Fact: The whole performance during the SEA Games Opening Ceremony shows the history of the Philippines through the dance and music genres.
From the Sarimanok (Dancing Rooster) to Singkil (King and Queens dancing with bamboo sticks) to Spanish Colonization (Lajota) to Modern Day (KJ Inigo and Elmo performance). Something like that. There sure is a lot more to be included in the history but maybe that was the best way for them to simplify the whole sequence of changes in history up to date.

The flag of the Philippines has 3 stars that represent Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The 8 rays of the sun, represents the provinces that were conquered (correct me if i am wrong, fellow Filipinos) during the time of the wars. If blue is at the upper part of the flag, then it means that everything is at peace. If the red part is at the upper part, then there is war. 😉

The lifting of the house on the part of Christian B. and Aicelle Santos was one of the traditions of the Filipinos. It shows the unity and generosity of every Filipino. Long time ago Philippine houses was made of bamboos and other light materials and you can actually lift it when you want to transfer it. And that is when Filipinos helped each other. That is called BAYANIHAN.

8:08 that's called Bayanihan. Derived from the words bayan (community) and bayani (heroes), happens when Filipinos unite to do heroic acts for individuals and communities in need without expecting anything in return. Giving aid, without being asked, even to strangers, is Filipino culture.

What Bautista and Santos did is what we called "Kundiman" a traditional way of singing before disney did we have our own original way of singing psalms. Thats the reason why pilipino are comfortable singing disney track.

How come nobody is commenting about the Stars? The 3 stars represent LUZON, VISAYAS and MINDANAO island groups of the Philippines. Then the Sun has 8 rays that represents Philippine provinces I think? Every part of our flag has meaning to it. Taas noo mga Pilipino!

@8:18 it's called "bayanihan" (helping each others), the house (bahay-kubo) is being lifted by all the neighbors, usually happens in the provinces. when a couple decided to relocate, they literally lifted the whole house to the specific location rather than dismantling it and rebuilding it afterwards. from that specific gestures came out the word "bayanihan".
