It's time to show you the other side of this alternative lifestyle - a real work day in town. For those that want to see what an actual full day living out of a car looks like, this is for you. Spoiler alert: it's not as glamorous as all the polished travel photos / videos. However, I believe the scenery and experiences that come with living this way makes it all worth it!
Hope you enjoy this more raw look at full-time life on the road as a solo traveler. :)

I'm a 67 year old retired woman veteran who moved out into her car by CHOICE! I don't miss paying $1700 a month for rent utilities, wifi. Dang dude, you should wear a lanyard around your neck with a key and one for your mask. I am HAPPY. Very content with this new way of life (nearly 4 months now!).
❤️
Any advice for other women that want to do it?
Lived in my car all last year in Los Angeles, exactly two months after I graduated magna cum laude. I worked full-time and showered at gym, eventually saving for a studio. Not a glamorous life at all as many on UA-cam portray it to be. In fact it's incredibly dangerous most of the time, and very isolated. Unfortunately many of the other mobile homeless I met have few options to change the situation as they are disable, elderly or afflicted by something locking them into this awful life. And if you become sick, good luck riding it out in a car. Or you need to take a shit at 3:00 AM. Great video.
I've wondered that too. What if someone had a week bladder. Has to go 2/3 times a night to the bathroom. Thats my biggest set back to starting this life style.
@@rebeccashomespun604 If your talking Number 1 then the Shewee / Bottle setup might be an option. My girlfriend used it when we traveled around the USA living out of our SUV. Some people may not be comfortable with this but saved us a ton of money not getting hotels or KOAs at night.
@@obsidiansands9767 I'm afraid I'd be one the ones that would end up having to replace the material in my car trying to use it. Lol
@@rebeccashomespun604 LOL! Yep, sometimes accidents happen :)
@@rebeccashomespun604 i go at least 7-10 times a night sometimes and avg. about 5 times (number 1). there is always a way you can figure it out. the only problem is the intense cold up northeast or extreme humidity when you are trying to sleep
Here’s a tip. If you return to the same area for several nights be sure to not park exactly in the same spot. Why? Because cops and security personnel will think that the vehicle is abandoned or left. Stolen vehicles are often dumped near businesses. By moving the car’s spot, the night shift, who has no clue you were out and about, will realize that someone is actively connected to the car. :)
Dude, my key is on a green lanyard and every single day I still lose it and have to tear the vehicle apart to find it, i feel your pain! 😂. What alot of people don't mention in car life is just how quickly your car can go from spotless to a hurricane. I can show my car all neat and cool looking like most people do in their videos but in reality 99 percent of the time it doesnt look like that, it's a mess lol
Hahah glad I’m not alone
This is like a hallmark version of living in a car. Who is following you around recording you when I see hands free and all the different angles. Music added, everything looks perfect. Good video!
I appreciate your honesty. The problem is is that many people are being forced in your position due to job losses, but you don't give up easily so inspire us, help us. No one is exempt from life. Thank you, God bless you.
God bless you on your journey. Your dog Sam is a sweetheart. Such a great dog. Glad you have him for company. Stay safe and Best of luck to you and Sam.
Really appreciate that, Eileen 🙏🏻
great vid I am 73 and going to try this lifestyle for 6 months Like you my boy I am going to take my dog with me she's a 10 year old labrador two oldies on the road.
Put a command hook up for your keys..that should help
Cupholder every night
Great job showing us the daily life, not just the Instagram moments. Keep up the good work, give Sam a good scratch behind his ears, and stay safe & healthy.
Started living and traveling in my compact suv, on my 5th week now and i swear, i loose things the moment i set them down ! Putting things back right away is a must 😅
then own less stuff. that simple
My key is on a chain I always wear around d My neck
I love these types of videos! I was originally going to be in a van come December but now I’m leaning towards my car for the first year so these type of videos are helpful!
So glad this was of help to you, Stephanie! don’t hesitate to ask if you need any advice along the way. Wish you all the best with your future ventures :)
You have a calm energy Travis, and Sam is lucky to have you. 💜 from 🇦🇺
So young and so resourceful. You are amazing. Most people your age are at home playing video games and depending on their parents to feed and take care of them. Congratulations, on your independence. You are a survivor and will always have a means of making it in this world. Happy New Year 🎈🎈🙏🙏🥂🥂🌹🌹🍀🍀🎊🎊🍭🍭🎆🎆❤️❤️🍾🍾🕊🕊😇😇👍👍
That means so much, Manny. Really appreciate it 🙏 😊
@@TravTravels Its Jamie Davies I live in the UK will you be my UA-cam friend and I really really like you living in your car video TravTravels my friend.
Thank you so much for sharing and being vulnerable enough to help us us see a more sincere portrait of this nomad life.
I live in car with dog and yes we do side streets, parking lots, dog parks, the beach....I've lost my keys, phone in car then I lost them for good and had to get new keys and phone.
Car has broken down to many times so I'm saving for another. Next month I'll be in decent car.
It's the good the bad and the ugly of car life.
My dog feels the same 🌈
Debra. You're cute.
Lose shit many times...oh that special kinda frustration
@@Noname-dg3pm Ha!
I'm glad to see you and Sam go to the dog park. It's got to be rough for both of you to be in the car all day.
Really good video Trav! It was put together very professionally and edited very nicely! It was very enjoyable to watch ! Thank you 🙏
First time viewer. Your dog is so precious. His eyes are soulful ❤️
I am so glad you put this video out. Very informative and real for first timers
I admire people like you really. Living the life free, going where you want and doing what you want.
I just found your channel. I subed.👌🙂
Thanks for taking us out on your adventures! How great is your beautiful dog. Such a great companion. Keep safe.🤗🇦🇺🌏
I'm just home to my stix and brix after my very first car camping experience with my dog and cat. This trip was to try out my no build setup. Worked pretty good. I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm also glad to see that living this life is not 'glamorous', 'cause honestly, I was a little bored. lol! Good to know I'm 'doing it right'!
Hello Honeynme I look at your channel to. I like your car camping videos.
@@debslifesimplified6406 Thank you!!😁❤️
You’re the real deal my friend....good for you! I just subscribed.....keep’em coming👏👏i want more of this....thank you for sharing
Thanks for reality day...I went van camping last weekend and the evening was a little tricky with how to spend my time, especially because it got dark early..🤪
Great video! This reminds me when I bought an old Benz in Seattle and slept in the backseat during my slow crawl from Victoria BC to San Diego. Thanks for the good memory! Cheers~
Nice job, Trav. Thanks for taking the time to let "us" know what it is like in the day of...
Love your simplicity. You're a good guy. Greetings from Indiana.
Just got new brakes and tires on my 05 Escape. Suv camping is the only way I could have a dog.
Like everything in life, I'm not under any delusions about living in a car. It's different for everyone. I myself want to live in a vehicle, basically because I cannot afford to live anywhere. I'm also sick of it. I know that living in a vehicle has its challenges and downsides. I'm grateful to see people being upfront and honest. I don't want us to have an illusion like it's a glamorous life. It's not.
Hey man I love your channel and I’m excited to watch your journey and see the adventures your take
I love your raw video that I subscribe to your channel!😉 Take care and be safe out there.🙏🙏🙏
It's super hard but also super rewarding. I'm always fixing my car. Always. Thank you for showing the realities!
I live mobile and cook regular food....best thing is wipe them out with paper towels and then use vinegar water to clean.
You clean the food with vinegar?
I did know that we can use portable stove inside the car. I was so scared that its gonna explore lol
How do you wash your vegtables and fruits?
@@suelynncho I wash them with vinegar water. It's not toxic.
Great video. I just subscribed. And I'm watching laying on my sleeping pad in my suv getting ready to sack out for the night. Thank you for the tips
Adding to my other comment I love your video.
Especially when you lost your key!!!
And you have a dog so I bv relate so well.
I've lost so many things in my car while I'm in it.
But the freedom is beautiful. It truly is.
I subscribed first because of your key then your dog and your calm.
Take care be safe
Thanks for that video….so down to earth!
clearly you love your doggie - time out in the park :) valuable video !
Great video. I live as much as possible in parks during the day. Once pandemic lifts maybe full time. I hope you add some fruits and vegetables to your diet.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for making this! When you're just starting out there are all these big ideas and aspirations and I'm the type of person to try to find problems and fix them before they can even arise. I took quite a bit away from this! (Now if only I could get a remote job, lol- mine is very stationary and I'll be keeping it for awhile. Remote jobs seem to be the way to go.) Thank you again! I'm going to check out more.
Have fun and take care and take it easy and enjoy it
subscribed! great dad to Sam. I like how you thoughtfully planned out your day
You’re beautiful in a platonic way man, love your style and honesty
Following with interest. Good luck with your life on the road. Glad you have your doggy. Liked, shared and subscribed! :-)
Moving into my van at end of March. Algo brought up your videos. New sub. I'll watch.
Hows its going for you?
That simple chair is such a necessity ... they do make fantastic chairs today
Good video! Reminds me of when I was homeless, lived in my 1991 S10 pickup truck. In 2014. Got fired from Amazon. Other related things happened and I suddenly had no home. For a few weeks I lived like this but I got busy gathering up money to rent a bedroom. There are a lot of resources out there, no doubt.
I would never have guessed you filmed this video in 4 days. Im seeing this video many months after you loaded it here, and great job in keeping it real. Cute doggie Sammy.
Staying busy is key. I have the same issues with losing or misplacing stuff.
Thank you for sharing your EXPERIENCE. May YOU and SAM always find YOURSELVES in the RIGHT PLACE and the RIGHT TIME throughout your journey. BE YOURSELF, BE DIVINE! It is our BIRTHRIGHT wherever we GO! Our Furry and Feathered Friends are the Best TEACHERS!
Just watching your channel for the first time and I am amazed that this has really become a " thing" it seems so many people are taking to the road. We all want our freedom back and this is a way to get it. I fear that this is going to permanent for millions as the economy suffers from COVID and all the gov abuse of people just trying to work and live in the name of our Health and wellness lol. You are young and able to do this, good for you. Your survival abilities may be in demand before long. Take care and keep making videos. Kevin in Edmonton Canada
Thank you, Kevin!
I'm glad I'm not the only car dweller who posts up at Panera. Shout out to the $9 unlimited coffee program!
Haha yes!! You’re my people! That was such a good deal for us nomads.
Appreciate your honesty. Wishing you and Sam well xox
Loved this! X
I just found your channel and I subed you. Your dog is beautiful! 😄😎
This video is exactly what I've been looking for.Simple survival with the necessities of equipment like the jackery, hotplate, workstation an the love an care of your beautiful pup.I crave this life by choice an I'm starting this year in July. THIS VIDEO is everything.I subscribe to see your life day to day just maintaining your money without slaving an paying unnecessary Bill's from living in the sticks and bricks.I will own a porta potty though.Be safe out there.

Great Content!
I live in a van in England. Currently we aren't allowed to sit inside or outside cafes but we will be able to again from December 2nd. I miss being able to sit there with a coffee and charge my phone/laptop. Your life looks wonderful.
Thank you, Sue. I miss the coffee shops as well. I have a new video coming out this week showing my temporary solution to this. Glad to hear you'll be able to go back in soon. 🙌

Just found your channel. I really want to do this too. I have a Patriot and have wondered how to live out of it. This video was great. Very informative. Do more like this one.
A dog is a must 👍 . I watch a couple of channels were people live in there car's . I always wonder about back and neck health . Being hunched over a lot . Stay safe 👍🇺🇸
Great video. Sam is adorable.
Love your copilot, I use to have an Irish setter too.
I start college 5 weeks for now and in a couple of days I plan on living in my car and just save money and work just until I graduate for me I feel as if I want to take this world and college alone so I can grow even if I have to be in my car.. I hope it turns out good y’all have a goodnight
I love the videos & edits !! Also really digging Sam he’s so chill !
Thanks, Kevin!
🌈🦋🌻ThankYou
This video was very helpful to me because I used to live like this. I liked it for a lot of different reasons. I didn’t have a dog which I do now. I even have a bigger veh. I’m already planning to make my jeep into a living place for awhile. I’ve heard, Oregon is one of the places your aloud to stay in your veh. Take Care BSafe
Cool I have done some travelling in my car as well. Not as extensively as you.
Ah Election night 2020! Good times 🎉
Lonely. That's the word that comes to mind. That's a good thing during COVID, but it sounds like you were probably doing this before the virus, too. I also wonder how you control temp in the vehicle for Sam when you're away from the car. They can heat up fast even on a moderate day.
The video quality is dope
Great job showing the less than glamorous realities of car camping/dwelling. Have you had a knock on the window yet? I did, in a Planet Fitness parking lot. lol. It really startled me, but I just went on down the road and found a Hotel parking lot, and successfully slept the rest of the night. Just a little tip: Get yourself a spray bottle and fill it with 50/50 water and vinegar, and then you can just spray and disinfect your dishes all in one fell swoop. Be safe and keep the videos coming. 😊
Thanks, Jo Ann! I haven’t had a knock but have been told to leave (I could see them coming before the knock lol) it’s never fun but mostly they have been nice about it.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll have to give that a try!
Do you leave the windows down at night for ventilation? I'd like to make some fitted window coverings but I worry about fresh air getting in. I use black out curtains now but they're kind of a pain to put up.
Stay safe👍
I'm an SUV dweller for 1yr now..and I like watching ppl who give the true nomad stuff and not the Disneyland version. I started in the beginning of the plandemic and maaaan!! It was trying!! I never slept at a Walmart I slept at grocery store parking lots, behind dollar tree and my oldie but goodie cracker barrel just to name a few. The main focus is to improvise to get through this daily and it'll work. You have your good/bad days but most if all the "freedom" of it all I wouldn't trade for any apartment/house!🤗
Public Library Perf to work remote in with a Bathroom some have Parks next to it recharge everything
I enjoy your videos.
I'm in the UK are also doing the whole carlife thing!... I gotta say this is really well filmed and colour graded... How long does it take you to edit your videos? Also what stove are you using?
I like Nikki Delventhal's channel, but yeah, she always makes it look like every day's a great adventure in nature, hiking new trails, etc. Lol. I've often wondered what her day to day life is like. But where do you charge your Jackery, and can you hook up a little refrigerator on the Jackery? Is your dog a Golden? They're the best! And you couldn't find your key--when I take off in my "Hotel Camry" this coming May, I plan to wear my spare key on a lanyard around my neck, so I'll always have my key available.
I love the doggo so much *-*
Thanks, me too!😁
Also talk about the locations and what highway s your traveling on..
New subscriber. Be safe.
Sam needs a makeshift ramp😍
How do you wash your vegtables and fruits inside your car? Or wash dishes/pots for that matter?
Clean your dishes with white vinegar. It disinfects too!
