Hello, am a longtime DFX user and just ordered the V3i today ! am real excited to get it early next week. Want to say your video is outstanding. A real test bed with real world applications. The way you showed how the 3 frequencies can operate and tell trash from coin, is the best have seen. Super video, thanks for taking the time to do that !
Excellent video, I have a whites eagle sl 11 90 I love it , I have numerous detectors modern and old school but my 90, one day I would love a V 3i. Thank you
That was uplifting, I love and hate my v3i. I need to focus on it in order to make it work for me . You were correct, the v3i is not for everyone. Yes it is ahead of its time when comparing it to even my CTX3030. I hope to one day call it my go to detector. Thanks for your videos
Cats having a party in this one, doing some "detecting" of their own. Obviously next to your test bed they have made one of their own! Love the videos and your time invested testing units for us. Thank you!
Can't tell you how happy I am to see you use and test this machine. I've had them all and this is my go-to. I do wish you hadn't sent the V3 in to "upgrade" to the V3i. The V3 had 2 advantages. 1. Better ground balance/tracking (tracking was slowed in the update to gain a better ID, but they went too far backward and this is noticeable in harsher or rapidly changing terrain. 2. The V3 had peer to peer wireless data transfers intact. This was removed in the update to satisfy a Minelab suit that whites could've easily won. In any case, I have 2 V3s for program sharing and instruction and a V3i because some of the updates were actually cool and the machine is unaffected in mild to moderate ground. I'm extracting the wireless transfer code with a sniffer now, and I'll be using a code generator to try to make this feature operational again in the V3i. I'll also be using it to create a PC user interface for programming. Stay tuned.
Neither of those assertions are true. 1. It hasn't been tested by anybody. 2. The transfer hardware is intact. It is the same hardware that makes the wireless headphones operational. The code was extracted for data transfer.
Hmm i own a v3i and i was wondering why would you have RX gain on 5 ?? If you want more depth you suppose to have that at least 13-15 for more depth right?
the v3i is easily the best machine because it does more than every single other machine, you can literally change anything and everything including the icons for targets its crazy indepth.
@Finders-Keepers I can go detect with a v3i, and take a deus or even a equinox and not find anything that the v3i missed. It's better than people think, because of you don't program it right you won't find shit. It's about you knowing what you are doing. I don't even own a v3i anymore. Because of health issues I don't detect anymore.
No, what the V3i has shown us is that the vast majority of detectorists aren't all they are cracked up to be. It requires the user to actually know something about metal detectors. A well tuned V3i will leave nothing behind for any VLF based machine
BTW: Re-watched the video now that I've been swinging the V3i. Thank you for this detailed test. It definitely will help me now to audibly/visually discriminate. I've been digging everything prior just to be safe - but I like what you have shown.
Hey Scanner Guy..... you do a very good job on doing all of the test to give people a good perspective of what all the different detectors will do. I looked at you list of detectors that you have tested & I didn’t see the XP Deus...? I can guarantee that if you were to do the depth test with it you would have a New King of the amount of points given to a detector & I almost bet it would pass every test you put it through! KMoto Morris
Hope you will get the change to test the XP deus and the Nox 800 also, they sell very well in Europe. Also The Golden Mask 5 does get good reviews, so interested in that one as well
Hi there, am s longtime Whites DFX Spectrum. Loved your video but I also have a suggestion for when you decide to make an upgrade to your test bed: It needs more non-coin targets. White's are all great coin machines, tweaked and calibrated to make them probably the best coin detectors in all categories - entry level up to pro machines like the V3i. So this test bed kind of favored it. A different set up for the test bed would also be more relevant to a European audience. Down in Europe we have lots of stuff from medieval and ancient times - lots of useful, worth-diggin targets, not just coins. As a Spectrum DFX user I would have loved to get a glimpse of what to expect of the V3i, outside the realm of coin hunting. You should also consider bigger bullets and it's nice you included the casing in your driveway cause we have lots of that over here as well, with all the wars in the past. Overall, a nice informative video, thanks for posting this.
V3i is a good machine. Only problem is when you go out to a trashy park with deep sliver. The 3vi will miss half the sliver cant just listen for the threshold to cut and pinpoint to find out what you had. This is where a 300. Simplex would kill the v3i. On clean ground the 3vi may do well . A minelab equinox 600 or 800 would kill a v3i any day.
Good test. I was brought up on White's detectors. I can't complain about any detector I have owned. I always wanted to get the V3i at some point. If you don't mind me asking... where are you located?
Why weren't you running the tx boost ? I think you should re-run your test and turn on the tx boost. I bet you will see a marked difference in depth, also an sef search coil works better/goes deeper than the stock coil . I have a V3i, and love it,"but" there is a learning curve involved.
I own both , from my experience the CTX3030 was alot easier to learn. I bought the v3i first with very high expectations. Unfortunately I'm not advanced enough to pull out all it can offer . The CTX3030 in my opinion was a little tricky to learn but in no time you'll love it . Its target id is spot on. I can dig nine out if ten targets and call them before hand with the CTX3030 best yet you will never dig up a newer bottle cap . The rustty caps are difficult to avoid but even then you'll get good hints . The v3i is a very different type of technology. It may work for you , for me after 4 years I still feel like a newbie with my v3i.
Going to hunt for a neighbor's titanium wedding ring in his garden when the rain quits in a few days. Anybody have a clue as to what VDI number/range I should look for? Since titanium is a low conductivity metal, I am thinking in the lower numbers? Should I use C&G program or All Metal? Thanks.
On a V3i the lower the number the faster the recovery speed. You do lose a lot of depth when you drop below 60. The Deep Silver program uses a recovery speed of 120 and the 2.5 kHZ single frequency.
OMG thanks. That would be why when i switched to silver ot seemes deeper. I was thinking wrong. Thinking higher was faster. Green side up as they say. Thanks
The Deep Silver program is the deepest of the factory programs for high conductors targets. You can air test a half-dollar at 20" in the deep silver program with the RX Gain at 12 and disc sensitivity at 90. However in ground with the ground minerals it is way less and a lot more noisy. When I look at the recovery speed setting I think in milliseconds (ms). A recovery speed of 60 would be 0.6 ms and a recovery speed of 120 would be 1.2 ms. I'm pretty sure these are not the actual timings for recovery but it gives me a mental picture of the the recovery speed.
Inform the owner of the device that he has the wrong rod assembled! Because of this common mistake among beginners, the weight of the device increases and the balance is wrong. It is necessary to turn The s-shaped rod. The weight of the spectra will be lighter and the hand will be less tired from the weight.
Yeah. Either down or up. Thinking you are right tho because tests are a little harder on the machines. I should redo with a detector that I used at 1st and see

The threshold can be turned down to just a whisper. The tones can be changed to sound different. If had my V3i for 8 years and love it.

t wont work because you wont extract anything its been tested already and to boot the chip that controls the transfer is not installed in v3i units.

Please do a depth test with Garrett Ace 400 and tell me how many points she's doing!
I used my DFX with the DX-1 probe... and I just moved the probe over to my new (gently used) V3i. So far, I feel the probe works better with the V3i.

Have you tested the Whites MX Sport?
Love to see a CZ-3D on that test. Where are all the Detector rankings?

I'm glad I came across this video I just got my v3i and this helped me out a lot.... I subscribe and like ..awesome
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped
You need to run the v3i in the drive thru theatre clad pile
Where's the CTX-3030 stand?

Excellent video scannerguy.
Why is it buzzing like that does it ever quit buzzing
My dad used to metal detect (he might be still detecting in heaven, where he’s at now.
Testing Minelab-Equinox 800.
I have both and I honestly feel it's the best combo you ever hope for.
@@Mr.Technical77 Yep.
good to see a detecting video.
Awesome and very helpful!
Why is it buzzing like that
Also... I love the kittens in the video.
Do you have detech coil 12x10 or 13"?
I have and use both the SEF 12 x10, ultimate 13 both very nice coils...purchased the 13" for the MXT
Thanks for posting!
What’s the vid number on the kitty🐯❤️
Bounces all over the place. Lol

i go out and hunt for a while today 👍
Nice vid. 👍
Intake by six points off of that it didn't to do too good in iron with the coins in there
If your test bed is 7 years old your coins probably sank a little bit more so you might want to add a couple inches lol

That threshold is unbearable
Those tones are putrid.
