Just as an creative input: I really like to combine workshops with temples to make them more versatile and different. e. g. I usually make a forge combined with some goddess connected to smithery, fire, vulcanos or sth. like that. It really gets across how important craftdwarfship is to dwarves ^^
Not only are these quick tutorials fantastic, there's a beautiful level of comedy with almost every single one having a "There's some fighting going on" moment.
As a new player, thank god for this video, was trying to figure out this whole temple thing (not super obvious for a new player). Thanks a bunch, this was super helpful!
ive come back to watch a handful of these videos, just wanted to say you've been a blessing i really appreciate that you get right into it and keep it pertinent, none of that "WHADDUP FORUM ITS YA BOY"
I've watched a small number of your tutorial videos, thus far, and it seems like, every single one of them features alerts about "fighting in the basement" and/or "a person was killed," and you just keep working away at your current task, and it gives me a bit of emotional relief to see an expert at the game plays in largely the same way that I have for the past 12 years that I've been playing DF.
dorfs do like to worship a specific deity so I find it beneficial to have a few 3x3 rooms with alters to the major gods after you establish a general temple as shown in the vid. Very nice tutorial have a like!
One problem I found with the no-specific-deity temple was I got a lot of fighting in the temple. This was in a temple with 200 dwarfs+visitors, but I started making temples for all of the gods. Well I was in the process of doing it before my fortress started tanking 😂
I swear I've done this before, but in my current fortress, no one is using the temple except to drop animal corpses to rot - which they refuse to pick up despite them being flagged as trash. Perhaps my dwarves are telling me they don't like the temple...
About a month late, but your issue could be a lack of downtime, or the dwarf being unable to access the temple for whatever reason. As I understand it, dwarves will prioritize most tasks over downtime activities, so if you get unhappy thoughts about things like "couldn't pray" then loosening up their duties for a bit might alleviate that. It's the same with "Spend time with friends/family"
Apparently the altars don't *actually* do anything yet in Fortress mode other than increase room value (which is worth it since temples do tend to be pretty value-demanding)
@@kevingriffith6011 interesting... I thought it would help signal to the dwarves that they needed to deposit items in a shared area and then put it in a chest because it is a "offering place"
@@crazymonk27 Admittedly I'm going by the wiki. I haven't experimented with it myself but my dwarves seem to do just fine without one in their temples.
Thanks! Just started and the Ingame Tutorial was sadly not detailed enough to understand how to actually build a Temple... or to assign a Specific Meeting Area.
I had a problem where a large number of Dwarves appeared to be stuck in an infinite worship loop. Eventually, all work in my fortress ground to a halt. I tried forbidding the temple and removing the zone entirely, but they kept on doing it. What am I doing wrong?
I Cant find any info on how to get a religion recognised, so it has presets and such. I have one temple thats got 20 members and has a bishop and yet i also have a temple with 100 members and a value of 20000 but it still has no religious cast or bishops or anything. How do you get your temples recognised?
Thanks for these quick tutorials, they really help explain some of the more hidden info in the game. Could you make one explaining how the heck one does 'vertical bars' with an irrigation system? I'm trying to understand how to build it correctly yet the DF wiki is no help XD Thanks!
Thanks for the content!!! Would be nice if you can make a quick tutorial about the different factions/faction sites in the world map. like Dark dwarf, human, Monastry etc
The dwarves get confused over which one to worship? Is a generic temple best? I have 24 3×3 temples, basically one for everg god / religion, does this confuse the dwarves?
just wondering... does having temples help, for example, some of your dwarfs were getting hurt or getting dead in the basement XD can praying help dwarfs get over a loved ones passing or get over the loss of their left pinkie?
Temples tend to be very room-value demanding, so putting a bunch of high-value statues can push you toward that. Also, do remember that dwarves get happy thoughts when exposed to nice art like high-value statues, and dwarves tend to congregate in meeting spaces like temples.
One of my dwarves went berserk and burned every fucking temple i built through time. The dude was so loved within my colony that I couldnt lock him up without causing disgust on the character sheets.
Dude, love your Quick Tutorial Series.... love all of them may be you could make a new series... the NOT so Quick Tutorials.... going somewhat more in deepth... some ideas are already there in the tutorial
Thanks for the round up. One important thing is missing though. How to appoint a priest? I was given a petition, set up a >2000 value temple and failed because I had no priest. I can find no answer anywhere to this.
So to get a priest, what you need to do is make the shrine for the requested god, upgrade it with various things(smooth, upgrade, furniture) to make it go over the 2000 value stated and this will unlock the priest slot next to the performer slot in the looking glass menu of the temple area.
Having trouble designating a priest for a temple requested by my dwarves. Have the room carved out, sitting at 3000+ value. Still no option to add the priest like in Classic. Am I missing the button somewhere, or what?
Still many questions are open. Does it benifit to have those chest or a statue of the diety etc. Or is it just cosmetic? Is an altar necessary? If there are some benefits from adding to the temple room what would it be? What happens if i have a big comunity that wants to pray to a specific diety. They dont seem to be statisfied with a generic temple.

I love the bit about the fighting in the basement. The live fort around these tutorials do a lot for the entertainment value here.
Thank you!! I'm very new to Dwarf Fortess and it's really nice to see visual tutorials for the graphics version already!!
you are a godsend, getting back into this game is so hard, every tutorial being 30 minutes to an hour or longer doesnt make it easier lol

Always helpful. I'm just returning to DF and your short tutorials are extremely useful. Thanks again! See you on Twitch.
Glad they still help! I've remade a few of them now but vast majority of them are still good.

Dwarves dying left right and center.

Do you need to manually build floor tiles or just smoothing is enough?
just wondering...

can praying help dwarfs get over a loved ones passing or get over the loss of their left pinkie?
keep these coming. SUBSCRIBED ! :)
I'm trying!
Nice quick tutorial Thank you. Can you do one about leveling up shrine to temple?
Its just add more value to the room toss in 20 statues and wham bam donezo
@@BlindiRL wow thx 🙂it work,
What about adding a priest? Is that just a Performer for the temple?
Thanks for the video!
How do you smooth walls instead of putting down flooring?
Never mind, found it in another of your videos
Is there any benefit to adding other things (like statues, etc) to a temple?
Temples tend to be very room-value demanding, so putting a bunch of high-value statues can push you toward that. Also, do remember that dwarves get happy thoughts when exposed to nice art like high-value statues, and dwarves tend to congregate in meeting spaces like temples.
these are so great ty
but how do you increase the value of your temples?
I can answer this
Engraving, statues etc
whats offering place? i cant found it to make
Altar
One of my dwarves went berserk and burned every fucking temple i built through time. The dude was so loved within my colony that I couldnt lock him up without causing disgust on the character sheets.
I just made a ~20 3x3 temples since they have like 20 gods XD
So, how do you raise the value of the meeting area?
Very concise and useful. *support comment*
was stuck in the "click on + button that says "add new areas" thought it would do something completly different :3

How do I assign a priest? All I see in the zone tab is Performers.
Needs more value to be an actual temple, before that it's just a shrine :)
@@h4mpooz yeah with like smoothed walls and shit. Seems like room size is very important for evaluation
@stavvy not only, you can use statues and other fine goods too!
Is smoothing the walls cosmetic or does it increase the beauty of tiles to the NPCs?
they generally admire a smoothed area, it effects their morale
@@eneserdem6750 Thanks for the reply! Good to know
@@quest9327 no problem, also as you know engraving the tiles too improve their morale

@@juliusEST thank you for your answer. I was at 4700 value and still could only appoint perfromers. I failed the quest and it never showed up again.
Was the temple for a god, or for an organised religion? I think only the latter can have priests
yay!
Meditating on death like the basement lol
I have a temple now 🙏
cool
I could feel your pain of wanting to check in on the fighting that was going on
Trust me
Watch the video at 0.75x playback speed
Why do you smooth everything?
makes the dwarves happier
I always get dwarves complaining they can't pray, even if I build them a temple specific to their deity. No idea what I'm doing wrong 😭
Very usefull, thanks.
Having trouble designating a priest for a temple requested by my dwarves. Have the room carved out, sitting at 3000+ value. Still no option to add the priest like in Classic. Am I missing the button somewhere, or what?
I figured it out. I did a dingus move and had designated a temple to the god worshiped by the cult, not the cult itself
Cant create temples on latest steam version, no rating is given to temples except ?*. What a buggy mess
Blind may i request a tutorial about water sources besides the well? I asked you about on a stream but i couldn't follow along :(

Temple? Looks more like the new dog bed to me.

Can you do a tutorial about all the fighting going on in the basement? 🤣🤣
My temple says that my religion is not recognized even though it is more than 40.000 in riches. How do I fix this? I'd like to appoint priests.
The religion isn’t recognized not the temple maaaaaan
