I feel like Protomechs are a niche that the game should not have filled. Did we really need a gap-filler between battlesuits and light mechs? It leaves us in a spot where these little pseudomechs dilute the "big stompy robots" game if they are too effective. Maybe my mind will change over time but I feel like it dips a little into the WH40K mentality of having yet another niche of a niche model (where 90% of them are chaff anyway)
I skipped out on these when I played in the early 90s. I do have some minis that can represent the Protomech now, but I am still not sure if I want to play with them....
