Thanks Murray, really enjoyed this one, especially your squeezing the last drop of Autumnal light out of the day. Meall Buidhe is underrated as a 'lesser' Munro but as with many similarly overlooked peaks it offers great vistas out to better known hills and of course the vastness of Rannoch.
Nice one Murray. That spot midway looked amazing for a camp and packraft if the winds playing the game. Top tip.. you can buy an elastic bungee cord that you put around your rooftop fabric. As you close the roof it pulls in the side walls preventing if from getting caught in the roof struts/mechanism/hinges..thingy, you know what I mean! Very expensive having it repaired if it catches on your roof struts when the wind blows etc.. We learned this on Hamish no.1. Money saving tips R us lol ! 😆

Thanks Murray, this one really lifted my spirits! I finally left Southampton and I'm now living near Turriff in Aberdeenshire. I moved in a week and a half ago and for most of a week I was treated to absolutely gorgeous sunrise and sunset skies, similar to what you had on this trip. It was breathtaking, and felt like a warm welcome fo Scotland. I don't suppose you could recommend a couple of easy hills in my area that I could try once I'm settled in, probably next Spring? I'd appreciate some tips from an experienced outdoor guy :) All the best - Mike.

However, in May next year we’re coming to stay in Crianlarich (near Tyndrum and the Green Well car and truck stop). What Munros and Corbetts would you recommend in that area please Murray? @@ScotlandsMountains Thank you Murray for kindly taking the time to reply to my message. BTW, tomorrow’s walk starts off from beside Llyn Ogwen in the Ogwen Valley (not Snowdon). Snowdon is very busy these days and is best avoided. Finally, I just wanted to say how much I’ve appreciated your UA-cam channel, “Scotland’s Mountains” through the lockdown(s). I’m so glad I discovered your channel prior to the pandemic and I’m looking forward to what you’re promising in the run up to Christmas. Best wishes & kindest regards, Chris 🤗
@@cjharris4 Thanks Chris - starting from next week , I have my favourite adventures of this year lined up culminating in a couple of very long vlogs around Christmas from a rather special hike earlier in the year - hope you enjoy them when I get them out :)
Oooh enjoyed watching this in all of its remoteness. That view over Rannoch was fab. I think that one thing that makes me smile is your humour, that you laugh at yourself, that's an energiser in itself! Am still trying to work out your accent, but you're easy to understand. So well done, hope you had a good night in the land of nod! See you on the next escapade, cheers Murray!
Fantastic video Murray - congrats on hitting 50k subscribers! Well deserved - I think you were at 15k when I started watching! Looking forward to the next adventure

Thanks Murray; inspirational, as always! I too recall reading about the circuit, when I bought Cameron’s book in 2006. It’s stayed on a vague wish list till now, but you’ve made it a ‘must do’. The spot at the head of the loch looks very special. I might pick a day with more daylight though! Great stuff! 👍🥾
Thanks Martin , I would recommend the long days of summer for sure (unless a two dayer with a wild camp thrown in - although the steep descent at the end of the loch might not be the best with a big camping back pack on !!lol Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray

Very well done again. Don't know how you can manage all these hills in one day! I did Vorlich at Loch Lomond on Sunday and my legs are still feeling it! ATB
Hi Murray, great adventure and brilliant route to do the munros. I did these two a few years ago and recently came back with a friend fly fishing for wild brownies.
Thanks for the great video Murray. I've always loved the views to Rannoch from Meall Buidhe and also over Glen Lyon from Stuchd an Lochan. I was wondering how you deal with the stalking issues here? The keeper is a great chap but I know he has had some issues in the past.
Thanks Robbie - some wonderful views up there for sure. During Stalking season I like to phone the states the day before to check . Some useful information at this link for those needing more info : www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/practical-guide-all/heading-scottish-hills . Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Nice video Murray. I mind years ago looking at that route in his book thinking that's a big day. Mind you, what day isn't in that book 😁 I'll need to return to Meall Buidhe, another one to take the misses up.
Another great video, thanks for sharing your adventures with us. I was going to suggest you add a map so that those who like me are not familiar with the location can orient ourselves but you beat me to it. I liked the personal touch where you mentioned how you got inspired by McNeish’s book “The Munro”.
Thanks Mark - I spent countless hours in Cameron’s Munro book when I started hiking - so good and fed my ambitions :) Take care and thanks for watching Murray
Another great video, thanks for the enjoyment and inspiration you provide. A couple of things I'd be really interested to have your thoughts on: 1. Do you use winter tyres on your vehicle? I'm toying with getting a set for driving to Scotland this winter. 2. I'm thinking of getting a pair of OAC WAP 127 skishoes from Finland to do some ski trekking in Scotland this winter. Black Diamond sell a variant of these called Glide Lite trekking skis, but they don't export to UK or Europe. I'd be greatful for any advice. Thanks again for all the great videos you've produced, please keep up the good work.
Afraid I don’t know anything about skiing but in terms of winter tyres - I have them on my van and also my wife’s car - make a huge amount of difference in the cold IMHO. Wouldnt be without them now in winter. Got the vans tyres changed a few weeks ago and all ready to go . If you search winter tyres vs 4*4 on UA-cam there are some really nice videos explaining the benefits 👍👍 Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Great video as usual Murray.Did that round a few years ago but the opposite way and in the summer. The drop down off the Corbett was steep so fair play to you for the pull up it.Would have been severe.
It certainly felt severe - I was just glad I had had a bite to eat before tackling it :) A fine round of mountains though :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Ah Murray we're gonna have to have a discussion about your nutrition 😂😂 fancy forgetting the jelly babies... seriously though great vid and lovely circuit to do. Interesting to find out if those trees were part of a larger forest at one time. Lovely spot.

Perfect timing Murray! Just visited Lawers & Rannoch area. I hiked Loch An Daimh too, but didn't summit Stuc an Lochan. Please do you know if Lochan nan Cat has crystal clear/greenish water or if it is the usual dark, peaty colour? (Does anyone else know)? Fantastic editing and camera placements; your low filming perspectives create real moodiness & sense of scale to the mountains. Brilliant👌
Hi - thanks for the comment - TBH it has been 20 years since I was last up Stuc an Lochan so cant remember what the lochan looks like . Maybe someone will be able to comment and let you know - sure there maybe lots of images if you search google images perhaps ? Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Virtually no chance of meeting anyone on these remote hills at this time of year. You have to be extra careful Murray. While I enjoy a jelly baby I'm more of a "randoms" man myself when it comes to a boost.

Nice one Murray, thanks. If you haven't done so already you'd better add 'Jelly Beans' (large size) to your Christmas list now. ATB
good point - writing letter to Santa right now :)
Excellent video, really enjoyed that one.
Thanks Graeme - was a long but enjoyable day on the hill :)

Where do you get your energy?! I'm knackered just watching all those assents and descents 😂 great video as always ❤️
I sometimes ask myself the same question after days like this!!lol
Oooh enjoyed watching this in all of its remoteness. That view over Rannoch was fab. I think that one thing that makes me smile is your humour, that you laugh at yourself, that's an energiser in itself! Am still trying to work out your accent, but you're easy to understand. So well done, hope you had a good night in the land of nod! See you on the next escapade, cheers Murray!
Thanks Janet, I certainly slept well that evening after those two days on the hill :)

Fantastic video Murray - congrats on hitting 50k subscribers! Well deserved - I think you were at 15k when I started watching! Looking forward to the next adventure
Thanks Folks- can’t believe so many people have subscribed - humbling TBH - hope the upcoming vlogs give a wee taste of adventure for every one of the 50k ( kept my favourite adventures of the year for the next 5 or 6 week :)
Hope you enjoy them

Thanks Murray; inspirational, as always! I too recall reading about the circuit, when I bought Cameron’s book in 2006. It’s stayed on a vague wish list till now, but you’ve made it a ‘must do’. The spot at the head of the loch looks very special. I might pick a day with more daylight though! Great stuff! 👍🥾
Thanks Martin , I would recommend the long days of summer for sure (unless a two dayer with a wild camp thrown in - although the steep descent at the end of the loch might not be the best with a big camping back pack on !!lol

Not sure what trickery you use but your footage is always amazing! Keep it up bud!
Thank you sir - very much appreciated :) The best vlogs are still to come - tune in around Xmas and you may recognise some rather windy conditions on a specific ridge on a famous Island in Scotland ;) lol

Very well done again. Don't know how you can manage all these hills in one day! I did Vorlich at Loch Lomond on Sunday and my legs are still feeling it! ATB
My legs were sore for about a week after these two mountain trips !!lol

@@ScotlandsMountains yeah after speaking to others this is perfectly normal. I look forward to seeing the next one, take care.
Hi Murray, great adventure and brilliant route to do the munros. I did these two a few years ago and recently came back with a friend fly fishing for wild brownies.
A cracking place :) hope you caught some supper when you had your return visit :)

Thanks Mark - I spent countless hours in Cameron’s Munro book when I started hiking - so good and fed my ambitions :)

Another great video, thanks for the enjoyment and inspiration you provide. A couple of things I'd be really interested to have your thoughts on:
If you search winter tyres vs 4*4 on UA-cam there are some really nice videos explaining the benefits 👍👍

Great video as usual Murray.Did that round a few years ago but the opposite way and in the summer. The drop down off the Corbett was steep so fair play to you for the pull up it.Would have been severe.
It certainly felt severe - I was just glad I had had a bite to eat before tackling it :) A fine round of mountains though :)

Ah Murray we're gonna have to have a discussion about your nutrition 😂😂 fancy forgetting the jelly babies... seriously though great vid and lovely circuit to do. Interesting to find out if those trees were part of a larger forest at one time. Lovely spot.
Nothing beats a pack of Pringles after some white chocolate 😂😂

That’s what they call in the States “Breakfast of Champions!” 😁
😍
That was a great hike! At least it didn’t rain
Such a tiny wooded area but a great place to stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the view
How were you legs the next day? That was pretty steep!
Take care and stay warm 🇨🇦 ❤️
Thanks Sue , it was a great hike and nice and remote feeling too :). My legs took about a week to recover ;)lol

Hey Murray - brilliant film quality as usual thanks very much. Small gear need question - what is that head torch you are using?
Hi Nick - its an old Petzl one - I also have a few that I got from Amazon which are recharable and tend to take one of those with the petzl one in the bag too :)

Virtually no chance of meeting anyone on these remote hills at this time of year.
You have to be extra careful Murray.
While I enjoy a jelly baby I'm more of a "randoms" man myself when it comes to a boost.
Absolutely Alistair, was really quiet, was away early enough that I didnt see anyone on the first Munro and back late enough that everyone had been away home from the second one by the time I got round there :)lol

@Cameron McNeish has a UA-cam channel which is well worth subscribing to.
Hi murray, whats the model name of that Rab jacket your wearing, and what do you think about it ? i think i could do with one like that.
Hi Pat - its an old one but the model is a Rab Vapour Rise , Guide Jacket, QVR 32. Not sure if it'll still be available (its probably nearing ten years old) but they will probably have an equivalent :)
good luck -

@@ScotlandsMountains they are the best dog chews you can get.100% natural ..they charge around £8 for a 6 inch bit in some pet shops...i use them to make walking stick handles
