Alfred McCoy Tyner (born December 11, 1938) is a jazz pianist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, known for his work with the John Coltrane Quartet and a long solo career.
He began studying the piano at age 13 and within two years music had become the focal point in his life. His early influences included Bud Powell, a Philadelphia neighbor. When he was 17, he converted to Islam through the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and changed his name to Sulieman Saud.

McCoy tyner was mostly known for his pentatonic scales, fourths, powerful chords which is great, but he was an amazing ballad player as well. The way he played ballads was so unique in its own way. So mesmerizing. Legends never die.
A master piece in every single way. I feel like this performance reached the spiritual plain and brought a token from it for us to hear.
This is my favorite McCoy Tyner composition and an exceptional version of it as well. Thank you so much for posting it.
Perfect.
