I dont think anyone need worry about Momotaro. He is more than happy to take what he wants when he wants and he does. As far as Genki goes, she is by far the oldest of this group and may well have different nutritional needs, so the keepers give her different 'treats'. In any event, Momotaro is always first to go back indoors and outdoors to get food and Genki is often last so I'm sure all three males are doing just fine.

Poor genki? LOL. She gets tons of treats every day that the rest of them don't get. They cater to her like a spoiled child. More like poor momo and gentaro. They are the ones that get left out.

Gentaros innocence is gone and he now looks at humans differently, i knew that it would eventually happen, it's inevitable. At least I can watch the old videos of a chubby Gentaro dancing and clapping happily with zookeeper Hina.
I agree, kintaro seems worse than gentaro was. Unfortunately gentaro has changed, but it's the zoo's fault for leaving him here with his family for this long. He needs time by himself to mature so that if he does get a mate, he isn't beating on her trying to show his dominance.

Genki is afraid of Momo and Gentaro. Will she one day be afraid of Kintaro too?? At least for now, though Kintaro will occasionally annoys her but he is of some comfort to her.

Thats the big issue with the zoo’s bc they unnaturally force them to stay together when they otherwise would not. The sons in particular usually end up adversaries of their parents. Momo and gentaro will always fight unless separated and thats the way it will be. They pick on her bc shes old and weak. In their primitive world survival revolves around strength and dominance. The males in particular feel a constant need to prove their superiority. Dont forget, these gorillas dont understand that they arent in the wild. They think this is the wild so they are acting as they would out there, except they are stuck here.
Seriously, Anni is the best solution for Gentaro. Same age, similar living situation and almost identical upbringing (both taken away from the mothers and bottle fed by humans). Why the heck is this zoo against that idea even though it was suggested by experts who analysed the blood line and found that the two of them are not related at all, unlike the other gorillas in Japan? We need an international petition.
Unfortunately the two zoo's don't have any kind of working relationship with each other. Right now they only seem to have a deal with chiba, which is the owner of gentaro, and Taipei, which they have an exchange program with for certain animals. This isn't like the us and other countries where all the zoo's work together.

Annie would be complicated the problem even more. Momotaro and Shabani/Haoko have relatives in common from opposite sides of the family. For example, Tambaby 1/2 sister to Biju And Kibabu. She’s the aunt to all 3 fathers. They need to branch out of Japan for this next generation.
This is why you don't show favoritism and sneak treats to one and not all. She is lucky he didn't bite her. When he does, everybody will wonder why he did. And her greedy butt went right back to beg for more. I feel so bad for momo and the way he is treated like an outsider. The only way he gets any is if he takes it from her or kintaro. For some reason the staff continuously goes out of their way to give them whatever they want.
I’m sure you know genki has special needs and gets those for her nutrition. They can’t give them to the others or they will gain too much weight. But I agree they all should get fed
@murtl5595 that is completely false. Those animal pellets don't aid in digestion in any way, in fact they can cause constipation. When she was having trouble with digestion, the zoo was giving her soft fruits like apples and bananas to help. Those pellets are treats.

Momo isnt really fit to live around other gorillas. Its clear he hasnt learned how to properly live with other animals. He is always stealing everyones food. Theyre all terrified of him. Once again kintaro is left with nothing. No wonder he is small for his age.

I don’t think Kinny is worse. Gentaro would hit Genki with items & push her down. Kintaro is just really playful to me.

The pellets genki gets is to help her digest food,without them she could get very sick or worse.
