I honestly think so. For me and I’m talking about me only I’m a husband and father. It’s easier for me to turn on my portal and game sitting next to my wife and kids while they’re watching tv. The whole house isn’t punished watching me game for two hours a day. Then for some the console is the way to go because they have the time on their hands. It really comes down to the person and their personal schedule to determine which is best for them. Great video
This is why I want one. I just got a ps5. But someone is always in the living room or the kids are watching tv when I would want to play. As long as the portal doesn’t have bad input lag while connected to the ps5 I think I’d like it

If you wanna play the games on your machine then it needs to be on or in rest mode to wake up from the Portal. But if you just wanna play the PS Plus games from cloud streaming then you don't need a PS5.

The only way that it would be remotely possible for something like this to happen is if the portal supported offline play. Will it replace the PS5? no. Until Sony comes out with a true handheld device that can carry it’s own weight, the portal will continue to remain just an accessory to have for your console. Don’t get me wrong though, the things awesome!
I am looking to purchase one at the end of the month as the wife got my a ps5 slim for Christmas. Hardly get a chance to game though so may be this will help me get back into the swing of things. Last time I properly gamed was in the days of ps3 slim black ops 2 and gta v days.

Coming from someone who grew up with the PlayStation and then switched to Xbox because it was more affordable, the ps portal is a good way to bring people back to the PlayStation console. I love the 1 player games that are only exclusive to PlayStation so if it’s better on the ps5 it gets me thinking I need one for the one player exclusive games. I got a Xbox series X and yea I’ll play it to play with other players but the portal has me wanting to buy a ps5 just for the graphic experience because the one player games are incomparable. - just a dad who likes games not a real gamer

Have playstation made it easy to switch profiles without the painful logging in and out process I've been hearing about?
I don't think it's painful, me and my son share ours, I just log out and use the QR code on the PS app on his phone and he is automatically logged in, and vice versa, takes about 30 seconds
yes! I would love for you to do that challenge of using the portal for 1 week, but yeah the portal does have its place and its uses. Just interesting to me, but i prefer the full console experience.
If you can purchase games from it then yes it can. If you still have to purchase from a console then no. This is the main reason i haven’t copped one yet because i don’t have a console.
They just removed one of the play in rest mode settings that you were able to keep main monitor off now you can't do this! Back to pulling the hdmi cable again! Was either 4.0.1 update or the feature update on ps5
@ I was playing gta 5 and the graphics looks the same but the driving looks more realistic and when I was playing gta 5 ps4 version on ps5 the ps5 pro was actually help with makes the game less laggy
Thing is about connectivity on console if you are playing most story modes you won't need wifi but I also wouldn't mind built in wifi somehow...also unless the price is on parr with the cost of console it would be a good buisness move in my opinion because If you have a full on ps5 or ps6 handheld are people really going to spend on home consoles if the handheld is cheaper....I think a smart move for sony to make in regards to the portal and maintaining the demand of home console...is to build on the portal make it so you can rip games from the console like a USB by using streaming system...or you can go on the ps network app on your phone and buy games and send to your portal so that it's actually on the portal like in your menu on the portal....but sayinging all of this so it doesn't force out base console demand....another thing is it doesn't have memory...they should add built in 600 mega byte of storage like consoles and make it compatible with external memory like the ssd but in chip form....

I don’t know if they’ll become the “next big thing” for gaming, but it’s definitely not going anywhere any time soon. The GameBoy walked so all these new handhelds can run. That was when I handheld gaming actually was the next big thing for the gaming industry and that trend has continued going up ever since… The new big trend I’ve seen for handheld gaming lately though is retro game emulators that let people play all the nostalgic games from their favorite childhood systems.

Replace, not really. I do use my portal way more now that I’m barely at the crib. I do enjoy it more now that they’ve updated it connectivity wise. It does feel great to have a PlayStation handheld experience. Love the psp and Vita to this day. But nothing is as good as getting home from a long day, going to your gaming setup and immersing in your favorite games.
No it won't replace the ps5, but my portal is great, I've got really good Internet so remote play and streaming from the cloud with playstation plus is really good

How is this even a valid question? Unless your planning on playing single player games and want to give up refresh rate, HDR, etc etc then no. Not bashing the portal, i just ordered the midnight edition, but am I expecting to play marvel rivals, COD, Rocket League, etc etc...NOPE!

PlayStation plus premium service is missing a ton of exclusives like god of war and many more great games so… nope I don’t think it can replace my ps5 anytime soon plus just the fact that playing call of duty in a PlayStation portal it’s terrible that’s a no no for me.
