EveryPlate Review: Expectation vs. Reality (not sponsored)

We tried EveryPlate, and this is what we thought of it! 👇👇👇
We tried 16 different recipes over the course of 4 EveryPlate deliveries. Our friend gave us a coupon code for a week of free boxes (we paid delivery), then we paid in full for each box after that.
We’re fairly confident cooks and were looking for something simple, nutritious and tasty we could make together at the end of a long day. This was our first time trying a meal kit delivery service.
THE PROS
😀 The ingredients arrived fresh and well packaged
😀 It’s affordable compared to other meal kit options
😀 We enjoyed pretty much every recipe - even the ones that were chosen for us by EveryPlate the time we forgot to choose our own options!
😀 We’re happy to have the recipe cards so we can make some of the recipes again, especially the pasta ones
😀 It helped us broaden our horizons and try a few new things
THE CONS
😔 Each recipe has only 6 steps, but most steps had multiple steps within them
😔 Even with 2 of us in the kitchen, all recipes took around 50% longer to prep & cook than stated
😔 For meals with multiple components, some parts had gone cold before the others were ready
😔 In the weeks that we ordered 5 meals, some of the vegetables were looking a bit worse for wear by the time we ended up using them. The bag of kale was moldy around ~3 days after delivery (EveryPlate refunded us for that item)
😔 Many recipes used more oil / butter than we usually use - so the meals didn’t feel very healthy
CONCLUSION
Overall, we enjoyed the experience of cooking together and trying new things. All the recipes were tasty but I was disappointed with some of the results compared to the time / effort required to make them.
If you are looking to try something new and don’t mind washing the dishes, EveryPlate could be a great option for you! We will probably explore a few different meal kit options but may return to EveryPlate in the future.
