden increase in parts sales - Pipes, pegs, shifters, etc. LOL. Thanks for sharing!
Very interesting,i never seen something like this
Great video...looks damn hard but fun
they should have titled this " guys walk heavy bikes down hills they cant ride"
7:10 at the top of the hill gave me a laugh
awesome course love to ride that'
Good stuff, great looking course and great camera work.
How did you manage to keep it so smooth when following the bikes on the exit of the creek?
If i run with a cam it gets all jerky etc no matter how much i try to keep it smooth.
We used a Glide cam hd 2000 for the steady fast flowing shots :) Thanks MCD edits
hardrider Why not cut the trail with a bulldozer will add to the ease and make it a decent timed trials run ? I'd never suggest making it a little less competitive unless it would bring more interest ..
what a day!! I got some rough experience with my adv bike but nothing like this. Drop your bike from a small fall.....
OMG the riders are walking more then riding :D
This course would certainly be a challenge, but seriously, doesn't look like it was much fun...lol. Kudos for those who "manned up".
Great Vid!
whatever cam system (glider?) was used for this is brilliant!!
Glidecam, yea it makes the footage so much more smother!
Am I right in guessing the course was mapped out before the rain?
Nice fly cam action.
thanks!
the rain didn't help, good to see former champ trials riders help pull the ropes
Electric Start is a must! I would have keeled over after the first 10 minutes from picking my bike up and kicking it.
I understand a hard course, but this is unreal.
@ 7:30 it doesn't look like fun, I'm not sure if i would want my young lad around those rocks and boulders, but then again if they are country kids and have grown up around this sort of thing, meh. Great filming, nice editing....I bet they all slept well that night.
I am just wondering.... Who is getting these camera angles?!
μπραβο μαγκες. σκληρο εντουρο
nice video of peope walking there bikes !
you use an sj1000?
man you need a trials bike for that course
What bikes do those boys have at :15 All I can find is the 50/65 for my kids but the tires are to small to ride anything off track.
hey kelly the boys at :15 ride ktm 200s hope this will help :)
the get 125,or 80 big wheels
Really need some Trials cross training before riding something like this. I didn't really see anyone with good basic control and line reading. Must have been exhausting for these guys.
What name is the music in this video???
This is just a hiking video... you spend half of it walking your bike through a waterfall
That looks like a ton of fun! Hard, yeah but what the heck. Flop, fall, splash and slide, nothing horribly fast so injuries would be reasonable....
my uncle was in this, he said never again haha lol
Just ghost ride the F'in thing off the top and have a nice walk down that tree'd slope...no problem. Ahhh dang, forgot, I pay to fix this thing.
This is what Trials bikes are for.
Fair play for attempting the course, but odds on it would be a lot quicker (and easier) on a trials bike...
Those Kiwi's know how to have fun!
i had an idea, ride your ktm up the niagara falls, that should be extreme
@4:15 was bad ass!
i cant see the fun in carrying a bike through the woods
i have 14 years old, and i have a TT-R 230, im from argentina and my dad is champion of a regional tournament :), he have a XR 250 :D.
I didn't see any bash plates for that race
Where was this filmed?
Raglan, New Zealand :)
U gootta do that in those spots that place bad dude ole chris fell out
The river section is a little much lol
Oh Wonderful World!
Can't play on mobile?
what kind of gas n oil they run it looked clear
it was probably a 4 stroke
Some of the new bikes are running a 60:1 ratio. My 2014 2 stroke KTM is the same. That is not a lot of oil.
Opening song pleaseeee
I'm watching guys go kayaking with dirt bikes. Wat
This race is not hard enduro, this is powerlifting. There is no enduro skils, only physical power.
4:10 its not even a hill, stand aside....straya!!!
muito bom!!!!
What is an enduro????
HEY CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!!! This is some pretty extreme stuff. It's more like carry your bike through the course. I would want to be in the market for a used bike in this area.
Bloody Hell. That's some sketchy nasty stuff. Doesn't look like too much fun.
เชี่ย!!!!! ทางโหดชิบหายยย!!
Jesus, that creek looked slippery as hell...
Erzbergrodeo?
This video should be titled 'Extreme Bike Walking', no one looks like they are actually having fun. Which is kind of the idea really isn't it?
What's the point of making a waterfall part of the course? Whoever decided that should demonstrate how it's done.
I'm sure they did, and likely also why they had many people out assisting the riders and giving them pointers and showing them the paths to take.
I agree, i don't think that section was in anyway 'ridable' by any one, Walkers, Birchs. Jarvis alike, it just looked damn right dangerous, badly thought out and a good way to both injure yourself and smash up your bike, think they are missing the point here, challenging, yes, technical, awesome, ridiculous and impossible to ride? not so much
The clue is in the name of the event - NO WAY IN HELL!
My thought process went, "cool. WHOA! wtf? No way in hell is he gonna... ...wow... he did it." And then I spent the rest of the video trying to figure out why bother. Want one too tear up
props
man its been years since i did any serious enduro im getting tried just watching...
This race should be called a pushduro
Graham Jarvis would solo the track and be back for lunch.
what's with the disco music
Ohhhhh boyyyyy !
This place is not hell..its bike and physically destroyer. The fun was for those watching.
So many people complaining the they are walking there bikes down some of the hard obstacles but clearly don't realise that there is a fuck load more riding than what u just see in the video
they didnt realise that Hammy macdonald (channel owner MCD edits) is one of the competitors in red bull romaniacs
why so many two strokes is it cause they are lighter,
Yes.
and cheaper to maintain. Everybody where i live who rides enduros have 2 strokes
And two strokes have a ridiculous power band. The first two stroke I ever rode was a little shit 75cc and even on that thing, riding it like your average 4 stroke was having the front wheel constantly come up. lol
Of course I had just started riding some time before, so I really didn't have the most excellent clutch control. But still, 2-strokes are insane! :)
They crazy
Pretty sure you could win this race just hiking it with snow shoes on.
I would be doing some serious butt puckering on a course like that...those hill climbs never look like srs bzns on go pro's.
Mint bike for sale only 1 ride old mostly walked it around .
That dont even look like it would be fun at all!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice :)
this would be damn near impossible to ride the whole race...
Gods hills and mountains always win.
please, no music, the best music is the sound of the motors.
Doesn't look much like Enduro more like Hell
Más que enduro extremo es una carrera de llevar tu moto a cuestas xD
