      Does the solution react with Aluminium alloys?
      Might be better to remove the exhaust for cleaning.

    Great outcome!
    But a chemical that is so agressive that it can scrub off wear from something that sturdy as chrome exhaust pipe .. Well .. I wouldnt be so sure to spray it around other (and less durable) parts.

      hydrochloric acid is not good for stainless steel either

  • @pino17
    @pino17 7 років тому +97

    I did some research and found out that hydrochloric acid is the active ingredient. So, I bought a cleaning product that used the same active ingredient and worked as a charm on my stainless steel exhaust.
    Be sure not to let the product for too long and mask off any other parts of the bike

      Are you aware hydrochloric acid will strip any chrome in a short time and then cause staining, pitting on stainless steel or aluminium if used regularly? I would avoid it

      Hey, I own a kawasaki z and 2weeks ago I had my bike professionaly cleaned. They did something pretty similar to the exhaust headers and just as yours, they lost their original bronze color... And I'm worried. Was it some kind of protective layer, and all we did was take it off?? Yes it's metallic and shiny looking right now, but will it get much worse later on ?? Please answer me to end my agony :(

    • @emintuzlu
      @emintuzlu 6 років тому

      DeRo brownish colour must be the natural passivation colour (which is a thin layer of oxide on the stainless steel). It will first turn to brownish colour soon, then become worse, then you will have it cleaned again and the cycle will be completed. So I would not worry about it:)

    I am Brazilian and used once a chemical product that is made for cleanning weld parts... It works perfect! It's probably the same showed here. The difference is the mine was in gel. Tip: stainless-steel parts only so....remove exhaust! 😉😎

    Same result with acid alloy wheel cleaner, dont get it on unpainted plastic, it turns it white, Rinse with a pressure washer. Use a metal polish after to help protect the pipes from crudding up again, Oh and wear gloves, and try not to breathe, it's nasty stuff.

    • @raresbirzu2436
      @raresbirzu2436 Рік тому

      The spray has a strong acid which attacks anything. Best way to do it is taking the whole exhaust out and doing it separately. Also coat it afterwards with some rust protectant as it’s more prone to corrosion after being cleaned with the hydrochloric acid

    I don't think it's actually that corrosive... It is kept in a plastic bottle. If it was corrosive or highly acidic, it would eat away at the spray bottle. It probably just uses active ingredients to react and convert the corrosion on the pipe. Just my thought.

    • @dimosk7389
      @dimosk7389 8 років тому +3

      maybe, but dont forget that some acids are also kept in plastic bottles. and yet they are higly corrosive to metal. or they are higly corrosive to other types of plastic.
