I’ve sold football equipment for over 20 years to college and HS programs, and I agree w/most of his recommendations, but I have to recommend the Phenom Elite brand gloves over Nike, UA and Adidas. I bought a couple pairs for my son and they held up incredibly well. Nike tends to tear rather easily. You can actually get them in just about any color and your team’s logo. I’m not biased regarding brands as I’ve sold them all. I prefer to recommend equipment that actually provides the best quality and value. Regarding shoulder pads, I’d highly recommend Douglas
Played TE from kids league to semi pro... Really you just need some speed TD cleats, nice open facemask, any gloves really are fine and a towel. Other than that just be good at football. I would choose Riddell always over Schutt! Let me explain: If you order a SpeedFlex, you get a SpeedFlex. If you order a SpeedFlex Diamond, you get a SpeedFlex Diamond. The Problem with Schutt is, that there are so many different types of the F7: on the NFL Helmet testing performance is an F7 UR1, an F7 UR2, an F7 2.0, an F7 VTD II, an F7 and an F7 VTD. BUT YOU CAN’T BUY ANY OF THEM… the only ones available are the F7 Professional and the F7 Collegiate (neither of those are ranked anywhere). There was a F7 LTD around for some time but no one actually wore it… My point is: There are soo many different F7’s around but you have no idea what you actually get…
well as of what i know you cant really buy the UR1/2s because theyre schutts take on the diamond🤷🏽♂️ pretty sure VTD is the one that most teams use (college,nfl,hs) and as far as the helmets on the schutt website idk🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️but theres also green gridiron which sells the VTD.

You definitely want to do your research and look for good deals but make sure you are not giving up quality with the cheaper-priced items. You want equipment that will last multiple seasons not just a couple games.
