I have been an eager reader and a devoted follower of Karen Armstrong since the 1990s. I am not ashamed to confess that when I read the book The Spiral Staircase about a decade back I could not restrain my tears, sorry, a typical Bengali expression of love and admiration!. It was only about four years back that I read the book Through the Narrow Gate, the history of her struggle as a novice. My own honest but humble reading of the Bhagavad Gita and the great books of other religions has convinced me that compassion (empathy for all) is the key message of all religions, the message this great lady, ten years younger than me, has been spreading for more than a decade now. A great lady indeed!

I've read a significant amount of her published works and I find Miss Armstrong to be deeply inspiring. She's a favorite.
