Rail Enthusiasts dream! Class 50s on the sea wall, brings back memories of my holidays down there! allso took pics and sound recordings of 50s at Liskeard too! Happy day's & thank you for sharing. 😎
Excellent Geoff. Mid you, looking at your user symbol, I’d have thought you’d prefer the loco to be painted white with a vertical red stripe down the middle!
It shows how special the fifties were doesn’t it Tim? We all remember our first!!! Mine was 50013, from Basingstoke to Waterloo. I also travelled behind 50047 on the same day. At the time, both were a little bit more special because they’d been refurbished bu turned out in plain blue, not large logo.
Just sit me in a beer garden with a pint of decent ale and a view of the railway line Andrei. Oh no, now I’m getting homesick and nostalgic at he same time! But such happy memories eh?
You lucky thing Chay. For us Manchester based kids in the 1980s, Dawlish seemed like a far away and exotic place. Managed to ride a Merrymaker excursion to Paignton one day in 1983. Great memories.

You’re very welcome James, and thank you for the brilliant comment. Glad to be able to bring back such happy memories.
It's appropriate that a loco with the name AJAX looks nice and clean.

Ajax !!!! My first 50 for haulage, and my favourite Hoover. 😫

that's excellent this is where the class 50 locos dominate the line
And now the Hitachis have taken over! I’ m a long way away now but I don’t think I’ll be rushing back to see them!
What happy days; a nice summer evening watching a parade of Hoovers!

Fantastic! Used to spend much of my childhood in Dawlish

As Rob says it is really surprising how few 47's there are here, unless he turned the camera off when they showed up lol
That could very well be a possibility George. I get the feeling that Alan shared my own passion for the 50s!
Perhaps they were away being repainted in sector & Intercity liveries!
Is you on the road bridge to Sheldon at the stàrt ?
Spot on Jeff
