Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your metal detector test videos. You have the best test bed I have seen. People don't realize how good some of the Tesoro detectors are. Thanks .
For the tejon use the 8inch round wide scan DD coil and get 3-4 inches of depth on coins and other targets and this coil is excellent on All of the compatible detectors call tesoro in Arizona and check on your particular detector this coil is amazing and go back to areas you hunted out and it is like starting over again if you detect a lot this is the coil to use and leave on the detector dimes at 12 inches are found quarters are easy the stock coil won't compare
Scanner Guy, thanks for your reviews. I have a technical question. The headphones I use on my DeLeon do not work on my Tejon. They are Garrett MS-2. I get nothing, no audio when plugged into the Tejon. Any ideas why? Thx, David
Watched plenty of your excellent MD videos, and think they are excellent! The Tejon has been around since 2003 I believe, yet it still out performs quite a few far more recent/later up-market MD's available to today's searchers. It's one helluva package I think. I own but two MD's, one of which is the U.K Tejon, which in my opinion doesn't need any iron grunt tone, because the machine discriminates so well without it. JMHO
Depending on how energetic you're feeling there is strong argument for digging every signal!!! A few months before I started watching the tv series 'Meteor Men' I found a shiny black rock with a strange rippled surface decided it was junk!!! Yes I threw it back in the hole.
Your videos are my go-to source for metal detector reviews. I miss my Tejon now, I'm gonna have to find me another one soon. It would be sweet if you could get your hands on a DeLeon or Cortes and give them a run. Not much hard info or reviews out there on those machines.
Great job Scanner, I really enjoy the testing videos. I have 6 detectors and my Vaquero is the deepest I own. Of course I'm always looking for latest and the greatest. I got my eye on the new fors relic, the makro racer 2, and the Whites tdi sl pulse machine. I would love to see you test the tdi sl, just to see how it measures up to the vlf units. It should smoke em in the depth department. Good luck HH.
+Artie813 I just put a video on comparing the Vaq to the Tejon. Probably keeping the Vaq. Someday I'll run across the TDI and put it through the test bed.
I've got a laser trident 2 its the UK version of the vaquero was thinking of changing it for the tejon but that chatting would drive me mental, Nice review by the way
I have been wanting to get into metal detecting. I inherited this detector from my uncle, but just seems so hard to learn on. I have been wanting to get something like the ace 400 with a screen. what are your thoughts on that?
Hope you get a chance to test a "whites" metal detector. I am thinking about buying a "treasure Pro" or "MX Sport". Great reviews, but it would be nice if you could do one on them.
I'll probably pick up a treasure pro here after I sell off a few of the others in a couple weeks. Should be soon. What I want to do is get a v3x or v3i in a month or so. I owned a v3i and really do miss the 3 frequencies of it. Not sure how the other whites would stack up against the v3i tho.
The Vaq did better on that candle holder. I am surprised to see that the Tejon is not much more deep. Maybe you will do some tests with the bigger coils.
It runs a bit higher in frequency then the Vaquero..that may mean it is not deeprr perse. But it hit hard on nickels pulltabs and the occasional golden ring .. and does that trick DEEP.
The tejon with a 8 1/2 inch round wide Scan coil was Way better in depth than the stock coil. With a stock coil I got 8 inches Max on a dime with the 8 1/2 round wide Scan I got dimes at 12 inches with room to go deeper the 8 1/2 is the coil for the tesoro detectors I talked to Vince at tesoro about this coil and he had different ideas like people won't buy the detectors without the stock coils with that gain that is the only coil I would want
Scanner guy : the test of the tesoro tejon was impressive as I own one on deep coins with the stock coil dime 8 1/2 inches max at presets when I changed to a. 8 1/2inch wide scan dimes came in at 10 1/2 to 11inches with room to spare so get your Tejon with this coil on your test bed and see what the past score goes up to be your new favorite the 8 1/2 inch wide scan works the same on the cibola vaquero and the lobo st you tested just as good the score will go up
Going to. Lost the magnet 1st time out this year. ordered another one and am putting a vid up on the new build. should have it up tonight. Hoping to fish this weekend maybe. I'll have a few vids up by May I'm hoping.
@@EricK-to6zi I had the tiger shark as my first detector ever .. Shop told it was a great all rounder ( back then ) for fresh water it is a good one , but it has no serious depth .. in salt water it was useless as well as the salty wet sand at the beaches .. I loved it because it was rugged and has some kind vintage look and because it was very sensitive to the smallest of items .. Fine gold earrings , fine golden chains etc etc .. I once heard that it is actually a Compadre in watertight “ box “ And that you can crank the sensitivity up inside the box yourself .. Balance was also great especially when the box was mounted on the back top side.. Still kind of miss the thing😬
A friend of mine buried a silver dime @ 7 inches and said he can't hit it with the Vaq. It is in a paper package with staples a few in it. Should it be hitting it or not? Is the staples messing it up? I ordered a Tejon today when my outlaw came in broke. New. I hope i like the Tejon. It was a toss up. I just wonder how the machines do on silver coins. Some say the frequency being higher hurts these ones on silver coins. What do you think? Thanks
The Tejon is one of if not the deepest machine I've had even with the stock coil. The Vaq does just as good if you go slightly neg on ground balance. My Vaq is hitting dimes at 10 inches by running 1/4 turn negative ground balance. Stock it should hit 7 inches. The Tejon is hotter and chatters more but trust me, it's a deep machine. Soil conditions will of course help or hurt bad. I have videos up on the vaq hitting a 12 inch quarter
I have watch a ton of your great vids. Very informative. I love the flash light vids! That dime my friend buried 7 inches is a silver dime, do you think that is why he is not hitting it? Maybe the composition of the metal is throwing it off or something? It beats me. You hear all the noise about the frequency of the machine helping or hurting hunting different metals. Tesoro web FAQ says it doesn't matter. My Tejon will be here tomorrow. A part of me wants to stay home and skip work!
Your videos are awesome! Did you ever get any other coils and test them on the Tejone? I'm leaning heavily toward getting this detector and would like to know what my options are. Thanks!
thanks tons for the insights on flashlights! I'm glad I'm patient, or I'd have as big of a collection as you LOL, but the "thumb" light- I gotta have that one!
Thanks, Mac. The mispronunciation of simple Spanish words is not really acceptable at this point in time. You should hear how they butcher Spanish, as well as French, here in Colorado (streets, locations, rivers, etc.). You provided an educational service to all, with your post.
Is battery life really such a consideration for a powerful detector that finds stuff that others don't? Small price to pay I'd say. Yes, headphones will increase battery life

+rjb444 .THE TIME SEARCHERS thanks. I have to get more vids up on it.
that's right ..Tesoro lobo forever
I couldn't agree more. If the Tejon wasnt as good as it is, IMHO, I'd've fekked it off 7 years ago!
Thank you for this beautiful video about my favorite detector :) It's really a beast.

Are you able to do the same test with the 2 DD / widescan coils?
great video! I was wondering if you are going to run the racer 2 through your test bed
Tejon is badger in spanish
out of your test which is the best metal detector you suggest for finding deep dimes?
Nice reviews mate keep them coming
does it have any other tones than one they all sound the same
I have been wanting to get into metal detecting. I inherited this detector from my uncle, but just seems so hard to learn on. I have been wanting to get something like the ace 400 with a screen. what are your thoughts on that?
+austin wakefield haven't had one yet but the 350 was a good detector. So the 400 will be as well but with a nice screen and digital number.

+Jeffery Bernard Cool. I'll have to try that. Thanks
Yea great machine and deep I live in the UK like the big coil and the elliptical coil goes deep
Thanks for the review. Btw I believe it’s pronounced “tee-hone”.
why don't you magnet fish anymore?
Going to. Lost the magnet 1st time out this year. ordered another one and am putting a vid up on the new build. should have it up tonight. Hoping to fish this weekend maybe. I'll have a few vids up by May I'm hoping.
oh ok good luck!
killer vids. if only they came waterproof! I wonder how the Sand Shark would do in the test bed.
Or the tiger shark.

I've only ran the stock coil. Even with that it's hard to beat.
Great performance test. Is your ground contaminated in any way , hot rocks , iron, minerals ? #historyrevisited
Tesoro (treasure) Tejon (badger)

Yup- lived there in the early sixties. Zoon-eye
was one of my favorites
that's too many batteries for the hours you get. headphones extend that any?

Nice review. The dislikes are Calabash Digger and his friends. Lol
Lol
Awesome machine, it rivals my sovereign.
Hard to beat the Tesoro Tejon , it is one to learn well. GL......HH....b-watchin. Get a chance stop by and see my latest find.
Po
complete waste of money. Digging for bottle caps and spare change...I threw mine in the trash.
I call BS. I like to believe that you're not that much of a moron.
You must be kidding ..
I never almost never dug botlle caps with none of my tesoros..
This detectors tell more audio wise then most multi tone ones .
Spend some time with it. Most junk has a harsh, choppy tone. Coins and jewelry will have a smooth tone. Usually 😅. It takes time to learn.
