    Who else loves this lens?

    How do you judge "build quality"?
    Did you disassemble the lens, scratch the paint or the glas? Anything regarding just or moisture? And all of this for how long?
    Or do you just judge the "feel" of the lens?

    I have this and the Fuji 10-24, the 13mm may be better for video and vlogging (don't do either). But for landscape, the 10-24 is way more versatile and handles high contrast better and has better color rendering. The 13 struggles with flare if its pointed anywhere near the sun. I'm anxious to try Astro with it and low light is very good. So unfortunately, its not one or the other to me.

      I'm looking at the 7.5mm fisheye by TT Artisan and have the Fuji 10-24 which i've just started using with my XT-4 - stumbled upon the Viltrox during my research and watched pal2tech Chris (youtube) review it and he mentioned the flare issue.It's easy to get side tracked and lose focus but i'm tempted by seeing the results on Jays and other channels.Any advice would be helpful and gratefully appreciated.

      @@twiglet2214 I love the 13mm focal length but find wide angle primes to be pretty limiting. With the 10-24, I can get a huge landscape at 10 then something closer up at 24. But I am typically using a wide angle when hiking and lens changing is harder to do. If comparing strictly at 13mm, the Viltrox is sharper no question. But its color is a little flat or at least not as nice as native Fuji color rendition. And glare is an issue as I said before. I still haven't used it for Astro. But people like different looks, there seems to be lots of love for the Viltrox, just not from me.

      Ok that's very helpful thanks Steven .Perhaps i'll give the 10-24 some love instead then and my wallet will love me too.I was originally looking at the TT Artisans 7.5mm f2 and the Vitrox got mentioned in a review and i spiralled out of control consumed by intense symptoms of GAS ! Sometimes it's like the inescapable pull of a black hole from which not even light can escape ( that's why it's inescapable ) so you've pulled me back from event horizon - thanks.

    Do you think this is wide enough for urban landscapes. I am in NYC so more tall buildings than London. Also do you think a wide zoom would be better for that purpose than a prime like the Viltrox. Otherwise this sounds great and I have been considering it but wondering if it would be best for my purposes (urban landscape and film clips, no vlogging).

      Well, remember they call it an ultra wide but it is equivalent to a 20mm on a full frame sensor. Personally, I think you'll be fine with this lens, however, Fuji have just dropped a new 8mm which is good reviews too but slightly more expensive. Wide zoom lenses are great too but it's trial and error sometimes to fit your work. Hope that helps.

    ahhh man. Everytime I shoot at 13mm, I have that feeling that I wish I could go wider at 11 or even 10mm !

    Struggling to choose between this lens and the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 as my first lens for the XS-20. I will buy both eventually, but which one should I buy first?

    Hello friend! I have an XS20 and a Viltrox 33mm, in some tests I noticed that my videos in "S" mode, shutter priority, the change in exposure from dark to light environments keeps pulsing in a strange way, not being smooth as it should be. Could you please tell me if this also happens with this Viltrox 13mm or if it is a problem with the XS20.

    This is one of the best Fujifilm lens there is ! Just a quick question on the Fringer + the sigma 18-35, does it make a 18-35mm full frame or apsc ? Thanks Jay for your content !!

    • @Jay_Ducker
      @Jay_Ducker  Рік тому +1

      Thanks pal - appreciate you! I don't think it does make it full frame. I think the idea is to adapt it to make it fit the aps-c system but if anyone out there knows better - let us know.

      Used to have a Sigma 18-35mm. That is only APS-C no matter which adapter you out on it because the image circle only goes that far. Used it on my D7000 before adapting it for my X-T2 but I also tried mounting it on the film Nikon that I also have.
      Traded it (along with my Nikon DX kit) away for a Fuji 23mm f/1.4 though.

    • @alexanderlucabaron
      @alexanderlucabaron Місяць тому

      @@Moonstone-Redux Any particular reason for trading it in? And would you choose the Fuji 23mm f/1.4 over the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 and the Sigma 18-35mm? (For filming yourself).

    • @Moonstone-Redux
      @Moonstone-Redux Місяць тому

      @@alexanderlucabaron Funny you'd ask now actually. I regretted trading the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8. When I traded it in I thought it was too heavy and too slow for the X-T2 with the Fringer adapter, only to find out during a later trip in Finland that having some zoom range in a bright lens is very useful during a polar winter. So later on this May when I was travelling to Japan to hunt for my huge Fujifilm upgrade (from X-T2 to X-T5; lucked out and bought what has got to be the last one in Akihabara) I bought back the Sigma 18-35mm again. Focusing speed is faster on the X-T5. Still not great, but at least it is usable.
      I don't really film, so I can't really comment much. If going light, I prefer the 23mm f/1.4 (first edition). Not good for focus tracking, even worse on video because of the noisy micromotor. Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 is less preferred for stationary filming because your face would be distorted, but great for walking head videos, though you probably should be using something lighter like a GoPro or DJI Action or DJI Pocket. Sigma 18-35mm would be my choice for stationary video, but do be careful of the size.
