      Bonds. That's how the govt reduced its tax when a barrel cost $100.
      Meaning you bought oil at costlier price & sell at lower price by loan/borrowing money. Think it as, asking the next generation to pay back the loan.

      These are long-term special securities issued by the government in place of a cash subsidy. Oil companies are paid interest through it, typically over a term of 15-20 years.
      They are issued if the government is in danger of breaching the fiscal deficit target and aims to delay the fiscal burden of such a payout to future years.
      Petrol and diesel were being sold at lower than the international market price before the complete deregulation of rates.
      To compensate for this, the UPA government issued oil bonds to the companies amounting to ₹1.4 lakh crore between 2005 and 2010.

      @saugatabhattacharyya34 3 роки тому +1

      What about oil bonds? A total of 1.4 lakh crore of oil bonds released by UPA2 during 2005-2010. Nothing new about bonds..there are fertilizer bonds, even this govt. has given out 2.55 lakh crores of bank re-capitalization bonds. So these are regular practices of each regime to hide true fiscal deficits and pass on the burden to future generations. As for oil bonds, this govt. has paid around 3.5K crores as principal and 40K crores as interest so far. In 2021 October it has to pay out 10K crores in 2 installments. But look at the amount earned by way of fuel taxes. A staggering 3.6lakh crores in the year 20-21. How is it becoming difficult to repay 10K crores eh? Let us not blame only one cause. There are many, some justifiable, some not. But we, the common people are the ones to bear the brunt at the end and it hurts if there is even a single unjustifiable cause and an ignored opportunity to provide price relief.

    For all the people fighting about the oil bonds issued by the UPA , the incumbent BJP government till now has paid meagre 3500 crore rupees out of the total 1.35 lakh crore rupees. The bonds would become redeemable in FY21 and here also the government would be paying back the money in installments the first installment being in the tune of rupees 10000 crores, these figures may seem enormous but when seen in juxtaposition with the amount of money collected by the government in the last fiscal year from petrol/diesel which was more than 3.5 lakh crores rupees, they become insubstantial. All the government including the incumbent governent has used bonds in order to whitewash their budget deficit, so blaming the previous government for the current fuel prices would not be correct.

    • @jayantsingh2829
      @jayantsingh2829 3 роки тому +1

      Yes,you're actually correct. This year 2 bonds worth Rs 5000 crore each will be matured,so the modi govt has to pay back 10000 crore rupees in total. But in 2021 alone till now,the govt has collected nearly 3 lakh crore as taxes. So 10k crores when compared to 300k crores in actually a miniature amount. They're just spreading false facts.

    • @jayantsingh2829
      @jayantsingh2829 3 роки тому +1

      Moreover just like the oil bonds the UPA govt had also issued fertilizer bonds. And the present govt is paying back them also but the prices of fertilizers have not gone up as much as the prices of Petrol/Diesel. It's just bullshit logic being used by the GOI to escape criticism.
