Toyota Tacoma Lift Install - Alternative Front Install Method

  • Installing a 2" spacer lift on a 2016+ Toyota Tacoma (3rd gen). The front install method used is slightly different than most videos I've seen on UA-cam and might be easier.
    2" is the maximum I would personally recommend for a spacer install as any larger the struts will bottom before the bump stops make contact.
    An alignment is 100% necessary after any lift kit install. This was done while our new larger tires were installed.

    Awesome Vid! Hope you do a follow up on which bigger tires you get. Also a video on how you got the drum brakes colored black. :D

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  Рік тому +1

      Haha, the drums are new. Toyota did the TSB to replace the rear axles for the brake vibration and did new drums and shoes as a courtesy.
      I went with 1” taller tires. Kenda Klever AT2 265-70-17’s. I’ll try and make a UA-cam short later!

    Do you know if installing rear blocks will cause long term issues or anything ? I don’t tend to go off-roading

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  Рік тому +1

      Nope, blocks have been a pretty regular way to lift most trucks and within reason (lift size wise) they don't cause issues.

    Did I miss seeing the truck completed? Was there a before and after photo? Hmmm?

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  Рік тому +1

      Nope you are correct. The after photo is in the thumbnail but I suppose that isn't very useful. The before I just assumed would look like any other TRD Sport.

    Why do you need to replace the needle bearing after the lift? What goes wrong with it?

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  Рік тому

      I wouldn't say anything goes wrong. But it exaggerates the very terrible tolerances of the factory CV axle vs the needle bearing on the drivers side of the differential when you change the CV angles. The result is an oscillating vibration you can feel in either the floorboard or steering wheel and if quiet enough you can hear it (super annoying). This isn't a failure, just more of a nuisance where the ECGS bushing closes up the tolerance and eliminates the vibration/oscillation.

    • @ncv4708

    Nice Job how is the ride quality?

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  4 місяці тому

      It actually didn't change the ride quality much. The tires are what made the ride quality a bit more harsh.

    Did you paint your rear drum breaks?

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  5 місяців тому

      Nope, they were fresh drums from Toyota that were done part of a TSB.

  • @rrangel3015

    Do you have vibrations on the driver's side???

    • @ncv4708
      @ncv4708  Рік тому +2

      Yes I did. Probably 90% of Tacoma owners who lift their trucks get this vibration from the needle bearing. I installed the ECGS bushing and it fixed the issue.

      Not that I could tell. Everything has worked perfectly with the pre collision detection.
