      Zombie Farms 2 hour line wait for a ride that lasts around 2 minutes; seems like a balanced trade off. For long wait times, there should be a mobile liquor cart roaming the lines.

      The air conditioning systems helps keep the glass cleaner, preventing dust and dirt from sticking to the surface by blowing over the surface at a controlled velocity and temperature, which also helps control any moisture from forming as well. There are also coatings that serve different purposes and can be used for particular applications as well.

    something to do while at disney parks is to get the train crews autographs i always make a point to do it and every time i have they get super happy i remember one time there was an older man who said he had worked there for five years and i was the first one to ask him for it

      Ducksauce it’s more of a way to show appreciation for everyone that makes disneyland a magical and memorable experience. it’s a nice way to make them feel special because they are working hard:) and they may not often get asked for their autographs so I’m sure they must get really happy when people ask.

    My fav Disney optical illusion is the forced perspective on Snow White’s Grotto. Disney anonymously received marbles statues of Snow White and some other characters, but they were all the same size. Hench was given the job to make a display to make Snow White appear taller than the dwarves. He did this by having the waterfall start off small and narrow at her feet, then cascade wider down.

    I love the inverted statues in the Haunted Mansion. So simple to just carve something in foam and carve it inverted. My family does a haunted house walkthrough on Halloween, probably going to try to invert some statues and put them on a book shelf or mantle and put a black light on the white foam and paint the eyes

    The brown "stream" “flowing” down the middle of the streets in frontier times represents a trough used to catch waste from horses back in the day. At least that’s according to a professor of early American history who’s presentation I attended in Philadelphia. He touched on waste disposal in early American history and even mentioned the misconception people have about Disney frontier times

    The first time I went to Disney World (Orlando) I was blown away by the attention to detail that made me feel like I'd fallen into my childhood imagination, where I was the main character in the story. This video made me realize that, "huh, maybe that's not totally wrong!" (Recalls that tears-in-the-eyes moment upon entering the park and hearing the sweeping Disney music).
    When you watch a Disney film, you know you're watching a story unfold--you expect it. Maybe that's why Disney World always takes my breath away. As opposed to a third-person narration (films/storybooks) in which you follow the main character, in Disney World, YOU are the main character. It's reader-insert at its finest!
    (I finally realize why I felt so...for lack of a better word, important when I first walked down Main Street! (*Sings 'Go the Distance' from Hercules' tree perch whilst looking over the world*) It was like an abstract version of Disney (the invisible narrator that we all knew as children) could see me even though I was surrounded by crowds of people. It was a diamond-in-the-rough moment.)

      The audio mixing that I am most impressed with is the audio in the lands themselves. The transitions between lands and rides are all accomplished with careful placement of speakers and control of acoustics so that you can walk from, say, Adventure Land, past Pirates of the Caribbean, through Frontier Land and New Orleans Square, past the Haunted Mansion, into Fantasy land, past Pooh corner, past the teacups, into Tomorrowland and only ever hear thematically appropriate music that fades in and out as you walk. Truly amazing.

    • @badatgaming
      @badatgaming 5 років тому +6

      I was taught about the audio and "transition areas" while training as a CM. That stuff is actually really interesting. The amount of detail paid attention to about audio is something else.

      Walt Disney being an anti Semite is actually a common myth. He had no feelings against the Jewish people, and even made anti-Nazi cartoons during World War 2. People who say Walt Disney “didn’t like Jews” typically are just saying it because they heard someone else say it and didn’t actually do any research on the matter.

    • @CrazyWeeMonkey
      @CrazyWeeMonkey 5 років тому +1

      Interesting... I have heard it so much that honestly I believed it to be real. After some researching it seems like many have believed he was anti-Semitic due to his affiliation with anti-semetics (the MPA was founded by Walt Disney and many anti-semetics). Thanks for pointing this out.

      Kellie McMurray This was my second time applying, I applied at the end of my first semester of college and i didn’t make it in. You have to be 18+ to apply, you have to have completed at least one semester of college, and you have to still be in school at the time you apply; you can also apply up to 6months after college graduation . I talk about it more in my “DCP Tag” on my channel, but you just send in an application with your school and work experience, just like any other job, if they like it then you get a web based interview, (just choose the most disney sounding answers), if you pass that you get a phone interview, you can find the most commonly asked question online, and after that you find out if you’ve been hired. I applied Jan 26, got my web interview Jan 28, Phone interview Feb 11 and was accepted Feb 15.

    7:53 - Liberty Square's design is meant to follow actual Old City Philadelphia streets, but not in the way you're explaining. For a perfect example, search for Elfreth's Alley, but you can search old city images in general because you'll see that Revolution era streets had a rougher, rockier cobblestone center with red brick sidewalks. Much of the older parts of the city still have 200+ year old brick sidewalks, and some of the more out of the way alleys and closed streets are still the original cobblestone. People didn't generally throw their waste into the streets from their windows in Philadelphia at the time of the Revolution, it was one of the most modern cities in the world - capital of the United States until 1800, by which time Philadelphia was in the process of becoming the first major city in the world to provide fresh drinking water to all residents, a feat accomplished by 1801. Even in the mid 1700s there were in-house and outdoor privy's and a system of storm drains, but nearly all human waste was collected manually by companies paid for the service (honeywagons - what a name...). Sorry for the long reply - not expecting you to edit the video or anything, just enjoy your videos and thought you might appreciate the extra info!

      Offhand Disney I like learning about things like the smellitzers and “go away green”, but other things like forced perspectives or certain ride illusions are all I can see once I learn about them. For me I guess learning the magician’s secrets takes a little bit away from the act; the mystery is usually the best part.

    • @memethyst
      @memethyst 5 років тому +13

      i feel like the magic keeps coming as i get older.
      when i was a kid i thought the ballroom was just simple holograms, but when i learned what pepper ghosts were a few years ago i was fascinated, and i still am.
      i did the keys to the kingdom tour at mk last year too and i learned so many cool things that i never would have known.
      when you know the effort that went into every tiny little detail, it just feels more magical how they were able to have parks like this in the 50s and 70s.

    Also, if you think about it, the people who put together the ride audio that you can find on spotify and such, such as Navi River Journey, put in a lot of work, as they much simulate what it sounds like to slowly move through a tunnel of hundreds of speakers all just repeating a certain sound. But whoever puts it together must control which sounds slowly get louder, and then softer.

    I love it when the statues talked. Really enjoyed the elevator, too, when it elongates above your head. The talking knockers, etc. I always thought it was holograms, but when I went as a child they didnt have that technology, so it makes sense now. Gives the phrase "done with smoke and mirrors new meaning. And thought not an illusion, I also enjoyed the animatronics in the building that turned and and depicted history. President Lincoln, when he stands up is amazing. At least to my 12 year old brain it was.
