I love how he switches from a knife and fork to actual weaponry with his sword and mace in the second phase. He doesn’t see you as a snack anymore, you’re a worthy opponent.
Considering that it looks like he's _smirking_ as he takes the weapons out, I wouldn't be surprised. At that point, you've proven you're to be taken seriously.
i love how they implemented the melody from in the hall of the mountain king in this. incredible, bone chilling, spine tingling, and perfect for this game.
Honestly, the shivers I had down my spin when this kicked in on the final boss fight. Then when it gets to the "second" stage and gets more impactful. My god this one of the best thought-out boss fights I have played in a LONG time.
This has got to be my absolute favorite rendition of this song, especially with the context of the game. The horrifying ambiance as you enter the hall, seeing the titan like Mountain King and him swallowing Lillimore whole, him prepping to fight you while sitting in the darkness he created, and then out of nowhere, you get the main melody with those intense drums, brass, and an absolutely epic choir!
When I was walking down the hall and up to the sealed door right before the king's chambers I was like "this should have in the hall of mountain king playing." imagine my surprise when I have to fight this dude WITH A REMIXED VERSION IN THE BACKGROUND. 10/10 game it was absolutely fire
Listen, I played through this game in one night because of insomnia and when the choir at 2:14 kicked in I legit died because my sleep deprived brain put 2 and 2 together and I shouted out loud "THE MOUNTAIN KING!" and then got forked. 😂
I wish I could say that I didn’t expect an epic, operatic version of “In the hall of the Mountain King” to go so hard, but I think we all new it would. It’s a great musical score to begin with, it was simple begging to be brought to new heights. Wonderful music, wonderful game
if you're looking for something similar i can recommend listening to Ludwig The Holy Blade and Laurence The First Vicar both from the Bloodborne Old Hunters DLC.
Martin Wave and Dan Wakefield absolutely NAILED this song! Edvard Grieg’s masterpiece is badass enough in its original state but these guys unleashed the beast and made this song into a hyper-steroidic rollercoaster that is beyond badass and is chanted by the gods and above all it sounds so Hans Ziimmer-ish and I love it! Every act has its own behavior and pump into it the 1st act is terrifying, ominous, and evil, 2nd act is slow, well paced and action packed, 3rd act is godly, explosive, and filled with unstoppable power! I’ve been searching epic remakes of classical orchestra for years and this is King of them all so far TY for making this piece of orchestral art into the best and most badass remix of them all!
This song would go absolutely perfectly in a Soulslike game i has the perfect pacing and an epic choir which would fit a boss similar to Slave Knight Gael or Artorias the Abysswalker expertly
Ever since my sister played this game and STRUGGLED SO HARD through the Mountain King boss fight, this song has become a horrifying anathema for her. She freaks out when she hears it. So what do I do as her loving younger sister? Send her anonymous UA-cam links to variations of the "Hall of the Mountain King" song. It's become my form of RickRolling my sister. 😂😂😂❤❤❤
This section is totally the unofficial theme for when you first encounter my OC Yugoth in the ruins of an ancient city deep underground... SO fitting xD

That's a scepter not a mace
Oh, I hadn't thought of it that way.
Edward Grieg unwittingly composed the OG final boss theme, and nearly 150 years later we finally got the final boss fight for it.
Holy crap, I never thought of it that way. That is *amazing.*

I wish more games would re-imagine/remix classical music and incorporate it into the story/gameplay like this!
You might like the End is Nigh's ost
Catherine also has classical music remixed
The taxi sequences from Valiant Hearts have a lot of classical music and you dodge obstacles to the beat!
Final boss theme of Killer Is Dead is a remix of Dvorak's From the New World 4th movement

Pure orchestral genius for a boss the size of a mountain. Hence Hall of the mountain king.
