This triology is simply a masterpiece.. everyone nailed their characters. These even no need to mention Nolan's brilliance
But you did anyway!!
And also Zimmer's phenomenal score of pure adreniline filled PERFECTION.
Nailed Bane... lol no, dude. Bane is not an over glorified babysitter. C'mon. Nolan clearly doesn't read comics. Something he confirmed himself. The only character portrayed correctly was Scarecrow...in the whole trilogy. Everyone else just straight up didn't act like the characters.
Love this trilogy, but when judging it as an adaptation of the Batman mythos there are definitely some faults.
@@RevJ7 it’s a different version of the character. Get over it.
"Oh you're gonna get the juice, babe"
Holden, no matter what people say - do NOT put it on a t-shirt please...
That can have 2 meanings.
Don’t listen to him Holden. You should definitely put it on a t-shirt.
Correct. Put it on underwear
😂😂😂
WHEEZE THE JUICE!!!
Every reaction to this movie always leaves out the best line:
"I never said thank you"
"And you'll never have to"
I did see a reactor called queen tofu who left that line in
Shocked casual reactors don't get it
The ending chokes me up. “I never said thank you.” “And you’ll never have to.” It’s the first film version of Batman that really showcases how much Batman reveres Gordon. I love that relationship so much.
“Looks like this town’s gone to shit” got a real belly laugh out of me.
Same! Came here to say this.
"This looks like a job for... The Plunger!"
Jen: “you know who Alfred is?… Dobby” 🤣🤣🤣
No. Alfred is Samwise Gamgee.
In the new movie he’s Sméagol or Gollum depends on his mood
The visuals in this movie are legit. Scarecrow on the horse, it rears and blows fire… Then when batman is flying over everyone and his eyes are glowing and looks like an actual bat. So cool
I'm one of those people who loves this the best, mainly because it's so focused on Bruce's origin, and I love Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow.
Batman and Daredevil have a lot in common because of one man, Frank Miller. Frank made Batman Year One, which this movie takes a lot cues from, and he wrote the Daredevil run, that made the character who he is to this day, both of which were around the same point in time in the 80's.
Also another man who influenced both is Jeph Loeb. Jeph wrote another story that influenced this, Batman: The Long Halloween, and his Daredevil story, Daredevil Yellow, didn't have a huge impact on the character, but it's up there.
Then one day Frank Miller went full All star batman and robin 😔
I'm especially a fan of the stealth combat in this movie that isn't really seen in the later ones.
and Katie Holmes here ^_^
@@ger.baltav Yeeeeeeaaaaaahhhh... He sure did...
Most of Daredevil season one and two are based on Frank Miller's work
“Impressive, very nice. Let see Paul Allen’s watch to the movie.”
Alfred is the greatest sidekick ever.... That's a hill I'm willing to die in
That’s why he got his own movie in Teen Titans Go.
@@gawainethefirst he has a series too, it's called Pennyworth i think.
Who would disagree with that though?
Jen: They're like a gang...
Holden: Yeah, well more like a league. A League of Shadows (DUH, duh, DUHHHH).
Jen; Like a bowling league?
TOO FUNNY!!!
I paused the video to look for such a comment😂
Yes,yes ras al ghul is well known for his mastery of combat and his prowess at bowling they have one downstairs you know
Holden saying “as opposed to killing everyone with a bomb in the city.”
Everyone here: *Bane voice* “that comes later”
this movie is very underrated, not many people talk about it because of how good The Dark Knight was, but this movie is a very good start to the trilogy.
@@Gnossiene369 it's not underrated just because he said so. It's underrated because it's better than the dark Knight by a hair and people act like it's worse by a kilometer.
I always knew The Dark Knight was a masterpiece, but re-watching this movie for the first time in 10 years made me realize this is the PERFECT Batman origin movie 🙌🏾
Yup. I like 1 and 2 way more than Dark Knight Rises, despite Tom Hardy’s great performance
Batman Begins is better than The Dark Knight as a film but what appeals to more people is that The Dark Knight had a much bigger and wider feeling and captured more of the city.
@@bighands69 this is true. I suppose people didn't like the movie being focused on the narrows i suppose. As a big batman and James bond fan this movie always felt the most James bond-esque in grand plan and ra's Al ghul is always the most bond-like villain Batman deals with. Also in certain aspect, this adaptation of his origin is better than the comics.
Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Returns Deluxe Edition, and Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero are my 3 favourite Batman films. Then I would rank the Dark Knight Right those. I like The Dark Knight Rises a lot too but it would still make my top 10 if we count all the straight to video releases, and so would The LEGO Batman Movie, which is very underrated.
@@crobeastness
My favorite are Batman 1989 and Batman Begins.
Damn, your output lately is crazy!
Hahaha he took me on as his full-time editor so we’ve been pumping these out!
@@DMFX1 good stuff man 🙌🏾
@@DMFX1 you're the genius editor? You definitely mastered your art
@@xvor_tex8577 thank you!!
*Everyone:* man it's so cool that Batman can just hide in the shadows like that it's like he melts into them.
*Jen:* what a freak
Batman is weird and a shut in loner..
She'll get it someday
Katie Holmes did @ least have the best quote of the movie, "It's not who you are underneath but what you do that defines you." I love how he reveals his identity to her @ the end by repeating that quote to her, brilliantly written.
"Judge someone by the content of their character not thr color of their skin"
Katie Holmes shouldve been in TDK. Maggie Gyllenhaal sucked.
@@whodatninja439 scheduling conflict. Nolan was very upset she couldn't return. It's always so jarring to see replacements in sequels. I still can't get over that mark ruffalo is the new Bruce banner and Don Cheadle is war machine. I actually like both of them more then the actors they replaced but it's still jarring.
If you’re being charitable to the League of Shadows, I think the reason they wanted Gotham to destroy itself is to teach it a lesson about their own corruption bringing about their downfall, so that they rebuild as something better and less corrupt. If you destroy it using an outside force, it may rebuild exactly the same or even worse than it was before.
I've never thought about it that way
I couldn't get over the bit about using a microwave emitter that vaporizes water but somehow not things that are 60% water...
I thought their motivation was more along the lines of cutting off a gangrenous limb in order to save the body.
The ideology is quite similar to that of V for Vendetta, but instead of blowing up parliament building, you create an example of horrific genocide in which a city basically kills itself and serve it as a reminder to the rest of the world to be better. Like we still talk about Rome and the French revolution, we need modern examples to shock people out of apathy.
Raʼs al Ghul literally explained why, maybe they were talking and Jen missed it?
“I don’t know if they do other superheroes besides Batman.” DC editorial isn’t sure either considering how many Batman comics they put out relative to the rest of their characters.
Yup. Plus all DC media have reference Batman in some form. Probably because DC Comics literally means "Detective Comic's Comics. Detective refering to Batman.
I always liked ‘lego marvel superheroes’... ‘lego Batman. feat DC superheroes’ ... sums up DC
@@WuMyth. There's superman, the flash, black adam, Harley Quinn, aquaman, shazam, wonder woman like seriously they made movies of them not everything they do is Batman like seriously
@@blackfrieza1912 Im talking about the lego game... instead of Lego Justice League, they did Lego Batman feat. Dc... Yes naming other dc characters isn’t a point? DC is very set up through most media as Batman centric... has 4 triple A Arkham games, 2 telltale games, lego Batman movie, lego Batman game trilogy, more dc 10:1 ratio of dc animated movies are Batman... if not really a debate, hey I love Batman, not a diss
@@WuMyth. To be fair and honest Batman is literally an iconic legendary superhero that is known by even the non superhero and comic fans like he's super popular. Same thing with spiderman
We need a really great artist to draw Jen as The Plunger. xD
"I'm being sarcastic, he was in Taken."
I love this line lol.
That engagement ring looks really good on Jens hand. Good job Holden!
haha i was going to comment on that too
Cillian Murphy is an amazing actor! And Scarecrow is easily in my top 5 favourite comic book villains of all time.
Merging those two concepts together is just perfection!
One of the best trilogies ever, can happily watch this time and again! Also seeing as you mentioned it about 8mins in if you haven’t watched it before you should watch the two Zorro films they released with Antonio Banderas although I maintain that the first film is by far the best of the two, the second is no competition
Also, Zorro the Gay Blade.
One of the best trilogies to date. The only nitpick is Bale’s voice as Batman. I mean, c’mon now, Alfred knows you’re Batman under there. You can talk in your normal voice now. 😂
he was still in costume, still batman
Watch the batman audition you will know why they chose the voice and why bale got the role and then think about making fun about it. 😒
This is my favorite out of the three. Cillian kills it as scarecrow and Batman becoming something is a great way to show how hard he trained.
Batman Begins - 9.6/10
The Dark Knight - 9.5/10
The Dark Knight Rises - 8.5/10
The music in this movie is so good!! So fitting with all the scenes. Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard (and Ramin Djawadi) did a phenomenal job with the music!
22:22 Never thought about that🤣 "Well Master Bruce is sleeping off a weaponised hallucinogenic, time to tee off"
Side note, Jen's hair is absolutely gorgeous and the color really brings out the green in her eyes, love it
When you mentioned Sirius Black when Gary showed up; that is actually the reason you didn't see Sirius Black besides the CGI fireplace scene in Goblet of Fire. Sirius was supposed to have had a bigger role in Goblet of Fire but it was greatly reduced due to filming conflicts
"This was before Ironman so it doesn't have a post credits scene."
Fun fact: All of the X-Men movies have post credit scenes and they came out waaaaay before Ironman.
The original X-Men films had post credit scenes? I don’t remember them
@@kman20 Yup, every single one of them.
@@TooFurious4 x-men and x2 don’t have post credit scenes. I just watched them.
@@kman20 My apologies, I was wrong. X-Men The Last Stand is the first one to have a post credit scene.
PotC did them before the X-men.
"Oh, you're gonna get the juice, babe." yowzah! Best line of the year.
Besides the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie, this is the movie that really got me into the superhero genre. I really connected to Bruce and his trauma and even though I was 14 I really liked the dark aspect of it and this trilogy is absolutely iconic. These are my favorite DC movies and they really raised the bar for the whole genre. I have such a nostalgic connection for this trilogy, this movie especially. After I watched this, Batman became my favorite superhero. Christian Bale is my favorite Batman and Alfred is such a gem. I love Marvel now but back then, I was all about Batman. I’m glad you’re showing this masterpiece to Jenn, especially since she seems to love the darker movies! Looking forward to the next 2 videos!
Probably the best superhero trilogy of all time. Just so iconic! Very good writing, acting, and just overall just great movies! I can't wait to see her reaction to The Dark Knight!
I wouldn't be mad at that, I have Blade a very close 2nd
Wrong. Raimi
@@borisleoro8943 Even with part 3
@@bigstevie1690 lol im biased but yes
@@borisleoro8943 I'm the same with Batman
I love the first 2 but just really like 3
It's a good movie but has a lot of flaws
You’re the first reaction channel I watch every video of regardless of the movie. Others I go to watch the movie in a short format because I have no attention span and occasionally listen to them. You guys I’m watching the whole time and occasionally look up at the movie, endless entertainment please keep up the vids you two, your chemistry reacting together is unmatched!
These intros just keep getting more and more impressive :D The intro is such a small detail in the grand scheme of things, yet it makes such a huge difference!
I was almost convinced it was footage from the movie, only that I know the movie so well I knew it wasnt
Best Superhero Trilogy IMO

Holden literally joking through every heavy and deep scene
It got annoying honestly
Indeed, was a bit much. Felt like they didn't really wanna watch this one
been waiting for this vid for a while now, so excited it's finally here
So excited for this! But also... my man... your videos are so crisp and the colors are so good.
1. The look on Jennas face when told "oh you're gonna get the juice babe".
2. The plunger joke really got me. "Looks like this towns gone to shit" haha 🤣😂
Edit: legit had to stop the video to laugh for a good minute after that damn joke. XD
Jen: Ledger with Bale will be an interesting dynamic...
Me: ...duo! Dynamic Duo! You missed it! XD
Been waiting for this for ever!!! ThankYou!
Hey Holden I just want to tell you that I have been waiting for this video for so long! I love your content so much and I’ve been watching since Matt watched Star Wars! Keep up the great work
I was eating cereal and literally spit out some milk for the “looks like this whole towns gone to shit” line
bro, these intros are awesome 🤘love watching your content and reactions, keep it up :D
Thanks man! Between the underground driving shots and the title simulation with 4000 bats, I worked pretty hard on this one!
@@DMFX1 well good work 👍 i dont know anything about animation or stuff like that but you seem pretty good with that stuff and i just think that these intros adds so much to the videos 🤘
@@nico3587 Thanks for the kind words Nico! Err... I just appreciate kind words when said.
@@DMFX1 Great work DMFX!
I was wondering if Jen had seen these!! They are amazing! Enjoy!!
Wow, talk about timing! I just showed my cousins Batman Begins on Thursday. They really liked it, and are super hyped for Dark Knight.
I just want to voice my approval for Dark Hair Jen. As the Mandalorian says, this is the way. On the subject of the film, I actually like Begins and Rises the best, because they're more Bruce focused stories.
Rises is not as Bruce focused as begins.
@@crobeastness Honestly few Batman movies are, but The Dark Knight is certainly The Joker's movie.
Whoever makes these intros is so good at it. Keep it up!
It is I! Hahaha thanks Daniel I work really hard on these. I’m his full-time editor but I started out just making animations for his channel!
@@DMFX1 Do you make all the 3d models yourself or?
@@DMFX1 Wow, thats dope!
Also, watched your blender showreal. Just wow!
What's really good about this movie (personally) is the training sequence between Bruce and Ra's al Ghul. When comes with there conversations between the two and the physical training.
yessir, i've been waiting for this!!!!
Beautiful start to a beautiful trilogy
2004's, The Punisher is still my favorite "hero" origin movie ever. Would love to see a reaction to that. I don't think I've seen anyone react to it yet.
The way you went oooooooh at the WB LOGO. The WB logos for this and the matrix give me goosebumps.
Whoa, I started watching this and thought for like 5 seconds that I was watching you guys react to a clip of the movie. Then realized it was your title sequence for the video 😅😆💯 It looked really good!
You two should totally watch Reign of Fire. Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and Gerard Butler. All playing against type (for the time).
Yes! Next, my favorite of the Trilogy "The Dark Knight"
This came out during college for me. Was busy, but had to see it. -- Their slide on snow/ice to the edge always reminds me of "Citizen Kane", Orson Welles
YES! Another great series w/ one of my favorite reacting couples. Miss Fiancée is so adorable!
Dark Knight soon?
"You're gonna get the juice, Babe."
We need that on a shirt lmao
Yes! I actually am in that crowd that prefers this over The Dark Knight because I love origin stories. Anyways great review can't wait for the next.
Please turn on the bat signal to notify me the next "My Girlfriend Watches" is coming thank you! 🦇
Same!!!!
Man you’re really great thank you for all of the amazing content!
The dark knight I saw opening night in iMax, needless to say the hospital scene and the the scene where he is shooting the bullets at the bricks literally shook the theatre in a way I have never experienced in a movie theatre to this day. Love that movie, you're in for a treat and heath ledgers last and best performance ever. Rip
I don't know which one I saw but Christian Bale was in it.
Okay, we've nailed it down to about three possible choices.😂
Re: the Batman voice.
I didn't notice it in this at the time, but as the trilogy moved on, I came to hate it. It also bugged me that other superhero things in media seemed to think that the voice was the thing to copy like it was what makes these movies good. It felt like so many things had heroes doing that voice when they were in costume. I'm looking at you, Hawkman in Smallville.
The fact that the Berlanti shows had heroes who used voice modulators made me happier than I thought it would.
I got to say this again whoever makes the intros great job they’re so good.
I'm so glad you 2 are watching The Dark Knight Trilogy. One of my absolute favorite trilogies of all time, right up there with Spider-Man, Star Wars and Captain America. The Dark Knight Rises is my favorite of the trilogy but I'm excited to see you guys watch that one soon!
Sometimes I wonder what movies Jen watched before watching these movies for the first time. These are the good movies!
This trilogy puts must of the Mcu to shame
Dude Daredevil and then the Batman trilogy? Y'all are on a hot streak, so excited to see all the reactions especially to these 2 series.
Back to back to back banger vids, i like it
The Definitive Batman movie in my opinion! That is… until The Batman comes out in 2022 and hopefully is a masterpiece 😈
It better be, there hasn’t been a live action Penguin since Batman Returns.
@@Horneroid Penguin is definitely a character I’m hyped for too. He’s getting an HBO Max spinoff series too
@@Horneroid Not one in a movie...but Robin Lord Taylor played Penguin in the show "Gotham". Which is a highly underrated show (after Season 1) IMO.
@@TheViper4Life Yeah, Taylor played so perfect Penguin and basically whole show have awesome psychopatic villains.
@@user-vc5rp7nf8f Reeves' film also is completely standalone from the DCEU. Battinson is not Batfleck. It's a separate thing. It literally is the same independent story type as Nolan, except Reeves wants to include more of the Batfamily.
Can we just take a minute to appreciate Jen's hair 😎
When Jen called Alfred Dobby I thought for sure she'd see who Gordon is, unless I missed it. I love The Dark Knight trilogy.
9:36 Yeah, Holden, we see the irony on that line too. It’s kinda satisfying how it ended up meaning more in the context of the trilogy too
This trilogy & Gotham are the best interpretation of Batman for me.
I’m so excited for Battinson 🦇🦇
A little bit of trivia, before seeing the Batmobile in this movie Katie Holms didn't get why guys like their vehicles so much, afterwards she did.
Random trivia for this movie: as pointed out by Holden, the boy that Batman gives the gadget too when climbing up the house, the one that says, "It's you, isn't it?" That's the same actor that plays Joffrey in Game of Thrones. But also, the thief who kills Bruce's parents, is one of the guys who plays the Night King also in Game of Thrones.
One of the best trilogies ever made, even if the third one is pretty bad. As a true Marvel fan, I love The Dark Knight Trilogy
It’s not bad just nowhere near as good as the first two
Third one’s better than the second.
Crazy how ppl say the 3rd one is bad😂
Which third one is bad? Batman Forever? Because your definitely not talking about Dark Knight rises.
@@swissbeats2k HE IS!😂
I kinda like and hate this trilogy of Batman by Nolan... As a movie fan, I think they're very good movies... As a comic book fan, I understand that Nolan went for a very realistic take on Batman, what Batman would be like in our real world. That's his choice but I miss the wonder and the out-of-this-world vibes that super-hero comics provide. And for instance, the same goes for the interpretation of the Joker. Yes, Heath Ledger was great in his performance and he deserves his academy award but it's not the joker that I like, he lacks the cartonnish humor of the Joker IMO (and he lacks it because it didn't fall into the hyper-realistic take that Nolan wanted to put in his movies) It 's like ras al-ghul and him being hundreds of years old and immortal. Not in this movie, he is just a regular guy that created a myth around him.
Great timing, I just watched this last night
This was a good reaction video, can’t wait to see the 2nd movie, my favorite from this series
Everyone sleeps on the dark night rises. Personally I think it's the best of the 3
I totally agree
It's the weakest of the 3, IMO, but closer in tone and style to Batman Begins. I think it has about 2.5 films' worth of content that's squeezed into its running time making it seem very rushed and unsatisfying. Others might say it's brilliantly paced, lol.
@@raminybhatti5740 as someone who has ADHD I think it's paced perfectly. I can keep up with every storyline plus Bane is truely terrifying
In my opinion, the MCU has nothing to compare with this trilogy.
They also have nothing that compares to Joker either.
Omg! Never clicked so fast (Best trilogy/movies ever)👏👏👏
Always fun watching you two go through movie together. The Donner Superman movie is indeed the great grandfather of all modern comicbook movies. Shame that DC haven't reclaimed that glory in recent years
Mcu>dceu but every movie in this trilogy beats every other superhero movie
I’m a big fan of these, especially the dark knight. I’m also a fan of Christian Bale. But looking back at these movies, Christian Bale really doesn’t deliver a performance that makes a connection with the viewer. He just doesn’t compare to Keaton’s Bruce Wayne. In my opinion.
thats why i love batman and ironman the most, because of the gadgets & high techie stuffs and all
that batman voice.... its sounded like "feet"
guys, has Jen seen "now you see me" and its part 2? I hope they see it later sometime when they have time cuz it has morgan freeman and michael caine and its a real fun movie
Loving these new different intros man!
Thanks buddy! I put an insane amount of work into getting these done in a timely manner hahaha
So glad you guys are watching this! Been waiting for this one lol
5:36 Loving the dad phone case Holden
In the comics, The Waynes were watching the movie of Zorro. In this movie, they're watching a stage performance of Die Fledermaus, an operetta by Johann Strauss. "Die Fledermaus" is German for "The Bat".
OMG. I'm so stoked about this.
I love this movie so much. I know every one likes dark knight and most have watched this one after dark knight but this felt special.
I love that I was old enough to have seen Batman Begins in threatres as well as the Nolan trilogy in general. I remember in the theater people laughing when Rachel double slapped Bruce in the car and then at the end cheering when they saw the Joker card
YES. SO glad you are doing my favorite movie series ever.
Hey Holden, I really enjoy yours and Jen's reactions. You guys should watch the Bourne series.
