HOLY SHIT CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?? How many times I fuck up saying 'meaninglessness' in the video that is! I can't! For future Devilman discussion: ua-cam.com/video/IlObA-Eli9s/v-deo.html (He also made the thumbnail)
Regarding endings (Good, Bittersweet and Bad Ending): I do find that audiences are more open to a bad ending if there is a clear through-line in how the good one could've been achieved. If the heroes made mistakes of character which caused them to lose it is a bad ending but one which does not spit in the face of hope. Something like Infinity War or Empire Strikes Back comes to mind. In Infinity War when Thanos is pinned down Quill (Starlord) ruins the capture because he is furious that Thanos sacrificed Gamora. In Empire Strikes Back, Yoda explicitly states that Luke shouldn't face Vader before his Jedi training is complete but Luke does and loses. Though the reactions to these stories was shock, people can take sollace that would've have been a theoretical way for the heroes to win. In contrast to something in which the heroes lose without making any reasonable mistakes. Despite 24/7 training, dedication and sprinting as fast as they can they still lose the race. "Rocks fall; everyone dies." that kind of thing. There's a difference between those and stories like Infinity War & Empire. "Nihilistic" I will call it - even though I dislike the word for having 12 definitions varying from person to person. Even in a nihilistic story like George Orwell's 1984, where Winston's defeat was was inevitible, we can take solace because that world is so vastly different from our one. Devilman's world is a mirror to our own. Demons aside the reactions characters have are very human and seeing how it can lead to a downfall of everything, while our heroes make no reasonable mistakes and are helpless to stop it makes it nihilistic.
Great video! Nice follow up the the favourite manga panel one, even though I watched it like a year ago now I still remembered your points really well. However can you like...not private your old videos? Please? 😂 Just because you feel embarrassed or ashamed at a past you, who was probably very proud of what he'd made, doesnt mean you should remove our ability to look back on your past videos and see your growth. That's like deleting your progress photos of you at the gym since 'theyre so cringe'. Like that only affects you, let the rest of us enjoy *all* your videos please👍 Besides, sometimes we miss the old Kyle whose smile you can hear in his voice as he tries to rile people up while still making an, if nothing else, interesting point.
If you don't think any interpretation is anymore valid than anyother, than why did you change your mind about interpreting this discriptively to prescriptively? What caused you to change your mind if validity wasn't a factor?
I just thought about it a different way and thought 'that's probably more in line with my reading of Devilman,' because a bunch more things fell into line in tandum with that change.
@@KyleEntertainment What other things fell into line? And what line did they fall into? Do you mean that the events of the story made more sense to you when you interpret it this new way?
