About The Wandering Village:
In a world where mysterious plants are spreading all over the earth, emitting toxic spores as they grow, a small group of survivors seeks shelter on the back of a giant, wandering creature they call 'Onbu'.
Become their leader, build their settlement and form a symbiotic relationship with the creature to survive together in this hostile, yet beautiful post-apocalyptic world that now surrounds you.
Build your village
A functioning village is the basis of your survival. Build your settlement and expand it over the creature's back. Plan production chains and optimize them to utilize the limited space as efficiently as possible. Create a society that can overcome any challenge.
Live on the creature s back
Living on the back of another organism comes with its own set of challenges. Will you live in symbiosis, bond with the creature and survive on mutual trust? Or will you become a parasite, only aiming to ensure a better life for your villagers? The choice is yours.
Discover different biomes
Travel through a multitude of different biomes and adapt your village to their unique opportunities and threats. Scout your environments and send out foraging missions to gather rare resources and ancient artifacts.
Research new technologies
Remnants of the old world hold knowledge that has long been forgotten, but can be unearthed by your villagers. Find and research these technologies, but use them wisely, as progress can be a double-edged sword.
Survive the wastelands
Ensure the survival of both your villagers and your Onbu, even though poisonous spores, merciless weather, bloodsucking parasites and many more challenges mean that the odds are often stacked against you.

This whole game should be backed heavily because its so unique and different. Its honestly a breathe of fresh air and I'm so excited for it.
Unlike the breath of air you’d get passing through one of those toxic spore areas 😂😂
@@raininghail4049 fair enough lol
backed heavily
"backed" you say? hmmmm
its pretty much frostpunk with cartoonish graphics with the difference being this world is taken over by spores instead of the world being frozen, lol
its still a really nice game so far tho
More of this!! This game looks so cool and has so many different game mechanics. One of the most unique strategy games I've ever seen.

Big yes
Yessss please
Agreed!
There is a word 'onbu' in Japanese which actually means piggyback ride! That's a quite adorable name for the creature.
A giant six legged turtle that's named after a piggyback ride is definitely, absolutely.. a cute name.
@@wikansaktianto9215 Because piggyback riding in japanese culture is seen to be cute and intimate
@@3plecheeseburger Hmmmm.. sounds very misleading.. slips me into Rule34.
There's also "ducko" which is a frontal piggyback.
It's so interesting how honbu and onbu are similar words but mean very different things😄
very interesting. love the 2.5D art. look forward to more of this Matt!
it's not often a game's visuals make my jaw drop but this combination of art styles looks amazing!
@@drewhickcox4611 The art style somewhat reminds me of Heaven's Vault
Wath about 1,5D?
@@ultraapple3997 what would that even look like?
@@tekbox7909 probably like, a very bad quality og mario.
This has a very Studio Ghibi feel to it overall, the poison spores remind me of Nausicaa. The concept of a village on a creature’s back reminds me of Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s world.
Anyway please play more.
YES I WAS LOOKING FOR A COMMENT LIKE THIS! This totally reminds me of XC2’s Titans!
I was thinking Howl's Moving Castle too 😁
Yeah, when I saw the 'basic' villagers clothing II also thought of Nausicaa
Definitely making a DnD campaign where the party has to grow a village on some giant things back while traveling across the game world.
One of the most interesting and fun looking games i've seen in a while! would love to see more of it!
I'm always fascinated by moving Concepts like these and With graphics and mechanisms like this. It makes it even more fun to watch, make more of these Matt!
True I think a growing option could be good. So that you can expand your village
@@bobtheagent9087 or little baby onbus
This whole game gives off serious *Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind* vibes. I love it.
This is so interesting, I'd love a series. Especially once the full game is released.
1:40 A moment of silence for the betrayal of the baby tree. 3:01
* silence *
I like how sometimes RTS Game mix and match aspect of gaming like mortician is an important needs, intricate intertwined building, and now a moving turtle that can be architected as inhabitable place. Architecary is strong with this one.
13:38 "Nice one Hendrick"
*Sad Garnet noises :
I watched the kickstarter back then, it was something nearly everyone wanted to play so they gotten a lot of support.
I love hearing “Hello Fellow Engineers!” every video
Honestly i am thinking of getting engineer now by rce saying that every video, rce is so wholesome
@@smashy6289 Engineering is such a wide and diverse field, I am sure you will find something, that suits your interests very well.
It's not just mechanical and civil engineering, there is environmental, biomedical, agricultural, ceramics, textile, the list goes on and on.
me too
@@kilianortmann9979 mate you are so kind for telling me this I didn't know. You made my interest go higher!
Ive been playing this demo! Its so good but oh boy did I underestimate how quickly the poisonous plants spread. My poor first village did not survive so well once it started hitting the spore storms. Can't wait for the full release.
I remember authors were saying they are working on this game about a year ago on Reddit. Good to see they managed to bring it to life.
Beautiful game, really creative premise and the mix of artworks looks super nice, don't even think about not doing a series out of this!!!
4:20 for starters, that number. Secondly "he's so BIG. 😐" It's hilarious that all your viewers just know the words that follow that statement. You don't even need the full meme clip. XD
Love this game! Really hoping you turn this into a series.
If you want something after this demo to scratch a similar itch, there’s a game called Airborne Kingdom. Plenty of strong, _balanced_ shapes to be had there. Such engineering, much teetering.
That game looks cool but it seems like it has been removed from Steam. Hopefully it comes back so I can check it out.
It's on the epic store
@Roger Winzeler I refuse to support that garbage until they improve their product and stop doing exclusives. Just offer sales on games to entice users, not blocking sales on other platforms. If I wanted that kind of BS I'd own a console.
So it's basically Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, only it's Onbu. (The villagers even look like the characters!) Nice.
MAKE THIS A SERIES PLEASE!! the way you play and ‘narrate’ gives me so much joy. This and timberborners are the ones I follow the ,ost
Love this can’t wait to see you make a series on this
Interesting very interesting, you may continue uploading amazing videos.
Thank you for giving him permission bestie 😌
My favorite about this game is how almost everything has a unique artstyle thats completely different from each other, yet it all works together!
game theory: the THX and other intro sounds are so damn loud so that any ongoing conversations get completely interrupted before the movie starts
Oh, I'm loving this. I hope you'll play the game again when the game is out of the demo version
This game is so awesome! the concept of this has been in the back of my head for a long time so I'm very happy someone has made a game out of it!
Would love to see more of this game, including after it's fully released. This game is adorable, and fascinating!
This game looks so cool, excited to see more of it
"I did the strongest shape, I didn't even mean to!"
I do not believe you for a second.
Absolutely loving this game!!!!!!!
Amazing work by the devs!
I am, super excited for this to get released. Just from reading the description I was super excited for the posibilities that it could present.
I love seeing you play a game properly. You have very interesting approach that I don't often see. Thanks
I've backed this on Kickstarter and I can't wait for it to come out! I played the demo today - it's so much fun!
Please do more of this series, it's really enjoyable!
I've been interested in this game for a while too, I'm excited to hear that it's coming out as a demo soon!
This seems like a good, relaxing, game to play after work.
I love everything about this. I can't wait for them to release it!
Looks like a great game, I'd love to see you do a series on it
RCE RCE! Theres a game where you can engineer spaceships called Sunshine Heavy Industries. Everyone I've watched builds like an architect. The world needs you to show them how its done!
I just played the demo and I honestly love this game!! I can't wait to see what the full version has to offer!
I've been waiting for this game, pleased to see the demo will be available soon.
This was so cool to watch I would love a series out of this game!
I want to see a series about The Adventures of Onbu and the Traveling Villagers! I might have to pick the game up myself. Love your content!
What a unique and fun game! I also love the art so much, would love for you to continue playing this for sure!
Definitely would love to see another one of these! I don't know why, but something about this made me think of Frostpunk. That's another one that I think would be a lot of fun to watch.
Would love to have more of this
I need more of this game maybe a series at somepoint it looks amazing
I hope to see more ! This game seems awesome :)
This game looks so cool! We need more of this!!!
I think the best part is the option of morality of choices in harvesting resources. Do you care for your giant monster taxi giving it food and medical care, and thus gaining its trust? Or do you drill into its back to selfishly harvest its dung and minerals and even its blood at the expense of its health and trust? It would be interesting if the game sometimes forces you to resort to the latter and you have to straddle a balance between care and exploitation...
this game concept is soo good, honestly, i'm really liking it till the first episode of what i hope will be a new series
Very cool, I'd love to see more of this
This was a really fun game to watch. Hope there comes more!
Awesome game! Can't wait to see the full release. Definitely do a playthrough though :)
I’d love to see more! I just wish I could play it myself. 😢

@@ethan11114 the demo will be playable next monday during steam next fest
@@TheRocketRoger Yay!
I'd love another video, I really wanna see this feeding trebuchet! The name alone has so much character behind it lol, this game has such a cool concept
You have to continue this! Such a beautiful and interesting game!
Absolutely loving this series
Looks like a fun game. Would love to see more.
Oh the demo is coming out soon? Nice! I had an interest in this game for a bit.
I've been waiting on this game for over a year now since I pledge it on Kickstarter - great to finally see it in action!
This game and diplomacy is not an option are both very interesting Matt, would love it if you played more of them!
RCE you're the best! Engineering > Architecture
I'm not normally into city games, but this looks fun.
I went to see how much it was and it's not out yet :(
this has a very interesting concept i will defiantly have to play this, i wouldn't haven known about this game if you hadn't have played it thankyou
This is a great twist on a city building game, having a mobile city that passes through different environments. Reminds me of that (terrible) Mortal Engines film.
Would be cool to see a similar game where you're building a space station that travels between planets harvesting their resources, meeting/trading with/fighting aliens, etc. Maybe you're some sort of all-consuming hive species that is strip-mining the galaxy while other civilizations try to stop you.
the artwork of this game is so unique. I'd love to see more of this.
broo this game looks so good! it would b really cool to have an engineer youtuber who could upload more of the game. Great vid Mat and send some love Paddy
I have been following this game for some time now.... Looking good... well up for more of this content.
That's so cool, it's like the light version of Frostpunk and for now I don't want depressing survival, I want adventure and travel.
I love how you feed your Onbu with a freaking trebuchet, this game is awesome
Make More of Those vids!!! I love em. Make a whole series out of this!
16:42 I’m only at this time stamp so I don’t know if you’ve figured it out but I think it’s only when you are below the little cloud on the map that it’s poisonous (and in other biomes) not in the green bit. But as I said only up too 16:42 so could be wrong
Yooo i saw this game on reddit a couple of years ago, the dev posted a progress post. I thought the concept was really good back then and this is even better than I thought it would be.
love watching your channel. the games you play are always exciting ( or maybe that's just the way you narrate) either way love this video. i am defiantly keeping my eye on this game for myself.
I've seen a few different videos of this, and it seems interesting. However, I'm getting 'Frostpunk' vibes. I have a feel players are going to have to make tough decisions regarding how they treat their Onbu. While its easy not to suck on their blood in the beginning, I have a feeling things can spiral out of control with the toxic spore areas leaving your crops ruined. However, losing your Onbu's trust may even be more lethal than some of your villagers starving to death, because they could very well wander into even harsher conditions that you cannot survive.
I've been so excited for this game!!
Seems really cool hope you play it again
I can imagine this would be great animation or movie about this.
such a beautiful game , and superb commentary . and paddy appearances sometime
Rce, you can send search parties to pick up nomads to join you. You don’t have to go in their direction.
This is honestly such a cool game!!! For sure going to download this when possible.
Somehow this game really reminds me of this anime movie called Dragon Dentist
Basically bunch of people living on top of dragon and take care of the dragon's teeth. The premise might sounds dumb but my god it was amazing. The music, the character, the art. Really if anything bad is that they never make sequel for it
i hope you do more like these civilization builder games i love those kind of games!
Really cool and creative. Reminds me of that Dr. Who episode in space on that gigantic wale (Season 5, Episode 2, The Beast Below).
Ooh, that Cel-shaded 2.5D, FPS shooters Borderlands and XIII had that, probably other games did as well, I just remembe those two because I've played both of them.
----
"I built the strongest shape and didn't even mean to." Where's that X button to doubt?
This gwm looks so cool! Please do some more
I'd love to see more of this!
Have you looked at Kill It With Fire? It's a spider extermination game that I think is quirky enough for you. A bit clunky at the start to figure things out, but didn't take me long to get the hang of it.
Definitely want more of this or similar games.
19 seconds in. Can tell I'll love this video already.
This somehow fave me strong spiritfarer vibes so search and nope not made by the same people but they did make niche which is cool. It looks amazing! The style is definitely one of my fave aspects of the game
It would be cool to see a game that have the mechanism that when you build anything in the "strongest shape" it really get more efficient. Hope someday anyone will do it.😁
I hope you continue this game! Make a series!
You did a 'Zunisha', nice!
Great game concept, looking forward to more content 👏 👌 👍
Hey Matt, cool game! It reminds me of one I played called Airborne Kingdom. It’s kind of similar to this except you fly instead!
Bruuhhh I just started yesterday. But it's been so much fun. Although my 3 runs were short it's been enjoyable. I know it's not a guide in the traditional sense but just from watching you play I've learned a lot. And now I can correct a lot of my mistakes
