You are so talented and skilled Miami. You really nailed their sound down to Dave's vocals. Fantastic!
Thanks Marcos! Means a lot
-Miami
Miami you are a monster 👊 keep it up man. Would love to see you make full versions of these covers/copycat tracks and post them up for us to enjoy.
Hal, i swear i would love to, but doing the entire songs would take so much more work i'd have to halt some of the educational content and i just cant afford to at the moment. People need thir weekly tips!!! But im honestly flattered youd be waiting for the day that i dropped something
-Miami
@@joeymusic I feel that man. Keep turning everything into gold my dude.
Holy crap, that vocal! Well done Miami! And great info throughout, very big thanks!
Thanks Jeff! Have fun with the template
-Miami
Other than the obvious auto tune id say that was spot on, Well done!
LOL I love when morons say things like "Obvious auto tune"... Your ears are as worthless as that comment.
Nailed it! Wow! Thank you for the video!
Damn dude, you NAILED it!! Thank you for the breakdown and great performances.
Thanks for this!!! Incredible vocals man!
HI MIAMI. YOU'RE AWESOME, DUDE. I just saw you with some other great vids on the channel. Never stop doing what you do. You're an inspiration.
AMAZING JOB!!
man it's been awhile and forgot how great this song is. loved your interpretation of it!
It really is a classic, man... I was struggling between which song to do but I just landed here and am happy I did. Tysm
-Miami
I need to hear a full cover of this. Your vocal is so powerful and clean.
Dude! This is awesome you have a great voice. Loved this video.
Thanks Clifford! Who would you want to see next
-Miami
One of my fave tracks, cracking job there M.
Incredible work Miami, my God 🙌🏻
Thanks Derek! I really appreciate it
-Miami
Killer!!! Brother!!! Nailed it!!
Like these breakdown videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks Rob! What would you like to see next?
-Miami
@@joeymusic First off, keep up the good work. I enjoy JST videos and all the information you put out there. There are to many possibilities on where to go next so I'll just say examples of tones and techniques. I found several interesting EQ moves to try out in this episode.
Paraphrasing:
"I wanted a nice and round bass tone, so I grabbed this Death Metal bass sample pack by Buster Odeholm."
Never change, Miami!
Bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣
-Miami
It's just bass you could use most samples here haha
That was great Miami! And it proves the song is a hit no matter who performs it, Bravo.
It’s a classic for real! I never tried to do my own take on it but I really loved how this came out
-Miami
Wow! You got some pipes, Miami! Nicely done.
Thanks John! This was a lot of fun
-Miami
Man, you did it! 👏👏👏
Those vocals sound great! Very impressive. Overall stellar job
Appreciate you Glen! Really wanted to capture the nuances that make foo fighters legends
-Miami
I’d say mission accomplished
Man that's actually really nice. Kudos
NAILED IT…. AS ALWAYS!!! Yessir
Thanks so much!
-Miami
Appreciate the vid and homage to this band, man. I recently produced a band that is like Deftones/Foo Fighters meets Tool/Karnivool. This would’ve helped a good bit, I’ll have to save it for next time, thanks! :)
Of course, Jacob! The drum preset is a nice quick way to get started for scratch tracks and stuff as well
-Miami
Nice work
great take on the foo fighters sound from in your honor!
Sounds amazing man! \m/
Thanks Mike! This was so much fun to make
-Miami
THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST.... singer! Killer vox!
Thanks Brodie! Almost died trying to do this lol
-Miami
Man!!! Loving your gritty vox!! Deffo do more on singing!!!!
Great work.
Thanks so much! Lmk if you end up loving the template!
-Miami
Great !!!
Glad you liked it, Christian!
-Miami
Your voice❤️ too good.
Thank you 😀
-Miami
Nice vocals dude!
Wow! You really nailed it! 🙌🏻
I believe you should seriously consider singing in a hard rock band
I think those days might be behind me 😅 Thank you very much tho
-Miami
There we some moments you sounded just like him!!! Wow
Think you killed it bro
That hits me in the heart!
-Miami
Sounds amazing. Great tribute. I wouldn't change anything (but might cut down on the transition game ;))
Lmao you’ve been here for a long time, but there are people seeing it for the first time everyday 😂
-Miami
@@joeymusic true :).
damn dude - sounds killer. Amazing job on that vocal sound (you, not the effects)
Some love for TF BB!! I feel like it's the least fave of people but I absolutely love it. Been saying the Leslie effect in it should be its own expanded plugin.
I thought it was really Dave’s singing. Man you sounded great! Nice tips!
Thanks so much my friend!
-Miami
@@joeymusic Question, I'm new to mixing and still confused how loud a good DI is, while checking your template, I find the DIs to be pretty good sounding, but it's already hitting around -6db on the channel and when everything is playing the stereo bus is already clipping which I don't think advisable peak if you're sending it to master. Do you recommend pulling the gain on every channel to fix that?
Very well done! Since you asked at the end of the video, the only thing I might change is to push the vocals back a little bit timing-wise. They feel a bit rushed, but excellent job nonetheless!
The kick that you get when the sound guy is getting levels. Haha yeah, I know that one.
The kick sound I got here is pretty much the sound I hear in my head when doing that sound check lol
-Miami
MIAMI!! You killed that bro. Absolutely nailed it.
R.I.P. TAYLOR HAWKINS
Thank you and, seriously.... R.I.P. to the legend
-Miami
Man, those vocals were spot on!!
Appreciate you Javier!
-Miami
fucking amazing!
Dude, you're an awesome singer! Please release some hard rock music 🙏
One of these days I might do something for fun
-Miami
Thoughts on using reverb on each drum or dialing in the right dry sound of the kit and then doing reverb on the bus.
It really depends, but in this one I wanted it to be a specific amount to each
-Miami
Damn you have a hell of a voice
Appreciate you my friend!
-Miami
Your voice is like a mix between Fergie and Jesus . Truly the songbird of our generation 🐐🐐🤣🔥
Aww you’re gonna make me blush 😅 thanks so much
-Miami
Guitars sound great :) All that pitch correction on the vox though?
I sing into autotune fam! I could do it the other way and tune all the notes with melodyne, but i feel like the emotion came through the takes tbh
-Miami
Not a bad Grohl, everything sounds killer!
Thanks Bryon! Hope you have fun with the template
@@joeymusic already experimenting with it 😘
99.9% nailed it, I just thought the vocals were a bit too hot in the final mix. Sounded great in the beginning though and great performance!
Yeah, i kept fighting with that grit knob lol. You can just dial it back in the template a bit and it'll work for what you got goin on. Listened to it a bajillion times as well, thanks for the feedback!
-Miami
@@joeymusic I really like to slam the dial all the way in each direction so it’s too quiet or too loud back and forth a few times so I can get it in the right spot as opposed to just nodding it a few clicks.
While I love this channel, today I have mixed feelings. Bass wise, while the tone is perfect, the midi fact element of it made it sound so... sterile and robotic that I wasn't even looking at the screen, but had to because of how mechanical it sounded, it really steals off from a band that pretty much, has the hole point of being "as authentic as possible".
Other than that, very nice work as usual, vocals were on point, so it may have been worth it that you pushed that extra mile right there ;)
This just makes me wish that JST would release a proper British voiced ampsim with some vox, marshall and orange flavors.
I’m gonna keep my lips sealed
-Miami
WOW. Thats on on focking point. Next Linkin Park maybe? (any style you want)
This would be so much fun! I'm def ading that to the list
-Miami
More rock please!
Maybe mathrock/japanese style?
Would love to step into the world of math rock
-Miami
RIP Taylor Hawkins. this was great putting everything in context. How do you distinguish the sound when they have 3 guitarists? 3 guitarist would probably all have different tones Or is it that just dont all play on the album and more for live?
Honestly I just did it by listening to the mix. I don’t really know what happened in the studio but what we do know is what we hear in the final product. I’ve spent so much time with amps in my day I can sort of pick out the flavors of things even when they’re layered. Glad you enjoyed it, Robert! Rip to the legend
-Miami
safe to say it's super difficult to replicate the foos. near impossible, but that's what makes them unique. cool video overall though, and a nice tribute to TH.
Why didnt you lower the output on the bass amp to avoid clipping? Was it done later or is it beneficial in this scenario? I always lower vst to the "sweet spot"
I usually dial up the Pork Lotion for maximum stereo image then pull back on the Bon Jovi Bottle Farts before final compression.
@@Fiveash-Art wha-
@@hjockzi Try it ... I think you'll find it produces unexpected but quite economic results when it comes to headroom ... Also you might try peeing into the air hose ... It just adds that special pungent flavor and gives boosted nutrition to any modern symphony.
@@Fiveash-Art bro what are u talking about xd
im so confused here lmao
-Miami
I don't understand. The eq on the cymbals make them disappear in the mix.
Dude, autotune aside (don't think you need it) awesome job sounding like Dave on the vocals, damn!
whats that drum plugin?
It’s called Drumforge!
-Miami
I loved the vocal performance but you dont need all that auto tune man its clear you got pipes just do a few more takes and get it in naturally.
PS: Tips were great dude no hate all love :)
Yeah man lol Autotune just makes it simple to get these projects done in a timely manner. I might just upload the performance with it bypassed lol it’s not all that different tbh
-Miami
@@joeymusic I hear you brother 🙏
@@joeymusic This kind of early 2000s Rock doesn't need spot on pitch 100% of the time. Little imperfections are what make those songs great :)
Hi, just wondering where is the ProTools template? clicked the link and ended up with a reaper template which was utterly useless for me. Thanks, Marshall
Should be in the folder! I’ll check this in about an hour when I’m back at the studio
-Miami
Miami, u have a great voice so please don’t use auto-tune next time
Thanks Gaetan, I realized later on that I was using too much. I redid this on UA-cam at some point without it and it sounds so much better lol
-Miami
you what about us Presonus Studio one DAW users???? we make up like 30% of the music making crowd now. Just sayin
Y’all really do make a dent in the crowd, but it’s honestly a lot doing these ngl. I’m just one person at the end of the day 🥲 but if enough people keep asking I’m going to make it a reality
-Miami
@@joeymusic 👊 all good, I'll make one with using the great advice in this video!!
Miami, you blow my mind with every single thing you touch, my guy. I am literally sitting here just staring at my screen, like.. H O L Y . S H * T .
Appreciate that so much, Jason! I’m just getting startedddd
-Miami
This a great college try! Your voice is prettier than Dave’s cuz you are actually singing! The drums though🤔🤔🤔🤔
bruh that thumbnail though rofl
You ain’t never lied
-Miami
Rip Taylor
He’s up there with Darby and Kurt now.
"the foo fighters"
The autotune on the vocals was a little too much. Other than that its almost identical to the original..great stuff Miami!!
Yeah listening after the fact I coulda pulled it back a lil but I was in the zone mixing it lol
-Miami
the sound is cool but the autotune is a bit too heavy
why we're here...because yes foo fighters are one of the greatest bands of all time....and because everything foo fighters is doing numbers right now because of Taylor Hawkins death....might as well capitalize too right?
So sorry to commemorate an amazing band and try to share a bit of his stylistic choices and sound with the audience. Have a good day, Jay
