For 3$ a month, you get an extra weekly "What's UP" update video. Just for my Patrons. The Support I resave on patreon is all used on stuff to make interesting videos on UA-cam.
My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time. - Наука та технологія
The company I work for purchased me one of these (again was curious). Have found it very useful :)
Great to hear! I only learned about this on Facebook :-)
A set of rack rails is expensive, but will stop the sagging, make sure you get the right rack/rail type if thinking of buying a set
These tools will not stop the sagging of a switch in the rack,, only help while installing it. you still need rails. Cheapest rack shelf rails I found in a quick search was still $36..
I'd happily have bought the screw things, but they pretty much already solve the problem the rail aims to solve. If you have to support the switch to make it straight anyway, just hooking it on the screws and putting on a nut seems plenty.
It does solve most installs, if you are just able to hang the SW on the screws,, the holder thingy "setup.exe really does make it a piece of cake to put up an otherwise difficult SW.
both appear very useful for business's heck id used both, although for my homelab im a little OCD so all my rack screws have to be the same lol (although i bought custom hex bit M6 bolts and washers so no stripped out cheap cross head screws.
would like that support bracket when im installing a heavy server, but price is not in a budget for my homelab, ill probably make something with angle iron, a welder, and some hinges
I am with you on that,, for the home lab,, this is too much.
10:20 THIS SWITCH IS PURE GOLD! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR???
It's also loud as a car. Otherwise it is indeed solid.
@@lpseem3770 loudness is not the thing if you leave it into the garage or in the next room
:-) would love to sell it,, them :-)
I have this setup.exe for 3 years now but i didn't use it much. All the time you have to adjust the bracket on each side. If you are on project with different customers its not the right tool to use it, because each rack is different.
Thanks for sharing,, are the rack´s really that different...
@@MyPlayHouse Yes, If you have old rack cabinets that is different with the racks from today. It is the thickness of the metal and the holes where you put the cage nuts.
Thank you.
Hi @mamdouh-Tawadros
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Setup is like 150€ now on amazon. If it was 100-120€ and i were a pro IT guy i'd make a taught
It´s not cheap, but it is a good tool for this niche job of mounting large switches.
Metal rack studs
Kind of, but also not really.. :-/
Aren't the marks on you rack intended to show the middle of each U? if so your rack is one hole out of alignment, if the marks are between the holes they show the gap between the U, if they are next to a hole, it donates the center of a U????
keep up the content, (if i am right sorry if you have to move everything ;))
I was having troble with the distances sideways. yes there are little markers on the rack for vertical placement :-)
How quiet is your rack now days
Not much is turned on :-)
$211 for that support? Buy an inexpensive 3D printer and print a series of blocks with dimensions of 1.75x3.5x5.25 inches (1U, 2U, and 3U respectively). 3 or 4 and you're all set. Plus you have a 3D printer to make other useful or fun items. Or you can sell it. lol
It is a pricy tool,, it is not for mounting a few switches.. If you do a lot, them, the prices is easier to swallow.
Also 3d printed plastic is something fragile that can't handle this much of a weight
@@leo_craft1 with enough infill it should be fine
spoken like a true manager 😂 that sounds like a liability and outside the perview of system administration, plus filiment expires and you have to maintain the printer
@@leo_craft1 You're kidding, right? Do you print everything in vase mode? PLA, printed with enough infill is more than strong enough to hold the weight of even the heaviest *switch*. Obviously, don't try to support your 4U Storinator with 48 spinning disks in it. lol
Also, you could make the blocks out of wood if you're that worried about it.
Maintaining a printer? Yeah, probably not all home labbers have a 3D printer. But I bet a lot of them already do. 😁
This switch isn't heavy one, for me heavy means switch weight>=10 kg. So heavy for me is for example chassis type switch which weights like 50kg.
:-) 50Kg,, is also the max load for the Setup.exe...
👍
Hi @skynetcybersystem3tech
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
I totally understand the problem that this company is trying to over come. , it dose all seem very clunky . But I do like the idea, Being someone who spent over six years working in DC , especially with 3-4-8 U storage servers can easliy bend there rails. I can see where this would work. In the end I endeded Having a Block of wood , I carried around and it helped hold devieces whilst i racked them.
I do beleave the "setup.exe" is more for 1U server/switches,, that only hang in the front... it is meant to hold up to 50kg.
Yesterday I bought an Bladecenter h. Now I've got some problems with the management module. Is it possible to contact you for some advice?
There is a reset hole on the management model, that will reset it back to default IP. name and psw.
/dev/mount seems cursed, like an amalgamation of /dev and /mnt... device pseudo-filesystem meets mount point? 🤔
It’s close enough to be nerdy 🥸
The setup.exe seems like a great product, but is very overpriced for what it is. I nearly bought one a wile ago, but couldn't get over the price. Also you have to remove any cage nuts in the U that you want to mount the setup.exe
Totally agree,, this is so simple... but I think it is expensive as there really is not that big of a market for it.
