I love Wilderness Lodge! We have stayed there 4 times. The creek water through the lobby leading to the pool waterfall is an illusion - somehow by the rocks the creek water goes somewhere else and the pool waterfall is chlorinated. They do a good job with the illusion that it all flows together. You and your Mom got your one day's worth of fun in for sure!
Yes, I think so too. I think they separate under the bridge. Lobby water goes down in a pipe to recycle back to lobby. And pool water is let to under lower side of bridge to flow to pool. Nothing like Disney Magic!

I absolutely love that you cannot pronounce Charcuterie (shar, coot, er, ree) but rolled out smorgasbord no problem. (Schmors, gas, board) You totally surprised me with Mom as your guest, I was fully expecting Brickey. What a fun stay. The pools looked amazing. Also, those weren't horse hoof prints, they were buffalo. There used to be a bison/ buffalo topiary on the side of the path where the prints led up to. Love to you and Mom, and thanks for, of course, taking the pull out.
Adam it’s refreshing to see you spending time with your Mama and including her with you on your staycation. I lost my mother on July 2nd and miss her so so much it hurts! Take time for your folks as much as you possibly can because once they leave you it’s a hollowness in your heart! I know I’ll see my sweet Mama again in heaven some day but I miss her very much! Much love to you both! ❤
I lost my mom on July 14, I am so grateful for the time that I spent with her and the trips that we did together. You are right, cherish every minute you have with them. Don’t take anything for granted.

I agree with you. I miss my mom too. I was able this past year to get my father who's 91 to take the monorail from the Polynesian to the contemporary. The steakhouse 71 for his birthday. His first time he ever saw Disney

I'm sure someone else has already commented on this, but Walt's Train Room is always available. It's in the Boulder Ridge Villas building to the right as you go in the main entrance from the covered walkway that leads from the bus area. It's definitely worth a visit. I love getting Geyser Point takeout too and taking my food in there to eat. It's usually really quiet and they have tables and comfy chairs and couches to just relax. Plus all of the memorabilia about Walt's trains is really cool. I love Wilderness Lodge. Thanks for showing us around Adam.

Just catching this episode, always loved the Wilderness Lodge. Some historical tidbits: the Boulder Ridge section is the original DVC wing. Then they converted some hotel rooms into the Copper Creek villas. Finally, the waterside cabins were added after the success of the Poly bungalows. Interesting to see the DVC expansion over the years.

Adam, my family and I went to River Country in 1983. It was a fun water park. I was only able to do the kiddie water slide but it was super fun to do. Great memories!

I know! I _love_ "Chester drawers"! As you get older, you miss the way that people used to talk. You hear the people you loved in something like that. We didn't think there was anything wrong with saying "chester drawers"; everyone said the same thing! But we were more concerned with not being phony than people are today. And more people cared about not being overly concerned with _trivial_ things than people are today. You become less and less willing to give yourself to trivial things. You care more about the things that matter.
